UK working hours R GAY

Honestly, they're pretty crap. Why don't we have a proper siesta? Why don't things start later? Why don't we, say, do a 3/4 hour shift, have a couple of hours off and then do another one? Why're some places open on Sundays? Why must we work five days out of seven? It does make sense. If i had a company i'd give them Monday mornings off to let them get over the weekend. We'd then work, say, 10-2 & 5-8 Tuesday to Thursday, and flexi-time Fridays, YEAH, then weekends off. What would you do, ideally?

  • The idea of working till 8 doesn't appeal to me.

On any level. I want to be out enjoying the evening before the clock ticks round.

Also, starting work late like that would just mean I spent more mornings in bed. I'd never see any daylight under your proposal. Or get any work done in the afternoon after a three-hour break. Who wants to go back to work after sitting drinking or whatever for three hours??

    Nah.

    • yeah, probably.

but hour-lunches are never enough, and getting up at 7 isn't the future. What about:

      Mon - 12-6
      Tue, Wed & Thurs - 10-2 & 4-7
      Fri - 10-2.30
      Sat & Sun - OFF

      • eveeryone would have to be on pretty

good wages to make any money with hours like that.

      • Hour lunches not enough?

I've not had an hour-long lunch break in months. I'd rather take a half-hour break and leave earlier/come in later.

  • I would cut an hour of my working day

and start at 9 instead of 10.

I would also like 3 day weekends.

  • i work when i want.

and i generally work 8-4 give or take an hour. it's nice finishing early enough to do stuff in the afternoon.

  • Never work in construction

I work 8 till 5.45, yet the other day I got told off for always being "first in, last out". Most people start at 7.30 and a good number start at 7.00. My line manager does 7.00 till 8.00/8.30.

And sometimes you have to work Saturdays.

    Its shite :-(
