we all know they've had some great songs, but are generally not a particularly good band. i don't think that's really up for discussion.
what is up for discussion, though, is just how many freaking bands foo fighters have shared members with. Let us try and compile a list (i'll leave off bands that i've never heard of and one off collaborations):
Nirvana (2 members)
Scream (2 members)
The Germs
Sunny Day Real Estate (2 members)
Alanis Morrissettee
No Use For A Name
Me First And The Gimme Gimmes
Probot
Queens Of The Stone Age
The Fire Theft (2 members?)
Alanis Morrissette...?
same drummer..
Didn't know that!
thanx.
yep - he's drastically un-scene
compared to the others
you've rinsed wikipedia
are there any more?
..
jackson united
the backbeat band (though that probably doesn't count)
the coat-tail riders
the licks (for recording)
killing joke (for recording)
tenacious D
there are probably more...
The Vandals, possibly.
Actually, forget that
Franz Stahl who played guitar for a bit
was in Wool (as was Dave Grohl).
The first two Foos albums were properly da shit. Since then, they've had occasional good songs, but it's pretty ropey overall.
Nine Inch Nails
Grohl drummed on 'With Teeth', didn't he?
There Is Nothing Left To Lose
is a great album. I would say they started going downhill with album four.
^ Agreed
FF > TINLTL > TCATS
oh wool
i thought dave grohl was in scream with the stahls...
I'm sure i saw scream mentioned as one of his drumming roles
Juliette and the Licks
Dave Grohl drummed for them - hence terrible crowd interplay at v festival last year
You've forgotten Tenacious D
i have
"generally not a particularly good band"
We'll agree to disagree on that. I think they're one of the finest pop-rock bands of the 90s/00s.
have any of them
done more than one desert session?
if so would that count?
the problem with foo fighters is...
....that every song theyve done could of come from any period of the bands history.
killing joke
as i recall
..well thats bullshit
if you listen to the latest album....would the acoustic songs..and in particular the last song Home which for the vast majority of the song is just Dave on the piano...would that have fitted into their first 3 or 4 albums?? no.
they get alot of stick but they've never been a part of a particular scene, they've stuck around now for 13 years and have a huge fanbase, even if you don't like them you've got to give them credit, they've been doing something right for a long time now...
Erm,
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Eagles of death metal
Coheed and Cambria
