Saw The National close Glasto on sunday with the most enthralling show i've seen in a long time.
Obviously i've got the magnificent Boxer and Alligator but was wondering if it was worth investing in s/t and Sad Songs..
I've heard they are more country tinged, but Sad Songs was produced by Peter Katis. I don't illegaly download so was wondering if either are worth my hard earned?
Yes, "Sad Songs..." is well worth your cash!
Do it
if only for Cardinal Song.
and i'd definately shell out for the cherry tree ep
about today and cherry tree are just the most lovely lovely songs!
Listened to Sad Songs
for the first time yesterday. Do it.
Also
does this link work for anyone:

Meant to say that I have been
trying for days.
Not working at the moment
But it was yesterday. Great performance.
thanks
i'll investigate further. Anyone listened to the Virginia EP?
Virgina EP is pretty good
if you're already a fan, it's worth it, plus you can get an hour long documentary about the making of Boxer (called A Skin, A Night)
The National
The first album is a bit weird so you could probably avoid it, apart from american mary the rest on the album is poor in my opinion
I personally feel
you should definitely buy both albums, especially if you really liked them live.90 mile waterfall is a brilliant song, I think it's on sad songs.
I love cloudberry jam
A friend brought me some from Sweden. I am making a batch of raspberry freezer jam today! Nothing like pulling a jar of that out of freezer long about mid January.
The Cherry Tree EP is excellent
Worth it just for About Today.
I really like the first two albums as well, but they tend to get forgotten about in the light of Boxer/Alligator.
I funking wish I saw these at Glastonbury.
Damn my friends.
Murder Me Rachel
On Sad Songs is a great tune as well, and its in their set, or it was when i saw them at Koko in 06
.
Cherry Tree
then Sad Songs are my favourite National albums.
and then Alligator or Boxer (not sure which) after them.
So yes, buy the ep and Sad Songs (as said above, 90 mile water wall is great).
I've not got the first album though. Never quite been enticed to get it for some reason.
They're both gorgeous
particularly Sad Songs... Definitely get both!
sad songs is great
thats what got me into them, mademe check them out at the Camden Barfly in 05
