Nu metal...
...will come back if you encourage it even slightly.
Nu-Mental
is f.o.n.c.e
F.O.N.C.E.?

Sit on it foncey!
did you just make up this acronym?
it isn't wrong that you like music.
wah wah wah look for validation elsewhere.
you are just all over that aren't you?
amazing, I never got that approval suck angle till I came to your post- what a approval suck cop you are.
It pains me everytime Korn gets called nu-metal. I like Jonathan Davis' assessment of Korn- "Phat Original Band"- and yeah, they are.
he says he likes something which is embarrassing for him to reveal,
and then says "oh! but i do like obscure music too!"
i'm just practising my sermon. people! like what you like! you like it, therefore to make it a guilty practise in your mind is some form of torture! "i like this band but what are my friends going to say!"
who gives a flying fuck? whether the artist is black, white, old, young, singing in a different language, composing in 1647, only alive since 1997, in magazines, in zines instead, whether the artist is good-mannered, an arsehole you'd never want to talk to in your life, it's all. just. music. something created by other people for their and your enjoyment. and really, ONLY theirs and yours.
peer pressure. to hell with it!
oh, and i do know i'm probably being too harsh in this particular case,
but it's something which affects not only music, but fashion, relationships, food and drink choices, your entire fucking life. and it's dumb. like what you like - it'll make you happy.
no.
as long as it's not all you listen to - 100% Korn turn Jonny into a meathead!
Korn is
Gash pop metal. They wrote some songs with The Matrix... which is pretty much the worst indictement on your talent as a musician ever. They're so fucking lame they get Avril Lavigne's songwriting team in to finish their records.
The Matrix is a music production team, consisting of Scott Spock, Lauren Christy, and Graham Edwards. They gained fame in the early 2000s after writing and producing a series of hits for Avril Lavigne, Jason Mraz, Shakira, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Busted, Skye Sweetnam and Hilary Duff to name a few. They then went on to cowrite and produce "See You On The Other Side" for Korn which sold over 2 million worldwide.
I am starting to again. Well, sort of.
For me, it's more of a nostalgia thing - I used to listen to Slipknot, Korn, Staind, etc, when I was at school, and when every so often I hear music from that period, it evokes a lot of great memories. So, for me, it's more about the emotions I've attached to the music, rather than the music itself, which is irredeemably awful.
There's fuck all wrong with listening to it
or even liking it I guess... as long as you accept DEATH TO FALSE METAL.
I don't make a point of listening to it at all.
But, if I hear a song of that ilk, I will probably listen to it as, as I have said earlier, it evokes many a great memory from my school days. The music is completely and utterly terrible, I'm in no doubt of that, but I enjoy revelling in the nostalgia it stirs.
the I'm the Man remix from the Killer Bs album, covering Bring the Noise?
FALSE METAL
but
blind is so dark and got the life is fuckin groovy.
theres something to korn (well old korn) that is cool (a lot cooler than other nu-metal bands).
plus slipknot were and still are a quality band.
A bit ironic
that Anthrax pretty much created rap-metal. Bring the Noise is great though.
Not really
Deftones are genius!
*bring tha noize
-
Not really
They did a collab... they weren't a rap metal band. Faith No More are probably way more guilty.
So yeh, completely unironic. Also... that would be suggesting that all rapping with metal is shit... when it plainly isn't... Fight For Your Right, No Sleep Till Brooklyn, First Rage Against The Machine Record, Bring The Noise and a bunch of other stuff is actually pretty decent.
True, but it's probably the first
rap-metal song. Faith No More had a lot of songs without rapping in too.
The majority of metal with rapping is painfully bad, let's face it. I wouldn't count the Beasties as they were primarily a hip-hop act with jokey rock elements.
And yeah, I'm aware they started
as an NYHC band.
Anthrax did jokey a Beasties style rap song as well.
It's not very good, but they still saw fit to update/remake it a few years later so it kept up with the way hiphop had progressed. It was even less good.
Their metal did used to be really terrific though.
They should never have fired John Bush - the new guy SUCKS and the songs are so fucking dull generic ozzfest side stage opening band weak metal.
You say that
Yet you posted a video of a Korn gig.
because
Korn at the height of their powers where the kings of nu-metal and this is a thread about going back a reliving your nu-metal days and I had a few of those back during my gcses.
you forgot downset.
Best rap-metal band ever.
anthrax are too masculine to be anything but stupid
better for cleaning my ass with
masculine? stupid? METAL?
strike while the iron is hot
steel is strongest
so say we all
TUUUUUUNE. so many memories of me bein 11 flashing back
SPINESHANK!!!
Dammit, I wish I was 12 again!
please dont encorage nu-metal to apear again
listen to it in you own time sure but dont go spreading the word far and wide so other people remeber it exists... hehe
it's coming back
even Jay-Z was busting out some of his Linkin Park stuff at Glasto
thats true :-s
I heard Linkin Paks new one on the radio the other day too or at least I think it was them and DMX sounded like it anyway.
the songs i heard from the last linkin park album
sounded like U2
but look at Projekt Revolution, Linkin Park headlining Milton Keynes Bowl this year!
they are well loved
I have even seen them many many years ago. I have also seen Limp Bizkit and Stained who had Puddle of Mud suporting man that was a lame show I'm so glad I was stoned for that.
I dont think I could handel a nu-metal revival of people taking it to a new level. I might even prefer Nu-Rave to that... maybe......
If nu-metal came back
it wouldn't be 'nu' any more, surely?
nu-nu-metal?
Uber-Metal
Rap-Metal
Pap-Metal
Cruck-Core
I dont know
2 years time
nu-metal revival.
i shall lead it. dont hate me
Mad Capsule Markets
were vaguely nu metal, they were good. Errr, that's it really.
heheh
you are forgiven.
nu-metal revival can only be two bands
Korn and Limp Bizkit. All the others are just imitating them- sad but true.
Well, if DiS is backing nu-metal, surely the revival isn't too far around the corner. Now I'll have to dig out my red NY Yankees cap and baggy jeans with chains hanging from them. Ahhhhh, to be 12 again.......
Kinda
but also kinda not.
My housemate and I went to a rave on saturday...but got bored and came home and blasted out lots of Nu-metal whilst pretty high on MD.
In fact
I'm gonna add my Korn and Slipknot albums to Itunes.
:D
it is wrong that you haven't been listening to it all the time
slipknot ftw
also, if you feel like you've let down kerry king, james hetfield and the other gids of metal, listen to GORGOROTH! WWW.MYSPACE.COM/GORGOROTH <- true norwegian black metal
