I was listening to Province Earlier
I fucking love that band.
yeah they're amazing
album three soon, according to tunde.
whooo!
I look forward to it. I love tvotr.
oh really,
linkage?
no linkage
i just met him at a subtle gig (where he helped with the song 'deathful') and asked him where the fuck the third album was. he said around september or october with a tour planned.
look: http://photos-642.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v258/218/95/734530642/n734530642_3104336_9157.jpg
oh cool,
I've heard there really nice guys :)
he was alright
he seemed a bit shocked that people wanted to speak to him but when he heard my accent he perked up. those americans love an english accent.
they're touring the states soon
so i would guess it may happen this year. yay!
province and tonight
i could pretty much have on repeat all day. wonderful band.
what are they like live?
Great but
Most heartbreaking thing ever - seeing them perform to about 100 people at Reading 2006 as they were on at the same time as the Arctic Monkeys
They were fucking great though
And they ended with Satellite... highlight of the festival for me.
Nathan from Be Your Own Pet was standing next to me throughout the whole thing as well and we were both like - "This is so awesome. Totally rad."
That was a good Saturday.
^Yes they were
Thought there were a few more than that. Thought the tent was about 3/4 full. Was absolutely brilliant though.
By the way they are touring the US in August so maybe with a bit of luck it will coincide with a new album and (fingers crossed) some UK dates. A surprise late addition to reading this year would be pretty awesome.
it was immense
absolutely the highlight of the festival. Sound and atmosphere were great. I ran into someone the next day who said they "had to leave and not see muse because they were so good".
^^^hahaha^^^
i must have also been standing right next to you! We lifted him up to crowd surf (well i did anyway) i believe? Maybe a different point of the gig...whatever. It was indeed totally rad.
100 people
is a slight underestimate.
although i did manage to walk in and walk straight to the front. i then danced myself silly, because they were INCREDIBLE.
Maybe,
but I was at the back and it was barely approaching half full
I never
been lucky enough to witness them live, there just one of those bands notorious for there lack of live dates.
I've heard there spectacular though, but here is them live on the letterman show performing 'Wolf Like Me'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73qBnuzrjx0
amazing
Great great great
stuff, cant wait for album 3.
lol

TV On The Radio lego.
HA look at Tunde!
I want that lego
That's brilliant!! :D
Kyp Malone looks like a Wookie
i put this in another record thread today, but
anyone want to sell me a copy of either LP?
struggling to find them.
that accapella track
does fuck me off by them though
Method?
I think it's great
?
ambulance?
TV Radio are brilliant
am a big fan of desperate youth, bloodthirsty babes.
lol
--------------------------------------------
i don't get it
the cover of Mr. Grieves?!
That is FANTASTIC!
.
http://www.last.fm/music/TV+on+the+Radio/_/Mr.+Grieves
for some reason they had passed me by
until I decided to grab Return To Cookie Mountain the other week. Its one wicked album.
Isn't it
just!
yeah defo
no idea why I didn't get it at the time I knew about it and everything. His voice is awsome.
Classic case of a band that I know I should like,
but there's something there that I just can't get into. Maybe its because the singer sounds like Peter Gabriel being assaulted in a potting shed.
But I like the singles, maybe I should try and give the albums another go.
Am I the only one who isn't in love with this band?
Have you tried listening to
'Province'? It features David Bowie :)
I almost know what you mean
a tiny bit. I loved both albums when I first got them, but I don't listen to them very much now.
Mind you, they are indisputably great live.
They are so fcking good live
ambulance live is probably the best noise there is.
I would agree with this
brought a tear to my eye at ULU.
Staring At The Sun
saw that vid on MTV2 when it first came out and thought WTF!! Loved it so went on a buying spree. Still one of my fav songs. Roll on album 3 indeed. I had tickets to see them at the Garage once but completely forgot to go on the day of the gig. What a doofus.
i remember seeing it on MTV2
and just being like WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?! considering everything else was "The somethings" playing four chords and rocking out.
I really should have got into them then
WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK OF THEIR SELF RELEASED
called 'Ok Calculator'?? i discovered it the other day, very weird but cool to hear how stripped down they started out..
(sorry the caps were to get your attention!)
Yeah, I've
heard about this, but I've never listened to it,
do you own it? *looks on ebay*
no..
i have to admit i spotted it on a blog the other day.. google blog search it and youll find it
Netti Fritti
is the wierdest thing ive ever heard, but it's brilliant :-/
It's weird.
Sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a pretentious way. Doesn't really sound much like they do now, either. Nowhere near as focussed.
4th Album really
Though it's hard to get hold of, 'OK calculator' was the first album, but don't worry because it's a rather poor effort compared to everything else they've ever done. Amusing to spot the bits they realised were good and carried thru to the proper releases...
yeah, exactly
It was an E.P
wasn't it? They've only made two albums, and two E.P's: Young Liars and Ok Calculator.
Granted, mine copy is a d/l
(how else you gonna get it?) but I don't call 18 tracks an EP!
I read
that it was a CD-R that they left around venues in order to get gigs, so never really 'officially' released.
Lol, yeah.
I read an interview with David Sitek, and he said he used to leave them down the side of couches in sofa stores.
That is so
pointless it's brilliant.
Haha
I know.
off your indie horse
in no way shape or form does OK Calculator count as their first record.
They are a brilliant band!
Some of the live stuff on YouTube is really, really good!
Has anyone
heard there cover of yeah yeah yeahs 'modern romance'? It's lovely :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pSqxMW5mtA&feature=related
I'd never heard that cover before
but its ace! I thing tvotr still sound good stripped back like that.
I really want to see them live.
Would love to see them live
Tonight and Playhouses... Fuck me
tonight is one of the best songs
live i've ever seen, by any band.
Dry Drunk Emperor
Is essential too, only released as a download as far as I know. It's ace.
I've been listening to them all day!!
for the first time in a while!! Gotta love them, so bloody brilliant... I'm seriously up for album 3... very very very exciting.
I MUST see them live
I've glad
that we've concluded they are a brilliant band, this has been a great thread :)
Not hugely into them
Never quite liked Cookie Mountain although Wolf Like Me is one of the best songs of the decade.
Staring at the sun is nice too.
i do love them so
but when listening to rtcm i substitute the album version of wolf like me for this version
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73qBnuzrjx0
why couldn;t the album version sound like this??
i can't believe
how long it took me to get into Cookie Mountain. It's utterly wonderful. I really must get the first album sometime.
