Has this ever been done in a good way that isnt Seinfeld? Was it very much of it's time? Why is it still on tv in the form of "grumpy old men/women"

Thats what I would say

Infact, pretty much all funny comedy is based on reality and being able to somehow realte is what makes it funny.
I think the line should be drawn under the obvious observational stuff. The stuff that is so obvious that it isn't even a joke, it's just saying "black men drive like this "boo boo boo", white men drive like this "bee bee bee"". White men have names like Lenny, black men have names like Karl etc

have you ever noticed....

that black guys drive like this **laid back, one armed driving** but white guys drive like this ** tense, hunched, two handed driving

What did I just say?

Racist

balls

have you ever noticed....
that gina yashire's mum is not from england?

Have you ever noticed...

that Gina Yashire has a big fuck-off birthmark on her neck? Makes me fucking sick.

Lol.

I love it when people express severe disdain with the words 'It makes me fucking sick''.

I saw loadsa comedy on da weekend

and I think most comedy is observational in some shape or form. Taking something then showing it in a diffrent light for luaghs. Even serreal stuff has a firm grounding in normal everyday stuff around us.

Charlie Brooker

Bill Hicks

What's the deal with Ovaltine?

The mug is round.
The jar is round.
They should call it Roundtine.

...

BANIA.

i was watching 'how to'

way back when, and they did a big explanation about socks that go missing in the wash, and it turns out that they go inside your duvet cover, the little scamps.

no but they actually just disappear!

I bet they go to an alternate sock universe! haha how funny would that be! I bet all the odd socks are really lost and confused. God that would be hilarious!!!

nothing funny

about it at all. lost in a strange sock planet, only hoping to be one day reunited with their mate. not funny at all, sir!

What's with those fat women who get diet coke

to go with there X-tra large triple whopper meal?
Come on!

Has anyone noticed how Mrs. Pirtley

has taken three loads of rubbish to the bins outside?! Her barbeque was weeks ago and she didn't even invite Fat Tommy!

...i admit it's a highly subjective form of observational comedy.

Jerry Seinfeld

was always a pretty poor stand-up. Great sitcom, though.
