I knew Billy. I went to his house in about 1997. He sang, accompanied by Steve Aungle on piano, for about an hour.
Taking requests, including Breakfast, which as you might imagine was HUUUUUUUUUUUGE. Total hairs on the back of the neck stuff. Lots of the songs from Beyond The Sun. The Morrissey song. Stuff I didnt know.
I guess this is a rather unique thing. To my knowledge, he hadnt played live, aside from a Ronnie Scott's show in about 1988 in about 15 years.
What a fucking privilege/honour
Funnily enough
They were introduced to me by a friend the other week and were on the radio at work. Good stuff.
What a voice!
First three albums are amazing. Party Fears Two one of the great 80s singles. The post-Rankine stuff is patchy by contrast and often spoilt by the 80s production. Savour those early albums though, 'Sulk' in particular is essential.
or just Associates
NUDE SPOONS!
U 4 ear?
Always Billy
But always though.
