Quick! Help me with a work colleague (Fleet Foxes-centric)

A colleague on another floor has just leant me the Fleet Foxes album to listen to this afternoon - I've never heard it before.

The problem is, i'm quite happy listening to Girls Aloud and such like on my iPod (for the Friday feelin innit)

Therefore can you supply me with some phrases to make it appear like I've bothered with it please?

Cheers

  • "I've been meaning to listen to this since I saw the Pitchfork review

    Shame it's overrated shit."

    That'll do yer.

    • "it's a

bit wan. Like warm milk. Not hot. Warm. Warm milk with nutmeg on top that forms a skin like the scab you might find on a child's knee after it has just fallen in a puddle."

  • "i like that one with the vocal harmonies"

    • "i like the album cover

i wonder what rating the Daily Mail gave it"

  • girls aloud > fleet foxes.

give him some girls aloud and tell him pitchfork gave it a 9.0.

    • Close

Girls Aloud got 8.5 I think. The greatest hits that is.

  • "Yeah man, it's cool, Beach Boysy"

There's a ready made quote for you. Seriously though, you should give it a listen, its quite good.

  • Why havent you listend?

because it's not cool too anymore? people like yoiu make me sick

    • No!

Because I'm not cool enough to know it was ever cool enough to now say it's not cool enough to listen to.

In other words, I've just not really heard of them. There's no sinister indie-fashionista agenda here man.

      • er.. try listening to them

and just describing howw they sound?

        • I guess I could... i'd never really thought of that

(reminds me of a roland rat sketch in which Kevin has made a 'rain detection device' which is pushed under the front door... 'Why not just look out of the window? uuuuuuhhhh' asks Roland...)

  • your inclusion of "another floor"

    has made me curious.

by how many floors do you differ? this is important in order to give you the best advice.

    • we're two floors apart

      • this changes everything

but seriously, just tell him what he wants to hear: it's good, your music taste is good, you are good, etc. etc.

workplace politics will remain stable and everyone will be happy.

  • Cheers for all your help

(apart from yesiamaduck who seemed to abuse me for no real reason).

I'm going to return the CD now and will ad-lib with phrases like

    'ethereal beach boysy'
    'harmonies blended in perfection'
'like, some sort of neo-new-folk vibe man'
'it's trad, but with bloody americana going through it like a stick of rock'

    Have a good weekend!
