Soul Coughing was definintely a cool, cool band. Sycopation up the wazoo, upright bass, slam poet lyrics, guitarist played a big, green, hollow body guitar that smelled like cough syrup. I saw them with Jeff Buckley and the whole place had a weird chemical mint smell when he was on stage and I was paranoid it was coming from that weird, green guitar.
You'll love Ruby Vroom! The other two are quite good, but nothing like R.V.
