Earlier I got asked what my fav was & whilst I usualy struggle awnsering this with a good majority of bands... I find this one in particular REALLLLLLLLLLLY hard. I think I waverd at the time between:
Trailer Trash
Teeth Like Gods Shoeshine
Interstate 8
Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes
3rd Planet
Bukowski
Satin In A Coffin
Exit Does Not Exist
Dramanine
Styrofoam Boots
Spitting Venom
Other Peoples Lives
Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset

But I have just added Cowboy Dan, Lounge (Closing Time), A Different City, Ionizes & Atomonizes, King Rat & Custom Concern on the list.

Whats your faviroute & what other artists do you have a albums worth of 'FAVIROUTE' tracks of and what are they.

I'd narrow it down to:

Bukowski
Spitting Venom
Cowboy Dan
Wild Packs of Family Dogs
Willful Suspension of Disbelief

No one else agrees

but I love Convenient Parking so much - don't know why, it just seems to roll around nicely in my head.

No! I agree

Brilliant song.

FUCK!

forgot about that, the over the top yelling on the first chorus does me in

Not surprised that you started this thread! :)

Doin' the cockroach
Tiny cities made of Ashes
Polar opposites
Bankrupt on selling
A Different City
You're the good things
Bury me with it
The View
Dramanine

Oh and

every other song they have ever written ever.

Doing the cockroach

There, I just narrowed it down the 1 !

not a big fan

but Trailer Trash is definitely my fave

3rd planet

not the best, but probably my favourite. First one I heard by them, generally the one i give to people on mixes and the like

^^ ditto to

that.

Heart cooks brain

because it was the first MM song I ever heard and I loved it and it got me into them.

Spitting Venom

for me

almost impossible to name just one

so I'm not going to

3rd planet
Styrofoam Boots
Dramamine
Ocean Breathes Salty
Gravity Rides Everything
Dark Center of the Universe
Wild Pack of Family Dogs
Paper Thin Walls
Missed the Boat

On a related note is there ever going to be another Ugly Cassanova album?

I think Isaacc said Ugly Casanova and Modest Mouse sort of merged to make one sound

hense the tom waits-esc sound of Good News, Ocean Breathes Salty is another one :(

true

it's very stripped down and basic but it lets you hear the lyrics a lot more.

His Ocean Breathes Salty is fantastic as is Neverending Maths Equation and Tiny Cities

It's a very good hommage to Isaaccs lyrics

he is a very good song writer

Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes

Ocean Breathes Salty
Black Cadillacs
Satin in a Coffin
Never Ending Math Equation
Steam Engenious
Fly Trapped in a Jar
3rd Planet
Spitting Venom
Florida

Also, thanks for this thread.

Just remembered that I had copied every album of theirs off a mate a few weeks ago, MUCH LOVE A TING.

very tough call, I'd say

Trailer Trash
3rd Planet
Never Ending Math
Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset
The Stars Are Projectors (just for the amazing middle section)
Florida
Teeth Like God's Shoeshine

i totally agree with stars are projectors

those drums towards the end are immense, that caught me so off guard first time i heard it, not what i was expecting from what had been so far a fairly standard (though excellent) indie/alt rock band (on the Moon and Antarctica)

O God the ending of that song is brilliant

I forgot to list that one as well, that song has a lot going for it but it takes ages to really appriciate

Talking shit about a pretty sunset

What people are made of

All of my favourites

have been mentioned already :)
what a great band!
I feel stupid posting in threads like this though cos of my username..

easy

Bankrupt On Selling.

a bit predictable

but Float On.

One of my favourite songs ever.

It is a song of our generation

everyone goes nuts when its hit out on a club

I love that one

I don't know to much about Modest Mouse and only have that album with Float On.

Where should go from here?

What modest mouse do you wan't?

Disco Modest Mouse?
We Were Dead Before The Ship Sank

Gritty Art Punk Self Reflecting Indie Modest Mouse?
This Is A Long Drive or Lonesome Crowded West

Spacey, Thoughtful... alone paranoid Modest Mouse?
Mooon & Antarctica

Summer Modest Mouse?
Building Nothing Out Of Something, Fruit That Ate It's Self, Sad Sappy Sucker

I personally reccomend their Art Punk stuff and Moon & Antarctica

Oh and Building Nothing Out Of Something

I reccomend that, if you REALLY like their pop moments then go for We Were Dead

cheers

I will look into some of them. I have heard good things about Moon & Antarctica I like the idea of the arty punk stuff to nice one :)

yes^

.

Dark Centre of The Universe

I cream over the guitars! Poifect!

Bukowski

it was the song that got me into them!!

At first,

I thought he was singing about Bill Cosby not Bukowski.

Bukowski

Definitely my favourite

the good times

are killing me

Enough heir of the dog to make myself an entire rug

the gooood times are killing me

It's always good when ur hungover or comming down

Jaws clenched tight, we talked all night o but what did we sayyyyy the good times are killing me

no love for

night on the sun, from the everywhere and his nasty parlour tricks ep?

The is love for it

I like it a lot but it's not my fav :) I know that

Tundra/Desert

This may in fact be the only Modest Mouse song I like.

Gravity Rides Everything

I can't think of other favourites. Paper Thin Walls, 3rd Planet, Doin' The Cockroach, Trailer Trash, Teeth Like God's Shoeshine, The World at Large, Float On, The View, Dark Center of the Universe, Fly Trapped in a Jar and Spitting Venom all come to mind.

doin' the cockroach!

closely followed by dukes up. partially cos they're the first i heard on a mixtape a friend made me. but doin' the cockroach, for sure. it's taut.
