Release the bats! Lightning Bolt! Les Savy Fav!

*Apologies if this has already been posted. What an incredible lineup.*

Line up finalised for Release the Bats 2008!!!!

Here are those names you have been waiting for....

We are VERY excited to announce that Lightning Bolt and Les Savy Fav are the two acts that finalise the line up of this years Release The Bats.

The astounding Lightning Bolt will be first on the bill – this is their first show back in the UK after a long hiatus. Doors are 6.30pm – 2am

The complete (incredible) line up is now as follows:

Lightning Bolt
Pissed Jeans
OM
Les Savy Fav
Shellac
Andy Wetherall DJ

Tickets are priced at £22.50 and are available now from the following outlets:

http://www.seetickets.com/

http://www.wegottickets.com/event/32525

http://www.gigantic.com/gigantic/home_release_the_bats.html

http://www.stargreen.com/events?id=20443

Like last year, we'd love it if you could come dressed as something inspired by one of the bands (Perhaps you could simulate some Pissed Jeans? Or arrive in a...Shjip?) or as
something spooky to help us with creating the Halloween mood.

The event will have a free flow between the upstairs and downstairs so everyone can go where they like throughout the evening.

  • .....

I'm trying my hardest not to well up with absolute joy.

  • ah.

    now i buy tickets yes

    • and bought

      sassy

      • can you get me one please?

        i pay you back yeah?

        • nope

          • (1. i already bought mine

and it's an e-ticket, so i'd then have to turn up as myself twice
            2. i can't even really afford the one for me
            3. you smell TERRIBLE)

            • you've braved the e-tickets again

              after last year?!

              • going to take the afternoon off

                to get in on time

actually, i just didnt think about it properly. damn

  • Holy. Shit.

  • Holy shit, Lightning Bolt!

    ...

  • fuck. ok now i want to go.

    • thought the line-up isn't as AMAZING as other people seem to think

i'm mainly going for Lightning Bolt, wouldn't mind seeing OM and Shellac too though.

  • that literally is one of the best line ups EVER!

    • they really really werent joking

about the special guests being special

      • shellac alone had me grinning like an idiot

        but this... :D:D:D:D:D:D:D::D:D:D:Dx lots more!

  • man

you'd think the ATP guys would be tired of Les Savy Fav by now

    • oh my god

oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god lightning bolt

    • man

you'd think people would be tired of taking popshots at ATP for having favourite bands that they really really love and are happy to put on again.

To be honest, I agree that the festivals could generally do with shaking up a bit, but putting on one night gigs with lineups as fucking ridiculously awesome as this would rule if it was identical every year

  • wow

    excitement at my desk

  • Wow. Just wow!

  • woo!

    and indeed, hoo!

  • this is good

    this is very very good.

  • I hate the Forum

    but what a fucking line-up!

    • mmm, sound last year was gash.

hopefully it'll be better this year!

  • my god

i am so there for this, that looks ace

  • :O

Crikey! I so need to go to this.

  • I award Jamie Summers

    One 'Peg'.

  • are wooden shjips

    still playing?

    • good question

      • Yes they are.

They've been accidentally left off that list.

  • :D

this is absolutely amazing, LIGHTNING BOLT!!

  • Sweet Jesus

So what's the chance of being able to get close enough, considering the capacity of the forum, to actually see Lightning Bolt?

I assume it will be the usual guerilla style performance...

    • i believe they will be yes.

... man... i really will piss my jeans now.. LIGHTNING BOLT!

    • hmm

I was thinking the same thing, Id say just get there early...

      • what time

        did it finish last year?

        • 12.30 and then

          DJs after i think.

  • Meh Lightning Bolt will be shit in the forum.

Unless of course they play on the stage.

Does anyone know what OM sound like with their new drummer? It'll be the deciding factor in whether I go.

  • JESUS!!!

i punched the air when i read "lightning bolt", amazing. plus savy fav, always fantastic. great, great line up here. i can't wait at all.

  • I already have my ticket

plus I don’t work on a Friday afternoon, so can get there supa-early.

I am going to end the night covered in bruises.

    • shotgun a ticket!

i'm think im on holiday then which sucks cause i've wanted to see lightning bolt for years I LOVE THEM arghhhh!

  • come dressed as a huge lightening bolt

    that would be fun

    • this is good

I wish it were open till 4am so we could dance to Andrew Weatherall into the wee hours

      • ^ this so much

I think he's the part I'm most excited about for this gig

  • Two tickets, one vague idea for a

´We´ll Make A Lover Of You´-themed outfit. Classy.

  • im gonna

call everyones bluff and dress as Andy Wetherall

    • Ahh man

this looks amazing! Gutted its in Ldn though. Anyone know if Lightning Bolt are doing anymore UK dates?

      • I cried with joy

I hope lightening bolt do another date and NBC too.

        • wow!!

I really want to go to this....although the last train back to Brighton is 1:00 and i sure dont want to leave early and miss Shellac!! Arghh what to do!

  • I assume wegottickets will be the cheapest

but will the entry situation be as farcical as last year? ie should we all be getting physical tickets?
Who have the smallest boking fees for physical tickets?

    • I hope Lightning Bolt play on the stage

      otherwise it will be stupid.

Also, I hope you're allowed to leave the Forum and go back in, otherwise you could feasibly be in there for 7 and a half hours.

      • it does make sense

if Lightning Bolt play on stage... but isnt alot of the experiance seeing them live about being so close to the action? But it being in such a big place I just don't see if working any other way apart from the stage.

        • well considering the fuck up

with e-tickets last year, there will only be about 30 people in to see lightning bolt play if they're really early.

    • what happened with e-tickets last year?

      • they didn't have enough staff

so there were ridiculous queues for an hour or more and early bands were missed.

