Hey, danny here again at Charm Factory : )

Got a video from Jay Z and the Hook Up @ MySpace just before his live set at Glastonbury. Jay Z is so confident, it's pretty unreal! Absolute hero.

Check it out!

is this

him and Westwood!?
this "interview" made me hate Westwood a whole lot more.

that

made me hate jay-z too.

okay, this is what it looks like; we get it.

yea...

i don't really know why he said that so much, but i guess he was pumped up before he had to go on...

westwood

is a cunt
serious
jay-z has a right to be confident
i think you and i would be that confident after his successes.

THIS.

IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.

CHECK OUT DEM WALLABEEZZ

DAT IS OLD SCHOOL

Oh dear

Bit harsh of Westwood to say 'WAS respected artist' about Noel Gallagher.

True though

Plus, Jay-Z's word's of wisdom... "Whatever people think about me is none of my business" has now entered my lexicon forever. Couldn't say the same for Noel Gallagher, even though he's apparently "witty".

noel gallagher said today

"i like jay z. i just thought it wouldn't fit in on at main stage in glastonbury. if people are offended be my opinions stop asking me fucking questions", which was prety funny

But

you can't apply that to everyday life, unless you're famous. Whereas the nugget "Whatever people think of me is none of my business" you can!

Basically

yes. Awful awful piece of footage. Westwood is trying far too hard to pander and build Jay-Z up than do a proper interview.

What is the upshot of all the Jay-Z-centric jazz on this forum?

Did he make such a splash in the UK? Or is it just somekind of nagging controversy?

I think

that England has been outed once more as a deeply conservative country, scared shitless by change. Also Glastonbury has now been completely assimilated into the mainstream and is the property of the mindless masses. Who tend to be racist. Not that they'd admit it.

I want to disagree with you,

but I just can't!

A Non-British take

Well, change scares anybody. Barak Obama is running his whole campaign on that very word "change" and I know that is scaring quite a few people. Most Obama supporters recognize that the "change" he is referring to is more of a change in Washington. But I think a lot of folks are scared that the "change" goes deeper than that and not all of those scared folks are white. I think black people in America fear the that the "change" is going to mean a letting go of the past. Change will mean becoming more "American" and less "black". Change will mean a whole change of attitude. And some whites fear losing their position as Non-Blacks by having a Black leader. It's so weird over here right now and it's gonna get a lot weirder.

I have always found (not from true experience mind you) that one of the most endearing aspects of post-war British society is it's profound polarity. Monty Python really made it's career by examining just that. Stodgy conservatism with a bizarre, off kilter underbelly. British artists seem much more flamboyant because of where they come from. People expect American artists to be rebellious cause America was founded on those precepts. American entertainers have long considered conquest of British audiences to be proof in the pudding- screw the old adage about New York "if I can make it here; I can make it anywhere" - one must rock Merry Olde England.

Some really good points

It just seems in this country that anything truly interesting , underground, vibrant or dangerous is co-opted, sanitised and sucked dry for commercial gain. In that process it is made more conservative and anything radical removed so that the rest of the population can handle it.

The good thing about this country is we keep coming up with new ideas so that we don't have to live in the mainstream.

I can imagine Obama is making a lot of people scared. But hats off to America for a change, at least something is changing politically. Over here you can't slide a fag paper between Conservative or Labour. It comes down to who would you prefer to shaft you this time round.

Same over here

When rap and hip-hop first came on the scene everyone started hawking their wares with rap phrasology. And I remember how the rap community was up in arms about it (cause they weren't making money on it) and me thinking how funny it was that most of those guys that the "rap spokesmen were imitating would just as soon pop a cap in their customers arses. now hardly anyone does that. I just saw a Maroon 5 candy bar display in a convenience store yesterday- that's a lose / win situation there- candy loses. I am dreaming of the day when I see a Liars / Pizza Hut or Mentos commercial.

that ain't crass commercialism it's just good, atristic business sense.

Well,

It was reported today that his album sales had seen a five-fold increase since the festival, though I'm guessing that's an increase from a pretty low base.

err he is off his tits in this right?

he pacing from side to side and gurnng his tits off like some sort of ripped up caged puma. Pass the phet please Mr Zee.

This. Is what it looks like.

just reread this ^^ post

sorry everyone.

i wish i was westwood for a day

so i could go up to famous black men and say "WHAT'S UP MY BROTHER?"

also

westwood looks SO sexually attracted to him when he says "people always want to see you jay" with tears in his eyes

For

a brief moment I believe Westwood stares at his crotch.

: )
