I suppose what I want to say is I haven't heard much of Cohen's stuff, but from what people say, I reckon I'd probably like it...a lot. Where to start?
that's in September. I have this long, long summer ahead of me first. Hope yr having fun and haven't turned into an alcoholic couple from a Mountain Goats song yet!
but your opportunities to see Leonard Cohen will be few and far between. Of course, you shouldn't see him just because you feel you should, though. If you have no real inclination to see Mr Cohen, don't bow to peer pressure - just see Death Cab for Cutie.
but purely from a price point of view, it would cost you, what, £25 max to see death cab, whilst Cohen usually commands £80+, so if you wanted to make the most of your ticket you'd go for cohen anyway.
you ain't going to be able to see Leonard Cohen too many times. Make the most of this opportunity.
I have never heard Death Cab so I could't make a judgement on musical merit. No I can't resist it, I suspect Cohen will be a lot more rewarding
The man is like in the hall of musical history (if there is one) if you don't really know his stuff then find out - he is too brilliant to miss - and thats an understatement.
He was INCREDIBLE at Glastonbury. He is also 75 and you will never get another chance to see him. And even if you don't know too much of his stuff, you'll be blown away by the musicianship, and there's always Hallelujah
hahahahahah
hahahahhahahahahh
seriously, good one
hahahahaha
your mum
Seriously though, I've never seen Death Cab, and really want to, but at the same time don't want to miss out on seeing Mr Cohen.
I suppose what I really want is a time machine.
You're joking, right?
Read the above post...
I suppose what I want to say is I haven't heard much of Cohen's stuff, but from what people say, I reckon I'd probably like it...a lot. Where to start?
The original 'best of' with
Suzanne
Bird on a wire
So Long Marianne
Who by Fire
The Partisan
etc
etc
etc
simply awesome
i'm just gonna say
that Death Cab are really good live, and when I saw them a couple of months ago they played loads of old stuff.
I'll let everyone get back to laughing now.
*HAHAHAHAHA
sorry. :(
i'd see leonard cohen, but then again i'm *self-deprecating statement* GO AND SEE LEONARD COHEN.
ssssh
you'll make Ben Gibbard cry.
PS where in Europe are you now?
that's a point, i'd get even more annoyingly snobbish then
i'm in bulgaria! they sell beer at prices that make me too drunk to go to bed and hence force me onto the internet. are you in russia yet?
no

lolocaust.
To continue with the theme thus far, Leonard a million times over. Plus four.
This coming from someone who really enjoys DCFC.
Leonard Cohen
every time.
why is this even a question?
a cow says..
Death Cab For Cutie.
Why did they have to do this?
You will have multiple chances to see Death Cab for Cutie in the future
but your opportunities to see Leonard Cohen will be few and far between. Of course, you shouldn't see him just because you feel you should, though. If you have no real inclination to see Mr Cohen, don't bow to peer pressure - just see Death Cab for Cutie.
Good answer.
Most of the others have made me feel sad.
^the only sensible answer
Sorry, but this is such a DIS thread.
I'm laughing but inside my heart is breaking a little.
always the co-dawg
he was amazing at glasto
Leonard of course
it'll probably be your only chance to see him.
You mean because
outside of DiS, most people would probably just have gone to see Death Cab without asking..?
cohen cohen cohen cohen cohen
yes yes yes. death cab are total ball bag munchers and cohen is the greatest living poet of the 20th century.
REALLY HARD DECISION!!
Everyone has already pointed out the obvious difference in quality...
but purely from a price point of view, it would cost you, what, £25 max to see death cab, whilst Cohen usually commands £80+, so if you wanted to make the most of your ticket you'd go for cohen anyway.
i was going to go see DCFC
am i crazy then? i've been waiting to see them for about 5 years now....
anyone know if the stages are close enough for me to catch half & half?
you're not crazy
you're just fucking stupid.
£80!
Are you fucking kidding? The reanimated corpse of Elvis wouldn't be worth £80.
but leonard is
thats how he rolls
I laughed when I read this
Leonard Cohen.
Jeez.
just so everyone knows
everyone who says "Death Cab" in this thread, i'm going to go round to their house and perforate their ear drums while they sleep. okay?
Who Give's A fuck? Who give's a fuck?
Not me!
i suspect this will be your own chance to see Leonard Cohen
you'll have more opportunities to see death cab....
pretty simple really.

Death Cab.
Duh.
Yes very obvious
you ain't going to be able to see Leonard Cohen too many times. Make the most of this opportunity.
I have never heard Death Cab so I could't make a judgement on musical merit. No I can't resist it, I suspect Cohen will be a lot more rewarding
Having seen both, its a close call.
Both were very special, but Cohen had the extra magic.
"Hallelujah" as the sun set behind the Pyramid after a brilliant hot Saturday was the greatest thing I've ever seen.
Might not be as amazing elsewhere but yeah. He good.
sunday^^
yeah it was class wasnt it. i went to watch the national straight after and leonard cohen was the perfect support
:|
I wish I'd have seen Joan Baez.
Verve were boring as sin.
are you for real. leonard cohen
the perfect SUPPORT for the national?
please shoot yourself.
um no
support in the sense that he was before them and it perfectly set me up for watching the national
i can't believe he played
'so long marianne', tower of song AND hallelujah all in a row at sunset.
it was utterly magic. my god.

It really is no contest. AT ALL.
What
If you don't go and see Leonard Cohen
I will find you and mock you brazenly.
He was INCREDIBLE at Glastonbury. He is also 75 and you will never get another chance to see him. And even if you don't know too much of his stuff, you'll be blown away by the musicianship, and there's always Hallelujah
