Do what I do, go to the bank, take out £300 in tenners, and just spend one note a day. Let the change spill over to the next day, so Friday nights can be fun. Make a list of al you definite expenses, and pay them with your card, but all other purchases come from that one tenner a day. If you want to buy a CD, it means you gotta bring your lunch, not have a pint after work.
Its worked a treat for me, I even ahve a bit fo money saved, and I'm also eating into my credit card debt. Hurrah, for my prudence.
A pretty extreme way to have to manage your finances, but fuck it, if it works, and if your bank card is a siren calling you onto the rocks of ruin, then why not do it? £10 is a pretty generous daily allowance...
I do have some small backups. I've got a few records that i can put on ebay, perhaps get a couple of hundred quid. Then my shrapnel collection's pretty healthy, a trip to Sainsburys with it in a couple of shoeboxes might be on the cards. After that i literally have no cash or anything really saleable. If i don't find a new job in the next fortnight i'm royally fooked.
they're not really worth it.
limit yourself to say, one or two nights out a month? and limit yourself to £40.
NEVER LEND ANYONE MONEY EVER
also, when out and about, buy croissants from supermarkets for lunch. It costs less than a pound and is also pretty filling. yay.
Damn it, I posted too early.
Basically I need tips. Help!
download music and films!
take your own popcorn to the cinema, or dont got to the cinema.
packed lunches
fare dodging
hip flaskism
I'd like to avoid downloading music and films if possible.
I love my DVDs/CDs. (I know, how prehistoric.. I should really get with the times and at least move onto records.)
I work in the cinema, so popcorn prices aren't a problem.
I already fare dodge at any opportunity.
But the packed lunch is a good idea. I spend too much on food during breaks at work/days out/whatever.
eat sandwiches
Get friends to visit you rather than going out to see them.
read a lot of books.
Leave your cards at home.........
especially if you're going drinking.
Cards?
i assume
he means debit and credit cards
Oh!
That's a brilliant idea for saving money, but I'd feel all vulnerable without them..
it'd be so much better if he meant playing cards.
I thought this at first.
And even entertained the possibility he meant I'd be less likely to gamble without my cards.
Ditto.
I got £15 till the end of the month.
I have to pay £300 within a week to secure my place at the halls next year.
I'm going to have to increase my overdraft to make this possible. I'll also be quitting my job, so no more pay to make it up.
I'm possibly going to have a massive clear out and sell all my stuff to get by. Anyone want a guitar?
what kind of guitar?
i'm am also interested in said guitar
i am too
(and i live in your city
WELL CONVENIENT)
It's a fender squire strat.
Metalic red if that matters.
I've barely used it since I got it a couple of years ago. It's literally been played about three times. I feel sorry for it.
It needs a new home and I need the cash.
i'm out
(my dragons den impression).
i don't really need a new one actually.
good luck but!
I don't believe you
Till the end of the month?! Today is the 1st of the month! You are fucked!
...

oh yeah...
I've made about £400 selling anything on ebay, over 100 sales, but its all added up.
^ this is actually a good way to make money.
literally put anything you don't want on there, people will buy anything. I've sold allsorts, lots of it absolute junk i'd have binned.
This is a good idea.
I may try this. I don't know if I have the willpower for it though.
Uber-sensible
