I'm going to try tuna steaks today. Has anyone got any serving suggestions? Actually do you fry them, or oven them or what? It's all a bit new to me.

*I'm conscious of the fact that I've started quite a few threads today. This will be my last tonight.

Are you drunk enough.....

for me to disregard this answer?

Raw/fresh?

Squeeze lime over.

Lime interesting....

I was going to put a Jalapeano sauce over it and fry it?

^knows

good work.

never cooked them myself

but the parents always used to cook them with tinned tomatoes, chopped peppers, onions, and lots of garlic. was yum. i THINK they fried them first, then stuck all the gubbins in, but don't hold me to that. you can definitely use the oven though

Oooh....

I actually have all those ingredients.

On a bed of rice and some steamed vegetables on the side?

I've always found tuna steaks nothing but disappointing.

They're like the turkey of seafood.

....

well thats why I'm going for it, cos I heard its a bit bland, and I'm not much of a fish person.

^ This is my favourite post today.

Or, as Jessica Simpson would say, it's like chicken of the sea.

Simple is best.

Grill, then add a tiny knob of butter, squeeze of lemon or lime juice and freshly grind black pepper.

They're like beef steaks

i.e. best just flash-fried and served rare. The best tuna I've ever had was seared in Japanese spices, so you might want to try that if you have the ingredients available. Otherwise a fresh tomato salsa goes nicely - just some diced tomato, onion, lime juice, balsamic vinegar and coriander.

Oh, and if you have an leftovers

put the salsa into a bowl with some mayo and tabasco sauce, stir it together, break the tuna into smallish pieces, place on a piece of buttered bread, spoon the salsa/mayo mixture over the top, grate some cheese on top of that, cover with another slice of bread and stick it in a George Foreman grill. Actually. Amazing.

That wasn't bad, even if I do say so myself

Salt & peppered the tuna, spread a bit of jalapeno sauce on it. Fried and served it on a bed of rice, with some fried chopped greenandredpepperandchilliandcherrytomato ting on the side.

I may have it again.
