the best london road is in anglesey. because it clearly doesn't lead to london.
if i ever get put in charge of somewhere
i'm going to rename all the roads to numerical scheme. even though that's hideously confusing without a grid system. YEAH!
think about this sentence:
"if i ever get put in charge of somewhere"
then shudder slightly.
City Road?
I don't think I've ever travelled down a City Road :(
I've just found one in Liverpool.
Looks pretty cool.
oxford market street> manchester market street
city road cardiff is great
is AJ's still there? I used to go there about twice a week for lunch, and play AJ Lottery (there were three brothers who worked there - one was friendly, one was silent and the other was really grumpy. it was a lottery as to which one would serve you).
I concur!
IT'S GOT MILGI FFS. And loads of other nice things as well. And I'll practically be living on it come September :D
Milgi's isn't particularly great though
Ooooh a yurt! wow.
SERIOUS?
I don't care that much about the yurt (although it is nice) but Milgi is one of the best places in town, I mean have you even been to one of the jumble sales they do?
ah i've not been to milgi market no
i'm just really not fussed on the place though. Wrong side of town for me anyway.
oh, ok
well, the market is on the first sunday of every month, just in case you should want to go sometime ;)
yeh i keep meaning to
but i tend to go to Riverside market on a sunday, and then i can't be bothere going to Roath/Cathays.
where's the riverside market?
Riverside :-D
By the Side of The River.
Opposite the stadium, on the embankment,.
ahh, cool
i realise it was a bit of a stupid question.
no worries
it's more of a food market than a jumble sale though. they have one in roath on saturdays as well.
MILGI
WHAT IS MILGI
Is it something I'll have missed in my absence, or something that I've forgotten about?
it's a bar/cafe on city road
I don't know how long it's been around, to be honest. It's like a real artsy place and I just love the atmosphere and the people who work there and their smoothies and cocktails and coffees and the chili hot chocolate and they host a market once a month which is amazing.
Ah, I just looked up where it is
there was nowt there except estate agents and a furniture warehouse that I can remember. I hate it when things change and it doesn't directly benefit me.
it's SOOOO cardiff
REPRESENT
YEAH.
cardiff
tenkaichi ftw
The one in London has me on it though.
I think we know which one wins here.
obviously.
the one 154 miles away from your face.
and meeee
the bristol one is great
the amount of times i saw it filled with police...
...getting their home-time blow jobs
Sheffield's Snake Pass is pretty great.
Try driving down that at night and not shitting yourself. I think it's the most dangerous road in Europe, pretty alarming really.
On the plus side they have the 24 hour Spar that literally never shuts. Even on Christmas Day. They refurbished the whole shop once and still managed to keep the place open 24/7.
It also has that kebab shop that's actually nice!
yes yes
aladins
NO
not aladdins, I think it's called Troy. It's ace.
Aladdins: a bit wrong.
I can't remember which one Troy is. I used to go to one that did a chips-burger-drink combo for £2. £2! Can you imagine. And they'd give me extra jalapenos. -sigh-
oh, i can't wait
it's going to be such a nice change from colum road.
Are you up near Albany Road
or further south? Regardless, you should try the fish and chip shop there. The Albany Fish Bar I think. Notoriously rude service; completely magic chips.
pretty close to crwys road
kincraig street mean anything to you? it's by that church that's not a church anymore but a cafe and arts centre or something.
Ha!
I used to live on kincraig street. There's a weird community centre thing in the middle of the square there; I once snuck in there after a Gair Rhydd awards party (so I was in a suit and all) and pretended I was in metal gear solid. All stealthing about and that, doing forward rolls.
I can't remember which number it was now. 12 maybe? It was a great spot for the Uni, and the house itself was awesome.
haha, amazing!
I'll be living right on the end of it :) The house isn't GREAT but it's perfectly ok, and at least it's better than being in halls....
I think it's such a fun area
that the quality of the house won't matter too much. Albany road and Crwys road right there, real easy to get into the city centre and Uni..
Ahh I miss it.
YES
amazing chips.
there's a chip shop on crwys road where the guy tries to entice people in with a chip on a fork. waves it at passers by and people in the flats opposite!
oh man, i knew those 24hour spar dudes on first name basis back in the buffalo-gruelling-shift-days.
always wandering home delirious from lack of sleep at 7am just finished a shift-need-crumpets-and-milk-and-morning-paper-then-BED.
good times.
but sadly
they don't sell alcohol before 8 in the morning.
thats fine. i always have my bag full of staff drinks for my walk home.
:D
lucky :(
other good things about City Rd Cardiff:
A pub called The Roath Park where they have one of those Japanese hunting dogs that are illegal to keep. They just let it wander around the pub.
Lots of computer shops. If you're buying a computer then go shop to shop comparing estimates and you'll get yourself a great bargain.
i've still got a hi-fi amplifier i bought in DEALS on city road
it's still working, and the police haven't impounded it as part of their investigation or anything.
there was also a place where you could buy 24" pizzas on a buy-one-get-one free offer. win.
oh god. not from City Pizza was it?
that place is pretty vile.
not sure
we used to get them when we worked evening overtime (at NPI cardiff, which was on newport road, where the uni registry is now). they were never that bad, though i never set foot in the place...
Rocket Joe's!
Did the pizza have corners?
the only City Road I've ever been down
is in Chester, and it's pretty crap. You're welcome.
I've
just had a look on the internets and the Tut'n Shive has gone and changed it's name back! I used to love it in there. All nooks and crannies.
i don't know
i don't look at roads...
Birmingham
its long and straight and there's not a shop on it (except for one corner)
i don't understand
please elaborate
most cities have a road called 'city road'.
which is the best?
there are also lots of 'london roads', 'queen streets' and 'market streets'.
which are the best?
i don't understand
please elaborate
isnt there a city road in bristol
where all the prossies are? i guess that would be considered 'best' if you were a sex beast
That's
the one.
please explain
worst. thread. ever
no
you didn't start it.
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g240/Coolly_2006/backgrounds/handbags.jpg
but srsly, its a contender
London's is quite useful
bit smelly though
The best Oxford Street is in Church Gresley.
That sort of thing?
Please elaborate.
you've got it.
There's not really much more to elaborate on.

you sound like the smiths
City Rd Cardiff is a bit scary
there's always an 'edge' to it.
On the plus side they have the 24 hour Spar that literally never shuts. Even on Christmas Day. They refurbished the whole shop once and still managed to keep the place open 24/7.
