I use to listen to it loads, now I don't even listen to Lamacq. Can this all be down to George Lamb? Just curious whether many other people have stopped...

This is me

I was gona start giving it a try but had to avoid it since Lamb got goin.

I read that wrong

I need another coffee...

I was gona listen to 6 music but had my plans sucuppered thanx to lamb.

I used to only listen

in the evening so never experienced George Lamb until I forgot my ipod at work one day so had a listen and vowed never to again. I really respected 6music until then. Lamb's show is just a Chris Moyles rip off with vaguely more interesting music.

never listen these days...

haven't listened to 6music in months now.

at first i hated george lamb but can now see he's done me a massive favour, as i've found so many different internet radio stations i wouldn't have bothered with a year ago.

even nme radio is better than 6music.

6music has gone all 'smashie and nicey'. i hate shaun keavney and nemone is dull, the playlist is also too limited. by the time steve lamacq comes on i'm starting to think about winding down at work.

shame it was good for a while.

I've pretty much stopped

and it has a good deal to do with george lamb. I listen to it occasionally (adam & joe, gideon coe) but it annoys me too much nowadays.

Radio 4, Radio 3 and iTunes shuffle FTW

I HATE GEORGE LAMB

kthxbye

my housemate seems to start every sentence with

"i was listening to the george lamb show..." or "when we were on the george lamb show...". aside from this he is very cool.

george lamb is no reason to stop listening to the whole station, surely.....

I NEVER listen to george lamb (obv!), but still listen to marc riley, lamacq, gideon coe, adam and joe, guy garvey, russell howard, stuart maconie, tom robinson, sometimes nemone in the afternoon...
Basically if george lamb is on use listen again to listen to someone decent!

Guy Garvey

has SUCH a good voice on the radio and on records. He generally has a good voice. He's become the Housewife's Choice.

I listen more...

since I first heard George Lamb. And since Jupitus left.

To be fair it's only because if I wake up to George Lamb, it's one of those experiences where you aren't sure if you're dreaming or not, because what you can hear from the radio is verging on 100% nonsense. Words don't form proper sentences etc. So that's fun when you're half asleep.

(I also think he's pretty funny sometimes)

when do you wake up....?!

jupitus was the breakfast show wasn't he, but george lamb has the late morning slot...
i.e. get a job lazy ;)

Me

cant stand the fella. Pretentious toss.

i'm a wanker student

with 4 hours of teaching a week.

These days i'm working nights at Morrisons.

I woke up

to George Lamb once and thought "what's he doing in my bed?"

.

R u fukin mental glen? Can i have a shabba for my fanta?

I've found myself listening less

But, other than not listening to BBC6 in the morning, I doubt that's to do with George Lamb.

when those sirens

and the 'Sh-sh-sh-shabba! shabba!' wail uncontrolably, its a warning to turn off 6music.

Bring back Gideon Coe

to the 10am slot, he was a lot better.
Lamb and Nemone are radio 1 type Djs, not 6 music.

I turn it off at 10am

then back on at 1pm.

I'd rather listen to the washing machine than him.....

At 10 am

I switch from "listen live" to "listen again" and put Marc Riley or Gideon Coe or Adam and Joe or Guy Garvey on.

makes no difference to me

i'm at work, so never listened to 6Music in the morning anyway. If anything I listen to 6Music MORE now that Marc Riley's got 4 nights a week...

i have got to be honest..

i have been working in a warehouse for the last three weeks to raise some moneys, and they put george lamb on in there from 10-1 every day, and i would be lying if i said i didn't find it/him pretty funny. it's entertaining in a stupid, brainless way and obvs some of the music played is good (even if he knows next to nothing about it.)

what i would say however, is that by no means should his show be on 6music in the first place. how the hell they can justify putting him on a station that is supposedly the bbc's flagship 'alternative' station is beyond me..

hi

If all you guys are saying you listen less,

or have stopped listening, surely they'd (the Beeb bosses) have sacked him by now? 'Cuz there seems to be a lot who've done this!? Personally, I don't listen to his show and don't really listen to 6music as much anymore.

the thing is..

i think his ratings are higher than anything else on 6 music at the moment because he is popular with 'normal' people rather than the average 6 music listener - (sorry i didn't know how else to put it).

