such a great thing isn't it?
I mean, during the course of your day you will sit down on many things but only a handful, if you're lucky, of those instances will have involved "having a seat". And having a seat is the best thing ever.

...

They are the words of a man who has recently performed manual labour.

It's brilliant isnt it?

It's also a really nice little bit of language: you don't say "do a sit", you say "have a seat" as if you know the experience will be completely personal but transient.

also it emphasises the offer

this is my chair, but you can use it.

I like the little sigh you issue when you have a seat

like you're a little old man. Aaaah

Yeah

you havn't truly had a seat unless you do a sigh on sitting down then consciously think "ok, sitting down time is ending now, time to stand up". Then you do a little remoresful glance as you leave at the chair/bench or whatever it is.

I really want a seat now.

I mean, I'm sitting on the computer, but I'm not all relaxed and stuff. I'll have to go to the couch and have a good SIT.

Yeah

it's vey difficult to force a seat though. If you're at home it usually requires props that you don't really need but have convinced yourself are linked with relaxation i.e hot drink, magazine etc
it's a tricky business.

I've got Slaughterhouse 5 to read

I think I'll have a seat and read that, maybe with a whiskey. Mmmm

Without wanting to sound too much like a bad stand up,

the best time to 'have a seat' is during a shopping trip, and usually when with a female acquaintance

Problem is, just as you sit down and get all "aaaaaaaaaah", they signal to leave the shop and you have to get straight back up again, which is rubbish

^ So, so this

Whenever I do it, I know I'm ready to be a father.

It can be one of lifes

most pleasurable experiences, indeed. Having someone bring you a cup of tea whilst you are seated, well, only adds to the pleasure.