  • lets hope lightning bolt play on the balcony

also, for costume, i think i'll just have aladdin sane face paint

  • this means a lightning bolt tour for sure

they dont do one off shows.

    • ...

      • OMG!

        .

        • mate!

          those outfits are awesome

          • I like 'walking lightning bolt'

"choose from HAPPY face, ANGRY face, or NO face"

            • This is gonna be

amazing. Slayer and Mastodon the night before and then this. Rock on.

            • The top one is $2899!!!!

that's about $30 over my release the bats costume budget...blast!

            • I'm going to spend

the next few months growing an impressive stomach, get really stressed so I start losing my hair and let my beard grow out and go along as Tim Harrington with various costume changes to boot.

  • god

seeing the 'Fav straight after the 'Bolt will kill me.

    EXCITED THOUGH.

    • how many people usually get dressed up for these sort of things

for some reason, can't imagine your standard Shellac fan would get that into it.

      • Last year I and those I was with wore

        Eamon Holmes masks.

        It was Halloween after all.

    • alot of people were dressed

      as zombies etc

      • Zombies? I’m gonna get a shower curtain,

Shower mat, the flex off of a mini kettle, some biscuits and tungsten-tipped screws then…

        • "Tungsten-tipped screws...

....never gonna use them Lynne. Never gonna use them..."

          • Zombies, by their very nature, are inconsistent.

            They’re a mish-mash of different bits.

        • I saw a guy a few Halloweens

ago dressed up like this in Cardiff outside a Kebab shop and was like "are you dressed as Alan Partridge as a zombie"? and he told me I was the only person who'd guessed it right. we then spent half an hour quoting Partridge. Fun times.

          • I can’t claim to be that original either.

One of my mates has actually dressed up as an Alan Partridge zombie for a party before.

Afterwards, incredibly drunk, there were five of us walking back up Heaton Road - Alan Partridge Zombie, Edward Scissorhands, Jay and Silent Bob and me as Papa Lazaru. We nearly got picked upon by a big group of radge kids, but then they saw Jay and Silent Bob standing outside the takeaway shop dancing and shouting abuse at people, which they found hilarious.

          • Was this Halloween 2005?

If so there's a good chance that you were speaking to my mate who decided to do just that. Weird.

I really really wanna see Les Savy Fav.

  • Balls...

This now looks amazing but i'm going to Slayer/Mastodon on the same night. Ah well Slayer seem a more appropriate Halloween band somehow...

    • ^

more appropriate than a man looking like a psycho killer smaking drums looking scary as hell?

still... they do have Kerry King

      • ^

If we could attach spiked metal to his arms we might just create the perfect Halloween drummer.

  • FINE, I'll GO

    Fucking hell.

    • I'm not dressing up though

      Cunts.

  • jesus fucking christ.

does anyone know if it's 18+ / strict with IDing?

    • oh, wait. I'll be 18 by then...

      :D

    • I think it was 18+ last year

so it will probably be this year. I don't know how strict they were with ID.

If it is 18+, just wear an elaborate costume that disguises you slightly & you'll probably get away with it

  • sweet

    .

    • are lightning bolt gonna be playing anywhere else like?

it would be shit if this is their only uk date. cos i can't go.

  • just found this:

IMPORTANT LIGHTNING BOLT AND TICKET COLLECTION INFO!!

As Lightning Bolt will (of course) be playing on the floor of the forum and not on the stage, during their performance – which is the first of the night – for health and safety reasons, only the first 500 people in will be able to watch them from the floor. Everyone else in will need to watch from the balcony.
Once they have finished and cleared away their equipment the event will become free-flow and you will be able to go upstairs or downstairs as you please.

On another note, we are aware that at last years Release The Bats there were issues with the volume of ticket collections, which may have delayed some people getting in.

We would like to assure you that we have taken measures to resolve these issues for this year’s event and hope to avoid any excessive queuing.

We Got Tickets will be sending down a trained member of staff to be dedicated to their collections, ensuring everyone gains entry without delay.

To help us in this process we ask you that you bring along your booking reference, the card you used to book with, and also if you can make sure you know and make note of which ticket agent you purchased your tickets through. Having all this information to hand when you reach the box office helps us a great deal to speed up your entry to the show!

Further details regarding ticket collection times to be announced closer to the event, so please check back for updates!

  • i'm going to come in a shell-ac suit

    WOODEN SHJIPS!! YESSSS

  • Got my ticket today

Very excited. This + NBC should make the end of the year well worth remembering.

I have a hazy idea for coming dressed as a man who's been struck by lightning. Adhesive hairgel, polish, rips, flour.

  • despite this

being pretty far off, 2 thirds of tickets are now sold, so dont hang about if you want to guarantee getting some.

    • I got mine as a birthday present yesterday!

Turns out i am going. Wooooo!

Can I bagsy dressing up as a squirrel please?

    • Getting mine

on Wednesday so should be OK!

  • I wonder if I should go to this.

I really like almost everyone on the line up... and Lightning Bolt? FFS...

    Hmmm.

  • I think I'll go to this

By the by, is the Cornelius/Fuck Buttons show in Shepherd's Bush next Sunday an ATP thing too?

  • I'll be heading down from the Midlands with friends

    for this.

The idea of Dracula Mountain, live, at Halloween, too good to resist!!

  • only a few hundred

tickets left on seetickets, all other ticket sellers sold out.

    • conference of terraformers

im going. just for shellac. the rest are a bonus. especially OM.

      sweet.

      • I'm going just for Shellac

and nothing else. Cans in the park until two minutes to Albini!

        Woooo!

  • i wouldn't pay £22.50

for lightning bolt, no matter how much i love them.

    • shellac, pissed jeans, wooden shjips

      and shellac.

Worth it, even if Om are deathly boring live.
