I want an explanation as to why my thread was deleted.

It was called 'Not Made In The 80s'. I was talking about why people shouldn't brag about being born in the 80s, but why people should brag about not being born in it.

Did it upset someone?

PS. I would have completely forgotten about it but someone else told me about it so yeah. Where the fuck is it? And why?

^ Is Madonna?

attention-seeker?

Hands up.

:D

Oh the ironing

what's wrong with being born in the 80s?

Me = '88

Only two years old before the 90s.

Hardly think it matters.

Nothing. But don't brag about it,

because its officially the worst decade of all time.

Without copping out, it was tongue in cheek, obviously. I don't think that 80s people should be terminated or anything, but maybe someone posted something nasty in the thread after I'd gone to bed.

Dunno.

Worst decade of all time?

How....

There was great music, great films etc?

But I was only two years old at the time...

surely, I don't count?!

worst decade?

suck off.

born in the 80s = growing up in the 90s/00s

which, from where i'm standing, is pretty fucking cool.

I wish I'd been this age in the later 80s or early 90s

If we're talking about music an' that.

in DC, right?

cos the internet doesn't exist yet! you can't download shit or import records (without sending off a cheque in the post)

Nah

GRUNGE.

I realise that if I had actually been this old in the 80s, I would probably be listening to Kenny Loggins.

ohhhh, seattle then?

yeah, would've been pretty cool.
to be a PART OF SOMETHING.

Listen to me.

The Stone Roses were GOOD, but not THAT GOOD.

GOD, when are you going to realise this?

this is correct

thyve got some tunes and some dull boring tripe, not even one of the bands of the 90s in terms of quality. maybe in terms of people remembering them and loving them but jesus they were ok, just ok

Their first album came out in 1989.

It's fucking ace.

this thread has made me feel old and miserable...

I'm glad the original thread was taken down.

I was only two years old when the 90s began, and now I've been tarnished by the big neon 80s brush for the rest of my life... *cries*

I'm totally on Wrightylew's side here.

I spent the age of 5-15 in the 80s and it was pretty damn shit.

but it's BORN in the 80s,

not lived through.
so yeah, if it was lived through i'd probably feel the same, but i was born in, which meant i could bypass all the bad taste stuff.

Learn how the board works

I was replying to the thread where he stated "its officially the worst decade of all time" and I was agreeing with that.

?!?!?!!?

HOW CAN YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THE POINT WE'RE MAKING, YOU COMPLETE DUFFLECOAT?!?!

WE KNOW YOU'RE AGREEING, WE'RE JUST SAYING THAT...OH, FUCK IT. I GIVE IN.

ergo, born in 1980 means you grew up in 1980

so clearly it's not the same as growing up in the 1990s.

I have about 3 memories of this 1980's 'growing up'.

I 'grew up' in the 90s. I was born in the 80s.

It's not hard to grasp, dude. Just remember that I have the memory of a coriander seed.

Hey me too.

I don't remember much of anything. The 80s were still shit and I have about four memories of them.

But you weren't born in it.

You lived through it. It may have been shit for you, but as I only have about six memories of the entire decade despite having only missed 20 days of it, it was pretty inconsequential for me. I was born in the 80s, so started remembering stuff in the 90s. When good things happened. Like Terrorvision and the Lightning Seeds.

you should have joined us for some

drunk Lightning Seeds singing at Zonino, instead of wasting your time breaking the Windmill

Don't you mean some absolutely hilarious

Andrew WK singing?

CARRRRRAZY

Don't diss the WK brother.

He IS the party.

i was born in the 90's

you're all old!

I was born in the 70s.

AND I know not to use an apostrophe there. COME ON!!!!

gives EVERYONE in Bristol a bad name

I called him a twat when he came in to Zavvi.

He took it pretty well. He bought a Transformers boxset, he really IS obsessed with the 80's.

nice work

Bit harsh

Surely he wasn't born in the 80s,

more likely he lived through them, but not born in them? He's way too old!

He supports city.

