Can I get you to listen to a recording I did last night?

It's way more 'pop' than I'd normally do, but that's half the fun...

It's here: http://www.myspace.com/timespacerepeat

and it's called Who Will Save Us Now?

All opinions, good or bad, greatfully received.

  • I'm

at work so can't, but would love to hear it.

  • I'm at work too

but it's audio typing today, so your music has just been soundtracking people complaining about their bank.

this makes it sound like a weird post-rock version of the killers.

it's well arranged, are you going to put a vocal on it?

    • weird post-rock Killers eh?

      I can live with that...

I'll put a vocal on it once I can afford a mic, but that could be years yet...

      • i should probably mention that

without the voices I've got wittering all over it, I think it would sound ace.

        • I quite like the idea of it...

...being accompanied by people complaining about their bank...

Any chance you could sample a bit for me?

          • sure

do you want the funny borderline racist ones, the ones who make really strange breathing noises, or just a really drawn out fucking tedious one? :)

            • Ooo I'll have some strange breathing please

and a soupcon of funny borderline racist so I can ridicule them.

        • there's something a bit arcade fire

about the piano part/rhythm too, i can hear win butler clamouring over it about something important to do with churches or a death in the family.

when it lifts at the end it sounds pretty glorious and anthemic.

          • That bloody Arcade Fire.

            :D

Well, the lyrics concern a school reunion that's missing the one guy everyone loved back in the day...

So it's kind of about death and nostalgia and stuff...

I DO so love a bit of anthemic :)

  • Well I like it

although not normally the sort of thing I'd listen to.

    • Not normally the sort of thing I'd write tbh...

what would you normally listen to, I'll write you something especially... :)

      • I'm a wee bit more of an indie pop kinda gal

Although I'm listening to the other songs now and I do likey. Keep up the good work!

  • Well,

I found it pretty fucking great, one of the only Jag's on here I've liked. Sounds like with time you could make some amazing records.

It could do with some vocals though.

    • Much appreciated :)

As mentioned above, I'll stick some vocals on there once I've got a mic...

My singing isn't great though (as evidence by the other tracks)

  • Ooh, me like.

Very much. Kinda anthemic, kinda indie, kinda rock, kinda experimental, kinda pop, kinda melodic, bit of this, bit of that put together very well! Will be interested to hear them once you've done the final vocal. Nice one.

    • I'm getting the distinct impression I should buy a mic....

      :D

      • Do it!

Your music's exciting enough already, adding a vocal can only enhance it further! Good luck dude!

        • Well... I'd listen to the vocal tracks before getting TOO excited...

I think "acquired taste" is the term....

        • I disagree

I think this would work really well with a spoken word vocal track (a bit like the space boy dream Bel and Seb song or a more optimistic Meanwhile, Back in Communist Russia) rather than singing.

          Try it.

          • I should have mentioned also that I think it rocked.

You could probably work that out though, because I referenced two of my favourite bands while talking about it. Good work.

          • Ah now this is something I've done before...

Using Chaplin's speech from The Great Dictator over a fairly bucolic bit of violin led improv...

            Could work again...

            • read the words you've written as lyrics

or get someone with an interesting accent to do it.

              • I'll find an interesting accent...

my speaking voice is the epitome of geeky middle class white boy...

                I NEED some Scottish friends...