This is true

but that's why its so much nonsense really. The whole idea of 6Music is to be a break from the norm, to cater for a more 'niche' market. You can't set up a 'niche' station then worry when it gets 'niche' listening figures. The BBC needs to stop bottling it and be proud that it caters for all aspects of society. George Lamb's presence on 6Music defies the whole point of the station.

^ exactly

this is the whole point why george lamb shouldn't be on there.

It seems stranges

that they'd keep him on if so many don't like or listen to him, though. Oh well!

I'm sure plenty do like him and listen

there's a whole lot of cultural peasants out there. People who think shouting 'shabba' every 5 secs till the end of time is genius level comedy. Probably nicked some XFM and Virgin listeners *shudder*

My only interraction with 6music

nowadays is Adam and Joe.

Haha watch the trailer for this show

And look at him trying out his caring face while trying to restrain a smirk about how funny a fat girl looks. What a guy!

yup

.

That's a pretty strong reaction

I've never actually listened to George Lamb - what makes him such a bad DJ?

..

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=george+lamb&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

read result ten.

but srsly, george lamb is SO GOOD.

I stopped

listening when George Lamb started, except I listen to Russell Howard on sunday morning, but thats it.

I rarely listen to it in the week anymore

because of him and nemone is pretty boring. I listen to it more often at weekends because of A&J and Steve Merchant though

Although he has his detractors...

...the list of the last week's DJ choices that aren't playlisted read like this:

Pharcyde - Drop
Eddie Grant - Nobodys Got Time

Tue
The Kinks - Nothin' In The World Can Stop Me Worryin' Bout That Girl
Bumblebee Unlimited - Lovebug

Wed:
Chemical Brothers - Midnight Madness
Beck - Gamma Ray

Thurs:
Just Brothers - Sliced Tomatoes
Toots & The Maytals - Bim Today
Sly & The Family Stone - Trip To Your Heart

Fri:
Freq-a-zoid - Midnight Star
Liquid Liquid - Cavern
Patrice Rushen - Forget Me Nots

A lot of which would be replaced by dull Wedding Present B-Sides by most of the other presenters. Although it's almost certainly Marc Hughes that chooses them rather than George Lamb, you'll generally get to hear more obscure disco, old house and hip hop than you would on most of the other shows, even if it is only restricted to the 2 or 3 tracks a show that the presenters get to choose.

I don't see in what way this is a defence

to be honest, I'm not very interested in house/disco/hip hop music. But to those who are, wouldn't it be better just to get some person who plays these and who isn't a complete twat?

i've never, ever heard...

a wedding present b-side played once on 6music during the day and i listened to it religiously for years.

I've been trying to get BBC 6 streaming online

Cause I heard that it is indeed good radio (something have not yet experienced in 54 years) and to see what all the Geoge Lamb brouhaha is about.

don't bother mate

it's not worth it. just google 'twat' and whatever comes up, that's George Lamb.

did you ever listen to mark and lard?

george lamb is kinda the 16-year-old myspace addict version of those guys.
but i kinda like him. the banter between him and his mates is funny, i think he puts on his apparent ignorance and, yeah, he plays a lot of good music.
i don't see a lot to dislike about him apart from his arrogance, but whatever.

i like

George Lamb.
he's just quite fun.

Why are the BBC so obsessed with dumbing everything down?

If people want 'hilarious' banter from an inane presenter and their 'gang' of sycophants they can tune into Radio 1.

Why ruin a decent little station that served a niche audience well?

I'll bet the Asian Network would pick up more audience share if they ditched all of their culturally specific content, it would sort of defeat the object of the fucking exercise though! Ergo for 6 Music.

Its amazing

Its really great 6music, i havent listened to george lamb but I can say that Shaun Keaveany and Russell Howard/Jon Richardson are really good!
