Nope but a friend of mine in london just e-mailed me.....

saying he got given a ticket last minute even though he was not much of a fan and thought it was brilliant!

Though they were great

Highly Suspicious is pure comedy gold. Also wasn't expecting to get One Big Holiday so that was amazing. Though it did lag towards the middle due to the first 4/5 songs being so strong but it soon picked up again

agree about the lag in the middle

which was a bit of a shame, but they definitely did make up for it at the end.

They weren't bad...

As someone who last listened to My Morning Jacket 5 years ago, I probably wasn't the best judge for the gig as I didn't know any of their material. It's always the same at gigs where you go in blind, it's hard to get into the music unless the band are so blindingly brilliant that you can't help but move your feet to the music.

I was talking to a guy who was a big fan. He was disappointed that it wasn't sold out, I suggested that might be because maybe, they're just not that good...he went on to say they were pretty much one of his favourite bands, oops; everyone's entitled to their opinion though.

By the end of the gig, a couple of songs had got me moving, but I wasn't convinced as a whole. Judging by the reaction of the people around me though, it was a great gig in their books, and who could complain when they came on and did a 30 minute encore. Perhaps I should go and give their new album a listen...

yeah! Do it!

Does anyone have the setlist?
Thanks,
Stu

it was great

Really awesome band. Great set, would have loved Steam Engine and Run Thru but can't really complain...and although I, like many people, was skeptical about Highly Suspicious, live it was absolutely great, really enjoyed it.

Burmuda Highway, Phone Went West, Dondante and One Big Holiday were all absolutely brilliant - in fact, I think I enjoyed the encore more than the actual first set (though it was hardly an encore, more of an entire second set...) Annoyingly though I was worried about catching my train for pretty much the whole of it so I wasn't really paying the music the attention it warranted...

The support weren't bad, though pretty much a cut-copy of MMJ...liked the little tribute to Run Thru towards the end of their last song.

it was just fantastic last night......

but just how hot and sweaty was it in there?
can't believe someone on this thread reckoned it wasn't sold out, it was absolutely rammed downstairs....
rumour has it that they might be back to play a few dates in Oct/Nov this year, hurrah!

I honestly thought it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to!

But then i am rather obsessed with MMJ.

It's been a good couple of days since the gig but i'm still buzzing! How good was Dondante?!?!

well, at the risk of calling you all MAD

and bearing in mind

a. I am a big fan
b. I have seen them before several times
c. I know it has been a long while, what with illness and tour cancellations on the Z record
d. I really like this new album

I thought it was pretty bad. The sound was fucking appalling. We went down to the front to get the best of it too. I know they got Prince in their soul now but it was madly bass heavy, thumpa thumpa thumpa, muffled shitola festival sound, which hid all the keys, most of the guitars, all of the subtleties and hacked away at the sweet clarity of Jim's voice.

We left after half an hour, unable to face another 2 hours of MMJ being raped by the sonics of the room/venue/desk/sound guy.

Then you missed out my friend.

We were sat up in the rafters and it sounded fantastic.
