wasnt the best time ive seen them in the past but not the worst either,oh and that cricket ground is HUGE haha

  • it's pretty massive!

i felt it was all OKAY, nothing too amazing.

    • yea nothin special

ive seen them so much better in the past, still was an ok gig, id have preferred it indoors though

  • BUT...

the gloaming and videotape were stunning.

and all that glitch/ minimal they were bashing out before they came on was IMMENSE! if anyone has that setlist, lemme know ;-)

    • thats just the noise thom yorke makes when exhaling...

  • Enjoyed it

First time I'd seen them, was very good, but made me wish I'd made the effort to see them at a smaller venue years ago!

Not too many knobheads around me luckily, apart from one that insisted on facing the other way with his arms in the air, why? Thankfully he was far enough away to be not too irritating.

Didn't rate MGMT, but I liked Bat for Lashes, would have liked to have seen/heard her better, but clearly everyone around me at that time had no interest and were nattering at the top of their voices for her entire set! Including one silly bint saying 'where are we, Manchester?' and 'when are Razorlight on?' Oh dear!

    • haha

yeah, don't much care for MGMT but i thought bat for lashes was excellent. her new stuff sounds incredible too. can't wait for that.

as for irritating people at gigs, i had the worlds tallest man stood in front of me at one point, who actually said to his girlfriend "nah, i'm ok with this spot" when we stood right in my face.
      cheers for that mate.
he turned up later on too, just when i thought i'd lost him...

  • First time seeing them too.

It was pretty good, not absolutely amazing like I thought it would be. The 3rd encore threw me off, I crowd surfed out of where I was after Idioteque to save getting crushed in the people going out, so missed out on the speactacle of 'Lucky'.

Plus I managed to get a cigarette burn to the face...haha.

  • It was good

Not amazing though, and I think the venue/crowd was partly responsible. Ended up stood near two drunk knob heads who got in an argument with some girl in crutches.

Karma Police was amazing, however, with everyone singing after Radiohead had gone off. Pretty rad.

    • yeah

there did seem to be an abundance of total knobheads. Some were drunk and for some odd reason hitting my mate on the head.... Maybe i was just too lame and sober to find their clear hilarity amusing.

  • Was brilliant

Perfect set list, good crowd generally and 3 encores! Lucky was the perfect song to end on

Thought Bat For Lashes were pretty good, but MGMT were crap. Couldnt believe they finished their set by playing a backing track, sending 4 band members off stage and getting the singer to do karaoke to Kids, pretty embarrassing tbh.

  • I thought it was awesome

but can agree there were some fucked up people there. Some guys a couple of rows in front were for the whole duration constantly on the verge of breaking into a fight with one guy trying to help things by slapping his 'mates', it was pretty hilarious but I just had to get away, and did so during Bodysnatchers.

The set was fantastic and I was pretty gutted to have missed Bat For Lashes, though ideally a more intimate setting would suit their music.

Getting out the venue was an arsehole and the Metrolink we were on had to stop halfway due to another tram derailing! Crazy Scenes...

  • thought they were excellent

    last nite

they suddenly seem as if they're more comfortable with their status, and Johnny Greenwood was all over the stage...normally he seems fairly static in his position on the right of the stage.

    Great gig

Anyone know the number of people there?...must have been 40,000+

  • 3 Encores?

What a bunch of shit, stadium rock dickheads.

  • Apparently touts were offering to sell tickets for silly money

    £25 for 4?!

My mate had a spare and couldn't get £5 for it...was it not sold out at all then?

  • It was undoubtedly

the worst crowd I have ever been in. Most people didn't even seem to know the 'hits'. I do wonder what is the point in spending £40 to see a band you don't even like and are not going to have the decency to listen to.

Summed up nicely by the two fat, bald 50 year olds next to me:

Bloke 1: "They're alright if you actually listen to them"

Bloke 2: "Nah mate. I came here with an open mind but I've been very disappointed. I've only known one song. That was pretty good though".

    People = shit

    • No

Radiohead = greedy bastards. If they want to put on these "day out" gigs, then it's entirely their own fault if that kind of crowd turns up. These shows are the kind of thing that anyone and everyone goes to. They need to play smaller venues if they want to play to a crowd that's more into them. Greedy greedy hypocritical bastards. What do they reckon the carbon footprint of all the people who turned up to watch them was? They need hanging.

      • Hanging?

        Bit harsh, non?

Dread to hear what you think should happen to The Tings Tings, Editors, Fratellis et al.

        • Call me an optimist...

but I thought it was fantastic. Crowd near us were all well into all of it, even the Kid A/Amnesiac stuff, there was mimimal nob head activity, set list was perfect, band faultless. Good times.

          Johnny Greenwood is heroic.

          • ^^

All depended on the people around you. Everyone around me was fantastic, apart from one drunk guy but a few (fairly forceful) elbows put him right.

The band and setlist were faultless, it made one of my favourite gigs.

MGMT weren't very popular with most people but I thoroughly enjoyed them. As far as I know the band can't actually play Kids, and it being their best song it'd be a shame to leave it out. They do the best they can to it, + the guitarist soloing over the top was ridiculous, hilarious and most importantly great fun.

Getting home was a nightmare though. The ground isn't well equipped enough to cope with so many people, and the tram derailing was a pain. I arrived home 5 hours after the gig finished.. Definately worth it though, and I don't think many gigs are worth that

  • I enjoyed it

It was the first time that I'd seen them and was pretty much what I was expecting. I definetly got my value for money.

We got there just after first band was on. Who was that, MGMT or something?

Anyway, I'd never heard anything by Bat For Lashes before and I thoroughly enjoyed her set. I was lucky enough to able to hear it properly as people near me were chatting quietly.

It was the first time I'd been to a gig in ages where I wasn't stuck behind some guy who's about 6'5".

The guy next to me was snorting coke from his hand and seemed to be having a good time. And wasn't an arse.

The only knob I encountered was right at the end on the way out who was walking backwards through the crowd and ended up going straight into me. He stopped when me and my 2 mates gave him swift elbows to the bottom of his back.

So yes, my first Radiohead gig = :D

    • I was there

and thought it was amazing. Best gig of my life.

  • i was stood next to this kid and his dad

his dad was really cool, he looked like dustin hoffman and was loving the minimal techno.

first time seeing radiohead, i thought it was pretty good, apart from i thought bat for lashes was exceedingly dull and watching her made my back hurt.

  • It was alright

Agood mix of tunes, and some great make overs but did anyone else think it got a bit' ooh, look at us! Aren't we clever!' at times?

    • I really

enjoyed it, perfect weather, nice mix of songs and I thought the sound was ace.
