Bands you hate, except for one/two songs

Yeah yeah I know this type of thread crops up all the time.

I just wanted to express my disgust for the Stereophonics, but my love for 'Mr Writer'

  • Good call but wrong song!

Their only good song is 'Local Boy In The Photograph'

    • ^^

      agreed

      • ^ exactly

That is their best song by a massive mile. Although there was enough stuff on 'word gets around' to lull you into thinking that they were going to be an awesome band. Tch.

  • MCR

i thought 'Im Not Okay' was a genius pop song. But i cant tolerate the fans and the other songs.

    • is that the one

that sounds like a blatant rip-off of mr.blue sky?

  • The Killers

Poo, apart from All These Things That I've Done, if that's what it's called. I ruddy love that 'un.

    • Good call but wrong song!

Their best song is 'Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine'

      • oddly the only one of

theres i enjoy is that one with Lou Reed

        • me too

i think that song is well good. the rest are really rubbish though.

  • Los Camp

I like Death to... but can't stand anything else.

    • ^^

but I love the Tweecore song so much. I don't hate the rest it's just not my thing. Oh, and I also like 'You Me Dancing!', cos the first 7 seconds sounds like the intro to 'Lot Of Miles From Home' by Easyworld.

  • I absoutley hate Mr Writer.

It'd be high up in any "worst song of all time" list I ever wrote for several reasons (largely lack of tune and "aww, diddums, someone gave me a bad review" self-involved whinge-fucked lyrics).

But I think Local Boy in a Photograph and Dakota are great.

    • ^5

      • no way jose

surely the only stereophonics song worth anyones time is step on my old size 9s

  • Sorry, but that's a horrendous song of epic proportions.

  • Queen!

One or two songs and the rest can get right to fuck!

    • Not hate

But 'Kids' is the only MGMT song I really like.

  • Arctic Monkeys

    Can't abide them at all.

But "Mardy Bum" is a chyoon.

    • ^ same but with 505 instead

      • 505's an amazing song

although I actually quite like much of the second album.

  • There are loads and loads of bands like this.

    Razorlight.
    Coldplay.
    Beck.
    Republica.

The list could go on for hours. Mr Writer is complete pony though.

    • Ha ha

Mr Writer certainly is gash pony. For me its Mystery Jets. I love Young Love. I like Boy Who Ran Away. Everything else puts me on edge.

    • What's the good razorlight song?

      • Stumble & Fall

        • I'll allow it.

if only for the joy of pronouncing 'brakes' as 'burrrr-akes'.

          • The EXACT reason it makes it in, in my mind :)

            • OMG! Have we finally found a song we both like?

              ;)

              • Haha, where is the cololol? I bet he lets us both down on this one.

  • Stereophonics have loads of good songs

    For example

    Just looking
    Thousand trees
    Bartender and the thief
    Roll up and shine
    Pick a part that's New
    Same size feet
    Nice to be out

    There are more

    • agreed

great band - 'Not Up To You' is my favourite

  • The Cribs

Hate them, apart from Men's Needs and Hey Scenesters.

  • Kings Of Leon

I dont really appreciate them that much.

    Apart from the song 'Milk'

    • A really absurd choice here

But I'm going to go with Caroline's A Victim by Kate Nash. I loathe her, yet this song is like the Ed Wood equivalent of music, so shit its good. Just really infectious and ripe for parody, she sounds like Thornton Reed.

  • the stone roses

mostly unreconstructed rubbish, but i love love love "i am the resurrection", and "made of stone" and "she bangs the drums" are pretty good too.

i still detest "fool's gold", though.

  • Foals

Mathletics is catchy as fuck, the rest is just shit.

    • BSP

I only like No Lucifer and Oily Stage

      • I will not acknowledge this post

  • Primal Scream

except for Country Boy and I can't work out why.

  • Queen

Stone Cold Crazy is alright but the rest is pretty horrible to my ears

  • Magic Numbers

Utter, utter tosh for cardigan-sporting commuters apart from Hymn for Her which is strangely awesome

  • The Ting Tings

but Great DJ is fantastic. *Hides*
