Fabric/ FabricLive albums

I could imagine Diplo's FabricLive 24 playing out the most fun of parties. Not that I imagine that often, in my room alone, bopping my head...

Ricardo Villalobos' Fabric 36 album is another favourite of mine. If you know of any other great minimal techno producers/DJs, feel free to recommend away.

For a friend's flat-warming party, I've just ordered the Ellen Allien Fabric 34 CD.

What are your favourite Fabric mix CDs?
Have they soundtracked anyone's particularly memorable parties?

  • Erm

I know Spank Rock FabricLive 33, thats pretty good.

    I dont go to parties.

  • ivan smagghe's

is an absolute classic imo.. one of the best without doubt.. also really enjoyed MANDY's relatively recent effort.. but its all about lucianos forthcoming fabric mix, which looks like it should be IMMENSE! hopefully the best yet...

  • I havn't listeneed to many of these but

James Lavelle's Fabric Live 01 was amazing

    • I first heard DJ Shadow

through his Global Underground 'Barcelona' CD, which I thought was great. I may buy this. Does his FabricLive mix have a dark , bass-heavy atmosphere to it?

      • Yeah I'd say so

it starts off an almost old school electro vibe before going into serious heavy breakbeat but still stays funky unlike his GU romania mix which was a little more progressive(still good though).

  • It's all about

DJ Yoda's it's the most fun party CD this year aside from Girl Talk.

The Evil Nine one was responsible for me jumping on board the whole Ed Banger thing... and the John Peel one is the definition of eclectic.

  • the high contrast one

got me into drum and bass

  • My faves

include Villalobos, Ellen Allien, Marcus Intalex, Scratch Perverts is good, but a bit dated, but my all time fave is Adam Freeland's one. It begins and ends epically.

    • Link bookmarked!

      Thank you very much indeed.

    • Seconded the freeland one

Michael Mayer's has great tunes but is shitly mixed. Also Ralph Lawson, Ellen Allien and Villalobos have made excellent ones.
To be honest they're mostly quite high quality. Luciano's one should arrive any day now. yes yes yes

  • The

Cut Copy one is very good.

  • Spank rock

    .always.

  • Herbaliser

Is great fun. I liked High Contrast's one as well.

  • MICHAEL MAYER

    FABRIC 13!!!!!!!!

You NEED this record. Simply one of the finest things released this decade. Seriously.

  • These are cool as well as the ones mentioned

James Lavelle Fabriclive 1 is damn good it has ace tunes from Bushwacka! DJ Shadow, Plump DJ's, Green Velvet and Finished with Radiohead everything in the right place.

John Peel Fabriclive 7 is wicked loada just ace tunes spannign everything from ragga to happy hardcore.

Scratch Perverts Fadbriclive 22 has some nice tunes and mixing.

Stuart Peirce did a good one I can't rember which name he did it under though it will either be, Jaque Le Cont or his own...

Andrew Weatherall is just a perfect collision of minimal and electro its freakin awsome.

Rub'N'Tug are worth a listen I have another mix of theirs and its proper sweet old school deep disco/house.

Tyrant No Shoes No Cake is on fabric thats really good for tech house and tribal gubbins.

I think I heard Simian Mobile Disco are doing one soon.

    • MBV

I think Andrew Weatherall's remix of My Bloody Valentine's Soon is wonderful. I think I'll look towards his next. Thank you for your other recommendations also, they sound really exciting!

      • Yeah Weatherall

use to do a bit of producing from My Bloody Valentine and Primal Scream, peeps like that. He is a legend.

        No problems :)

        and welcome to DiS hehe

  • i would get

    the spank rock one.
    the james murphy one
    the cut copy one
and the diplo one is awesome.

  • On a minimal techno note...

Does anyone know who popped along to any of Radiohead's recent gigs know who wrote the music playing before their set? It had a lovely atmosphere. The people I was with found it nauseating though. heh.

    • I remember some one talking about that

in a radiohead thread and I do belive thy mentioned a tune or two they may well be along in a moment to tell ya...

      hopfuly

      • We can but hope...

In the mean time, I'll scan through Radiohead threads and see if anything pops up.

    • ugh

      My grammar is disgusting

    • apparently it was radiohead themselves

though i'm not sure if it was every track. maybe the last one or two before they came on.

  • i have one

but i cant remember which one it is.

    that is all.

  • also

    DJ Format Fabriclive (#?)
Propelling hip hop beats (with good some alright MC's) and it later morphs into jazzy-retro-soul-funk. One particular highlight is the track 'Changes' by Nostalgia 77.
I cannot recommend this enough as it tickles my brains!

  • Jive Bunny and the Mixmasters

are on the cards to do one I think, that should be good.

  • My fave is probably Diplo

or John Peel. But I hear good things about Marcus Intalex's if your into your Drum and Bass

    • Diplo

      Cut Copy
but Deadly Avenger is my all time fave Fabric Live CD.

      • ok

favourite is jacques lu cont and i like the ones by... slam, carl craig, lavelle, hype, john peel, rob da bank, spinbad, aim, diplo, the herbaliser, spank rock, dj yoda
ones i found meh... michael mayer (although richard davis 'bring me closer' is amazing) and ivan smagghe (check his bugged out mix instead, much better).
some of these have been on at parties, no anecdotes involving the music, sadly.

  • Villalobos!

    his fabric is amazing!!
my housemate played me a bit of MANDYs last night and it was awesome too.

  • I thought

the Ellen Allien one was really disappointing. In fact, Id say Ellen Allien is becoming increasingly disappointing in general :o(

    • Yeah, I didn't rate her Fabric mix

The one that I loved which hasn't been mentioned yet is the Robert Hood one. Thought it was ace. Plus I wanna hear the Villalobos one again, but I left it back up North...grr.