I KNEW twat wasn't a severe enough insult.

yeah, that sealed it for me too.

i think he's kinda harmless but he does grate.

I think he lived near me

when we lived in Southville.

I'm sure I saw him in the throng of shitheads making their way to the gate

34 according to Wikipedia

Justin Lee Collins (born 28 July 1974) is an English

hehehe :D

I think it went on to state ' comedian'

but I wasn't sure that was actually correct.

Well ALMOST 34 then.

I just saw the year to be honest and added one to my age.

People born in the 90s make no sense to me whatsoever

"What year were you born in then?"

"1991"

"What? How's that even possible?"

It's like when you glimpse those signs behind certain bars.

'To legally drink in here the date on a customer's ID must be before...July 9th, 1990'.

I'D JUST CHEERED OMAN BIYIK ON AGAINST ARGENTINA. AND YOU WERE BEING BORN? I NEED TO BUY SOME NEW SLIPPERS.

Haha, incredible.

You might have picked one of only about four dates in my entire life that I can instantly tell you what I was doing on. It was my mate Sab's eighth birthday and we went to McDonald's. We got a tour of the fridge and stuff. It was brilliant.

A tour of the fridge?

"And this is the ice tray...and this is the bit where we put the big bottles"

No, the massive walk in fridge.

They shut us in there. It was scary, but WELL COOL. They then let us out. We giggled. My friend John might have made a joke about it. I can't be sure.

Stop being spineless little amphibians

and tell me why the thread got deleted.

I don't care about your crappy attempts to redeem the fact the 80s was responsible for the worst music and fashion since some stupid pre-war decade. I just want to know what it was about the thread that upset you.

i aint deleted no threads in weeks.

fullerov? dalkin? neecho? london admins?

.

The Replacements
The Minutemen
Fugazi
Husker Du
Bad Brains

good music :)

The only one I've heard of is Husker Du,

and the only reason I've heard of them is that they did a cover of Eight Miles High.

I've not heard it, but the chances of it being better than the original (which is my ultimate favourite song) are under 1%.

It really is pretty good.

Phil...try giving things a chance.

You seem to sometimes, and you often seem slightly surprised.

NEVER!

No... chances... NEVER.

:)

actually

he would like the replacements.

almost definately

indeed

as ryan adams wants to be paul westerberg sooooo much

As I said earlier, I'm glad the thread got deleted

The main reason being is that you've tarnished a lot of people who lived the first innocent couple years of their lives toward the latter end of the 80s (in my case, '88) blissfully unaware of culture, society, politics, fashion etc. under the same stroke as people who actually lived their youth absorbing the culture of the decade.

And now, now you've made me feel old, miserable, unfashionable and yucky.

*cries some more*

Are you being serious?

Do people actually care this much about my stupid, groundless, uneducated rants?

This is tragic.

Apparently not a product of the 80s

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mullet_%28haircut%29

but certainly the subject of some heated debate. The section on history and cultural significance is of great interest.

yeah!

Probably deleted due to

extreme boredom.

I was born in the 60's and it weren't all that. 70's only got good in the last four years of the decade and 80's petered out in 1984.

90's really were shit.

God.

You're absolutely ancient. I thought you were about 8. Turns out you're about 8 million.

but Radiohead were formed in the 80s

also, i think there were a lot of decades that were worse.

Name them.

20s-40s - amazing blues and jazz decades, Gershwin, and just generally things being very authentic
50s - more amazing blues and jazz and rocknroll
60s - needs no explanation
70s - starts to go downhill, but lots of very very good music still to be found
80s - :O
90s - did a good effort of recovering from the worst decade ever
00s - first half - WELL GOOD, second half - STILL GOOD

I don't like Donovan or Jason Donovan.

Which one did Mellow Yellow?

I spoke about her yesterday in the thread.

She was apparently the sex symbol of the 80s.

She looked fucking minging in the 80s. Her music also minged.

I like her 1997 direction quite a lot, but before and since, she's not fit to polish my collection of pedestrian snooze rock CDs.

so you don't like her

a lot more people did.
