Anyone listened to this? It's M.Ward and Zooey Deschanel, and it piddles all over Scarlett Johnannson's album. Her voice has quite a classic feel to it, with tiny similarities to Joanna Newsom in parts (although nowhere near as lovely). Despite its alt-countryish pedigree, it could make a great soundtrack to a 70s NYC-based film. Ah this has cheered me up, all the miserabalists on the social board need to take a listen!

I saw them at SxSW

and they were one of my highlights, gorgeous voice with great melodies and she is sexy as fuck!

I've heard one song

and really liked it. I need to get the album.

bf

It makes me think of an alt country version of Tuesday Weld's single.

I get the impression whoever wrote the melodies had to be fairly conservative to allow for her bleaty and slow moving voice

thanks, bye!

she wrote all the songs herself

according to the liner notes.

Heard good things

Listening now...

This is right up my street, is it out yet?

New music I actually like, who'd have thought?

It's out on Monday

although you can get it on import. Listening again, the harmonies are lovely.

Mine didn't

:(

Not fair.

UK version

comes in a digipack too :)

Now I'm angry.

.

yes

it's a lovely, lovely record <3

.

not even a tenth as good as m wards own stuff though, this isnt even him really, could be anyone on guitar

tiny bit hit and miss,

some tracks are beautifully retro and cool, but a few towards the latter part of the album are just a little off.

really?

I have been listening to this album consistently for the last couple of months, and it brilliant throughout. Then again I like this sort of sleepy music.

I like this a lot

ZOOEY <3

It's brilliant.

Really brilliant.

Can we have a new album from M. Ward though please? PLEASE!

Despite the hotness of the singer

this actually blows goats.

If they were buskers, you wouldn't throw coins at them.

It's my favourite album of the year.

I saw them twice at SXSW this year...

They're very good live but Zooey is strangely lacking in stage presence.
