I think for new bands a cover song can be quite a good thing, it can be fun for the band as it allows them to reinterpret an already known song into something new, and for the audience it gives them a new take on an old song they know. A crowd pleaser, even.
Anyway we are have troubles even thinking of one. We want to do something that people would know, but at the same time not something too obvious, such as Creep or Teen Spirit. I wouldn't like to do anything in the charts either (such as when a million bands did Umbrella).
If anyone wants to hear what we sound like to perhaps get a better idea go listen at myspace.com/manflumusic
If you don't want to/can't listen to music on your computer, in places we sound like Deerhoof, Sonic Youth and Devo.
Oh and i'm going to JAG my friend's project, i didn't even realize she could sing or play anything, i've just heard this now so i'm quite excited, sorry.

"more than a feeling"

SET ME ON FIRE
Oh me too so much
more Pigeon Kill though... I´ve also always wanted a band called Pigeon Kill. Also when covering Pigeon Kill I would so want a bloodied pigeon prop to caress during the spoken bit.

REGULATE!!!
i'm scared to touch anything by Wire
Outdoor Miner is my favourite Wire song too. We could certainly try but surely it would never match up to the original.
Saying that i think we sound a lot better than the latest Wire album, but that doesn't take much effort, ha.
Windowlicker
funny you should say this
i was considering it but just think, the poor poor drummer.
it would take a lot of work but it could be done well.
I was also thinking this
how about some 2-step?
MJ Cole - Sincere is gagging for a cover version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbjMf5uelA8
oh my it's been so long since i've heard this
something like this could work, the drummer and bass player could easily pull it off, and i'd get to make all those fun sounds.
It must have been love by Roxette
...no idea why...something just tells me it would work haha!
United States of Whatever
My new band...

i'm so proud of her. She's always had a great music taste, one of the few people i can talk to about all sorts of music irl. Those songs are really stunning.
I hope she wants to play gigs and that, i'm not sure if she just wants it to be a recording project or not.
I so want her to support
at a gig I´m hopefully putting on soon now...

me and the drummer play this together to warm up before the others get to the studio
also our studio has a Travis Bean guitar there normally, so i get to use that and pretend to be Steve Albini.
but that song is perfect anyway, it wouldn't be nearly good if we tried to put our own spin on it.
Benny Hill Theme
there ain't a place where the Benny Hill Theme don't fit.
Superstition by Stevie Wonder.
oooh!
Could be on to something here! I could imagine us doing a PIL-like take on this one.
