This summer Staines are going to have at least 4 players training with them who started last season with Hendon. I bet they win the title. This is 4 years ago all over again when AFC Wimbledon pinched the best part of a dozen players and all our staff. Grrrrr.
Anyway, you don't want to hear my woes do you? You want to know all about Steve Bruce's love for Daniel de Ridder as he signs him on a free for the 2nd time in 2 years, this time for Wigan.
Everton could bid £7million for Pablo Aimar. I'd love to see him in England and playing for a side I like.
Manchester United are looking at Colombian striker Falcao as a possible alternative to Dimitar Berbatov.
Arsenal have rejected a £24million bid from Barcelona for Adebayor.
Ronaldinho wants to move to Chelsea to link up with Scolari again.
Aston Villa look liable to choose between Paul Robinson and Robert Green to be their keeper next season.
Watford are set to sign Ian Harte from Sunderland.
Gary Megson wants Joey Barton on loan.
Paul Ince and Steve Bruce want Sweden defender Frederick Stoor who will cost in the region of £1.5million from Rosenborg.
Fulham aren't prepared to pay £5.5million for Josep Simunic
Roy Keane is ready to offer Darren Bent a bumper deal to join Sunderland.
Hull want former Man City midfielder Geovanni.
St Johnstone are likely to sign former Rotherham striker Derek Holmes.
Man City and Rangers are off to the back of beyond in their European ties. Man City off to the Faroe Isles and Rangers to Lithuania or Andorra.
QPR add to their Italian contingent with the signing of Fiorentina striker Samual di Carmine on loan.
Nick Carle has moved from Bristol City to Crystal Palace.
Roberto di Matteo is all set to take the MK Dons job.
Tranmere's Paul McLaren signs for Bradford City.
Adam Virgo returns to Brighton on a free 3 years after he moved to Celtic for £1.5million.
Lincoln sign Rob Burch and Frank Sinclair.
Russell Hoult signs permanently for Notts County after a loan spell last season.

Oh yeah..
AND
Man City are set to confirm the signing of Jo today for £18million. I have a feeling he's going to end up costing City about £3million per goal.
AND
The Chelsea and Robinho links continue to get stronger...
Conference fixtures
are out today! Woop!
Are they?
Are you going to spend today picking out those games where Lewes could nick a point?
What's the latest with the squad, I haven't read your messageboard recently.
Joe Garner
We've supposedly bid £500k for the Carlisle striker and are reputedly in talks with Andy Cole.
Forest under Nigel Doughty showing ambition? I'm in serious need of a lie down...
We have no squad!
We have four players :)
No sponsor, horrible new Errea shirts, manager on his way out for not bringing in the promised sponsors...etc etc. It'll be useful for working out how quickly we could be relegated.
I just want to see when the good weekends away will be!
They're sacking Keehan?
Hmmm
Well, rumours are he hasn't been very successful at his 'other' job of Commercial Director and we are lacking any major sponsors/shirt sponsor still.
Our main hope is that Michael Standing will sign if he doesn't get offered league football first. That says it all really.
What happened at Hendon then to drive them all to Staines?!
I would imagine
money is talking after their Cup run last season. Can't really blame them really, Staines can offer them a realistic chance of promotion this time around, I think we're going to struggle.
I seem to remember you saying that
on your stag weekend last year! And look what happened :)
I'm an eternal pessimist.
Last season's side seems to be breaking up a bit now though. We've lost some really good players and it remains to be seen what the replacements are going to be like. Still, we can at least still field 11 men. I'm still staggered by what's happened at Lewes.
The first friendly
in a couple of weeks should be very interesting and/or funny.
I'll keep an eye open
for that :)
West Ham have made their first summer signing
Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson from HK. I have him as an MSN contact.
Is he a youngster?
Yeah, 17
Already played for Iceland U-21s, which is sort of impressive in a way. I haven't seen him play, though. And I doubt I will much if at all this season.
Ronaldinho to Chelsea
Ive been away for a week and i come back to this?! Am i to assume the hilarious transfer of buck-jaw to Man City is off? please tell me there's still a chance.
I'd say there's still a chance
I can't see a top side spending shitloads on him what with him turning shit and all, so he may decide to go with the money and go the City.
I know nothing about Falcao
but I like this photo:
http://www.riverplate.com/foto/displayimage.php?pid=7754&fullsize=1
:D
wow
not a ball in sight either
amazingly
he actually scored from that
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x33qeg_33-98m-falcao-river-plate_sport
Presumably, Falcao means falcon in Spanish?
no
it actually translates as "foul calously", though it loses something in the translation.
But doesn't it look like he's swooping and carrying the defender away?
Doesn't it really?
Please say it's pronouned Fal-kay-oh
He could be my new favourite player.
Who is this Jo guy? And why the fuck is he worth 18mil?
because
he plays in Russia, and much like every other resource, the Russian market for footballers is very heavily protected by the government, one can only assume.
He's 21 and Brazillian
He's scored a shedload of goals for CSKA Moscow in the Russian League. He's not going to be worth £18million. Although he might be in which case I'll have gravy on my humble pie.
