Who does Batman best?

I haven't seen the latest one.

But, as it just starts on Film 4, I'm reminded of how much I absolutely LOVE the Tim Burton ones. They were perfect. The second one is better.

Is the Christian Bale one good?

I saw samurais in the advert I think, and a motorbike, and I was put off. I think the homoerotic 90s ones are among the worst films of all time and was worried it might be similar.

In Batman & Robin

The worst movie EVER

worst EVER?

i've seen Dune and The Postman, y'know

Well done

most people scratched out there eyes after Dune. Unless you saw the Postman first and you did remove the eyes and are now blind.
I apologise.

You've never seen

Beatlejuice? For shame.

O please say your joking

PLEASSSE SAY YOUR JOKING!

Batman Whatver its called, the 3rd one... was okay but Batman & Robin was terrible

Clooney made me angry

i LOVED them films when i was growing up, total let down.

Watching that video now.

Fucking literally hilarious :D:D:D:D

oh the Christian Bale one is great

it's much more gritty and dark in comparison to the more surreal Burton films. His portrayal of Batman is much more intense than Keaton's. Someone that the badguys actually fear themselves rather than a goody two shoes that just gets in their way.

The backstory to him becoming Batman is quite long though, that's what seems to put many people off it.

The Burton ones are great though, lots of fun.

Returns is great

but not very Batman. It's like one of the more difficult, way-out-there graphic novels (Arkham Asylum, and the like). I don't think Burton was very interested in the character of Batman; there's a better balance with Begins. Although you do have this uneasy reality/fantasy thing going on; he's kind of a marine who dresses like a massive bat.

Batman & Robin is the worst film ever made.

Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb.

"HOLY METAL BATMAN!

what?
its metal batman...with loads of holes in it"

nah, i think that one ruled

Me too.

It's one of the very few films that I neeeeeed to watch whenever it's on TV. The plot, with the joker turning all the world's leaders into dust: oddly terrifying.

i talked to a guy who is rly into the comics about this

and his view was that the nolan films strip away all the things that are the essence of the batman comics and are basically just like any old thriller and the burton are cool

i thought this was quite interesting

Yeah, I think that sums it up

pretty well. In Begins, Batman might as well be any old nutter with a cape and a deathwish. The training stuff is cool, but only really great if you know enough about the character Bruce Wayne's going to become. It still works because Nolan has respect for the character; he works in a lot of good, subtle character stuff (Bruce as the 'millionaire playboy' is brilliant). Oh, and I reckon it's really all the better if you've read Batman Year One..

idk

he probably has he has a lot of comics, i dont really know, he was also complaining about the joker just wearing lipstick and not having the permanent smile as being tantamount to sacrelidge

i dont know, im not rly invested enough in batman to care but its quite interesting nonetheless, from what ive read about christopher nolan he seems to have been fairly explicit that he has no real intention doing anything with the supernatural and elements of the story which is i guess why people into the comics would have trouble with it

In fairness, I think that's awesome

the best Batman stories are usually fairly gritty. It's been a while since I read it, but see if he's got a copy of The Killing Joke to lend you; maybe my favourite batman story ever, and it's pretty grounded in reality (for a story about a 'Bat' 'Man' anyway). I can't ever see Nolan's Batman kicking Superman's boyscout ass all over the shop, though.

But yeah, I can also see that people would be annoyed about changes from the comics; although I'm just excited to hear that Nolan (and Ledger) have worked some magic with the 'spirit' of the Joker. One review called him something like a "demented terrorist with a sense of humour." Eeeeee!

i shall ask him

yeah i was quite interested because its never really occurred to me as a thing and they seemed like valid enough complaints, watching batman returns i can see what he means

that said i imagine i'll probably enjoy the dark knight as well it looks pretty good so i dunno

Adam West

Keaton was a good one

Especially in Batman forever - but that also had Cat woman and she was brilliant. Christian Bale is phenomenal as an actor.I like them both.

BAIL

Considering how low budget it is and all

I quite like the guy in this:

http://www.theforce.net/fanfilms/nonsw/batman_deadend/

Especially the bit where he satnds up. With the cape.

(Also an excuse to post this again. Heeee!)

there's two B&R films

Batman and Robin - 60s version, Adam West, campness, terrible jokes, Shark Repellent Spray. Amazing (when pissed)

Batman and Robin - 90s, George Clooney, suit nipples, Arnie's worst line ever (against stiff competition). Appalling, regardless of state of inebriation.

Its true

Batman Deadend is awesome. Batman Begins is fantastic and from what Ive read and heard The Dark Knight is going to be truely truely exceptional. It has also had one of the greatest publicity campaigns ive ever seen for a film.

christian bale.

although this has more to do with the style of film/script too.
