Hercules & love affair
No age - Nouns
Aesop rock
Definitive ODB
QOTSA - Lullabies...

Au revoir simone - the bird of music
The fall - permanent years
Roots of Rap compilation
Futureheads - News & tributes

Cabaret Voltaire - Best of
Aereogramme - My heart...

So, have I bought some crackers in there people, or a real bunch of crap I'll be swapping for a Father Ted boxset tomorrow afternoon?

  • Bardo Pond

    nice

  • That No Age album is great

Kept me sane whilst trying to commute to and through London to get to a course on Tuesday.

  • News and Tributes

    was very disappointing to me.

  • that au revoir simone album is lovely

very summery, a bit twee but i quite like that.

  • are these all off play.com?

i spent 30 quid earlier on...
    why?-alopecia
    giant panda-fly school reunion
the sound of animals fighting-tiger and the duke
    faithless-greatest hits
frank turner-some brown colour ep cant remember the name
    rufus wainwright-want two
    are they good choices?

    • Why?

is worth the 30 quid alone. If any of the others are good that'll be a bonus.

      • i know :D

i was cheeky and downloaded it and fell in love.and i do like to own the physical copy so i bought it.its f'ckin brilliant!

      • No all in the Zavvi sale (barring the first 3 which I got in HMV for £20)

The Zavvi in Fulham Broadway has a fair few copies of all of the above for between 2 and 4 quid each left too. Barring QOTSA & Bardo pond, which I got the last ones of.

They also had Odelay special edition, Matthew Dear, De La Soul and Bright eyes in there too, but I had to stop somewhere...

I really must check out this why? band more. I heard 2 tracks and hated them. Maybe I was wrong...

        • Cabaret Voltaire

          their music is so good.

  • Bardo Pond are brilliant

    was listening to them yesterday

  • The

Aereogramme one's great, I like the Trans AM one as well, QOTSA's Lullabies, not as good as Songs for the Deaf but still very good!

I just can't get into No Age, bought Nouns based on the love it gets here but just it just doesn't grab me like I hoped it would.

    • Cool, seems

like I did ok then. Its hard to tell when you buy CD's on the strength of their artwork and label name.

I'm a bit concerned with No age too. Trust a lot of people who have told me its amazing, but the few tracks I'd heard hadn't grabbed me. Or the first play today. We shall see...

      • give it time

or play 'teen creeps' loud several times. It will remain in your skull for days. Infectious.

        • I'll have to

give it a few more spins, I want to like it!

So much music not enough money/time!

          • this zavvi sale is rather good

            i got...
iliketrains- elegies £4, nick cave- live seeds £4, chemical underground cd/ dvd comp £4, superpitcher- today £2, matthew dear- asa breed £4, seu jorge- cru £4, tony hancock- the blood donor/ the radio ham £2
are the following temptations any good?
pete rock/ cl smooth, kieran hebden/ steve reid, alan braxe/ fred falke

            • there are two phases to the Temptations

first phase is std motown, smokey robsinson esque business

2nd Norman Whitfield phase is AMAZING, psychedelic sould rocking jams, a la Sly Stone, Ball of Confusion, all that good stuff

so, if the cover looks trippy then andit has Ball of Confusion, buy it

if it looks like a preppy Commodores CD, then move along

  • I got a free Bardo Pond from a UK vendor

whom I purchased a copy of sunn o)) "00 void" from, I like it- should listen to it some more. The last time I saw TOOL, Trams Am was billed as support but they didn't show- how are they?

    • far better than tool for a start

    • Trans Am

seem an odd choice to support Tool, they're quite dancy, a bit like Holy Fuck.

      I love Tool btw!

  • BTW

Is your pound sign located on your "4" key? Right where my dollar sign is?

    • "3" key on most keyboards

the dollar sign is above the "4", same as yours

  • You could have done much better on the Coltrane front

None of his Prestige stuff is really 'classic'.