I think the weight of expectation will weigh him down
Had he cost £5-7m, he would have been granted time to settle in to a very new league and any success would be enjoyed. For £18m, the 'f' word will be popping up by the end of August if he still hasn't scored, such is the nature of idiot fans, and he'll be given no time at all. I can't imagine anyone being able to work in those conditions never having played in a major league.
Weight and weigh?
Horrible sentence structure. Sorry.
I agree
I think the fee could prove a huge burden..
is Bent already on £90k a week?
Although if i was him, the chance to score 20 goals by playing regularly for an up and coming team would excite me. But then i'd be happy with £90k over 5 years...
9 signings for Derby so far, if anyone can shed light on the talents of Liam Dickinson, Paul Green and Paul Connolly i'd be very grateful...
I know
Dickinson did well for Stockport last season, he's a tall striker with good feet. I think the reputed £750k that I saw this morning is a bit of a gamble though.
aye, it is indeed
particularly when we seem reluctant to spend elsewhere. although big deals take longer generally i suppose. i'm very pleased with the capture of albrechtsen.
we should have an almost Jewell XI by August, apart from Mears, but then he is the only player to have come out with any dignity from last season.
Sadly, it appears Hull are having similar problems to us last season. I'd hope their players have more bottle though and can scrape a few wins.
I thought Albrechtsen was a good signing
Dickinson was one of the best forwards I saw all year at league two last year...
Ran posh ragged in the game towards the end of the season. Big, tall and strong. Slightly disappointed we didn't go in for him, actually. Especially for 250k.
Not just saying it because
of the fact its "them" but I honestly think you're in for a tough season in the Championship.
Dickinson - good League 2 player but unproven.
Green - good workmanlike League 1 player but unproven.
Davies - didn't really catch my eye for Tranmere in either game against Forest last year unlike Chris Shuker who ran the show both times.
Ellington - done nothing since his Wigan days.
Stewart - steady Championship player.
Commons - overrated, overweight, and overpaid. You're welcome to him!
I think Ellington
could be a good signing. I was reading the Watford Observer this week where he said he couldn't wait to get away from Watford after last season. Their style of play didn't suit him at all and he didn't settle. I think a fresh start will do him good.
he lookds pretty trim in the training photos
as does Commons actually... obviously Greggs isn't on the way to Moor Farm.
i am optimistic that the new players will at the very least form a good team. we may not get promoted, but i reckon the top half is a given.
i'd forgotten about Davies actually, he was injured most of last season though wasn't he Dom?
I won't snipe about Forest, as I imagine you know you'll also struggle with your current squad. The Championship is going to be very tight this season.
We'll be happy just to stay up
which I think we will do with the likes of Barnsley, Southampton, Blackpool and Swansea (minus their two best players).
What four players Mr Turnstile?
Davis Haule
Rob Ursell, Craig Vargas and Ben Hudell.
You've got a very good player in Belal thingmyjig.
Rob Ursell had joined you?
Davis Haule always looked very dangerous, although on my limited viewings barn door and banjo spring to mind. I don't remember much of Belal... apart from that goal
That goal, yes...
Davis went on a mass scoring spree at the end of the season, got about 6 in 4 to keep our play off hopes alive. He does lack conviction in front of goal but shows some really nice touches.
Ursell signed for us at the start of the season, buggered his knee again, got semi fit and then went to Carshalton. Ran the game when they spanked us 5-0 at our place. You could tell he had class.
Belal on his day can beat a defence on his own time and time again. He gave Steve Butler a torrid time season before last at our place when we won 3-1. He has a tendency to blow a bit hot and cold though.
Rob only looks
able to last about 60 minutes though still - I dunno if he's got fitter in the last few months, but unless he has then he'll be an impact player wherever he goes.
Completely agree with ht27 on Belal and Davis.
I need to be taken to a hendon game in September please.
I'm leaving Moss Lane too far away to attend many home games, so I will need my non league fix.
You'll be more than welcome
:)
do I have to shout in a cockney voice
"FACK OFF REF YOUR AVIN A LARRRRF!"
Yes, absolutely
and to call the opposition keeper 'fatty!'
Christ....
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/article1367289.ece
You must be elated.
:D
Couple of very good signings
West Brom sign Zuiverloon from Heerenveen and Newcastle sign Gutierrez from Mallorca.
ooooh
I've heard a lot of good things about Gutierrez. Mallorca did really well this didn't they? With Guiza and all that....
Aimar would be a great buy for someone like Everton.
Not what he was but still a brilliant player. I see Newcastle have signed a winger this morning from Mallorca. He's got flop written all over him. Re: Jo, the fee's only £7m. I think the other £12m's dependent on appearences and club position, meaning if he is shit for a couple of years it'd more than likely end up £10m max.
This will cheer you all up
QPR's new shirt, oh dear etc.......
http://www.clubfanzine.com/QPR/v2.showNews.php?id=11668
I can't look at it
if it's got the new badge on...
It has and to be honest
the shirt contains no real surprises, blue and white hoops etc. But THAT badge just doesn't sit right on the shirt somehow.
In summary
it looks like a horse racing jockey's version of a QPR shirt.
i think russel hoult maybe one of my favourite keepers ever
he has had a prolific career.
One of the few hangovers
from my 'using Ls in everything' phase is referring to hot days as 'Russell'.
