I've never bothered to watch there coverage that much on sky, do they split it into stage by stage on the interactive bit, or is it just re-runs of the enemy or the feeling from the night before and other crap like that?

both

usually split for bigger acts and headliners and endless reruns the rest of the day

cool

Thanks, I think I'll just really really hope they decide to show some battles as they're fairly high up (even though its on one of the smaller stages)

I think

they'll probably put a lot of stuff on the website this year. iplayer and all that

BBC3

seem to be dedicating their time to showing entire sets rather than odd hihglights.

Fully expect

Jo Wiley sat crossed leeged and bare footed on a hay bale advising us that The Hoosiers were "sublime".

Can I just put a fiver

on Bowman saying Editors were her favourite band of the festival... even if they're not playing?

Will see call them

Edithors?

Zane Lowe's the new John Peel

Didn't you know?

The new

Whoever it is that invented 'answering a question that somebody else has been asked, and taking 10 minutes to fucking well do it too'

:)

haha!

The coverage this year

is all Radio 1 DJs fellating themselves, while pausing momentarily to catch their breath and annouce their love for mud, the Glastonbury vibe, and some shit middle class major label band.

Then back to the fellatio.

...and occasionally

looking at the camera, cock in mouth, winking and saying a muffled "i think i've just had a Glastonbury moment"

^ for the record i consider this ^

to be the funniest thing I have ever posted. And yes, I know its wrong to laugh at your own jokes.

this made me laugh

enjoy your moment of glory haha!

....

big surprise?

It's horses for courses

You do often get some interesting choices of bands - I remember watching Tokyo Police Club's set on interactive last year, and Bat For Lashes - but on Saturday and Sunday they seem to allocate one screen to showing a band from the previous day's main stage.

They did show

Hold Steady too last year and you could see me and everything.

People slated this too much last year...

I thought it was actually pretty good. Showed a good mix of all types of music bands, with an obvious slant on the most popular acts, but surely that is to be expected from the BBC? I'll be tuning in again this year.

User-generated content

maybe the best place to watch coverage would be on user-generated sites like YouTube - there was quite a bit of content on there last year, and with more and more people having decent vid cams on their mobiles, we might see more this year. anyone know any specialist websites where festival goers upload their clips?

expect Phil Jupitus

to enthuse wildly about some reggae band on the jazz/world stage before waddling onstage to sing along with some ska/two-tone band who have managed to get themselves surprisingly high on the other stage line up

I remeber seeing

Beirut's set last year, the coverage is good on the BBC minus the fuckin cunt that is the Jo Whiley. What-A-Prick.

Sorry to be another drag...

But they're all kind fuckwits arent they. The backstage area is the WORST fucking part of the whole festival. Too many coke heads and too many fucking shite record label smoochie cunts!

I remember when BBC wouldn't do coverage of The Other Stage and prefered the Main Stage which meant every fucker got to watch Skunk Anansie "tear it up" rock style ( yeah right ). While Mogwai blew eveyone a new arsehole headlinging the Other Stage by opening up with a 25 minute version of Fear Satan, then finishing all the audience off with a 30 min banging version of Like Herod, before going into a rant about killing the queen and taking ecstasy. Glory Days.

BBC Coverage - Prepare for Kate Nash repeats CONSTANTLY.
Hopefully Jay Z will show those fuckers what its all about.
Big Pimpin.

You'll

fucking hate her by the end of the weekend.
x

Hah

Kate Nash moment now!

they're just playing

table football at the moment..

Fucking hell,

that looks like a big crowd for the Jazzworld stage.

Lupe Fiasco and Candi Staton

were both great great acts, i would prefer a live feed from the Jazzworld to take up one channel, a feed of the Other stage to take up another, one from the Pyramid, one from the Peel then one around different stages.
Rather than the current Feeling/Hoosiers/KT Tunstall/Young Knives repeats

Last Year...

I remember they put up loads of videos on their website, but the site was horribly designed and a bitch to navigate.

This year, the site seems to be quick well designed, but they aren't putting any videos up, damn it.

is anyone watching this on BBC3 now?

horribly awkward interview between edith bowman and the ting tings taking place right now. why is he wearing sunglasses when its a) evening and b) miserable weather!? grrr

Eww...

close up the girl from The Ting Tings is really rather unattractive.

^ this

I noticed that aswell.

are they showing the same Ting Tings song

on two different channels?

fucks sake, surely there's been more music than this today

What's wrong with

wee Scot's rocker KT Tunstall?
You could watch her too!

i only have

two channels of glasto and one of tennis

my telly mustn't be fancy enough

Fuck me

why are they showing such shit bands? Godamn Fratellis on now and, no lie, they're DOING A DRUM SOLO. Already had to put up with Ting Tings, Editors, The Feeling....about only half decent thing was one song by Foals. I wish we could have a whole show dedicated to the smaller stages. Much more interesting.

is it just me or is bbc coverage

less high profile this year? didnt they have a primetime bbc1 or 2 show last year every night?

John Peel

must be spinning in his grave with Reverend & the Makers appearing on his stage

I think there should be a show dedicated to the smaller/underground acts even if it's late night on BBC 3/4. Battles are quite obviously going to be the best band there but the BBC will probably show 2 minutes of 'Atlas' (if that) then go back to talking about some of the "characters" they've met by the Avalon stage

beth ditto - "let's here it for Jay-Z"

camera zoomed straight into the first black man it could find in the crowd

hmmm

what

the hell is this cover of smells like teen spirit!? It's like my ears have been flushed down a particularly nasty public toilet

are they showing the Editors set AGAIN

come aawwwwwn! :(

They're just repeating the same bloody bands

Fratellis again......aaaargh. And Editorzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Then I remembered the red button, but there's little salvation there either. But then again, that's what you get for being in on a Friday night I guess, though I can't help but think it's all a little unfair on people who don't have a life.......

I'm back to the Ting Tings

but will be watching Sylvia's demise in a few minutes...

The

little rallying call for hip-hop from Lupe Fiasco was pretty cool, although BBC had obviously edited together what they showed from his set - one song he had a jacket, next he didn't! C'mon.

I've given up watching now - its a choice of The Fratellis and The Gossip and I'd rather choose this.

I am sure

I watched Fratellis and Estelle about a hour ago. Tonnes of bands and the BBC repeats a handful, twats.

i think i've only seen 5 or 6 bands all night

but mostly editors and ting tings on endless repeat

KT was on earlier she was good but these repeats, it's not like it's even different songs from their sets, it's the same songs every time

FFS

Fucking Fratellis again?

if that's all the've got

I'd rather they just left me with Lauren and the bloke who used to play in Skrewdriver chatting.

bbc2

have got a "heart moving" mini-documentary on how glastonbury recovered from last year's festival. aww

Probably with the oodles of cash they make?

I was amazed how busy the tent was for the Tings Tings, was it just to escape the rain?

I've got bored of the coverage, and it's only Friday...same fucking bands over and over...

radio

coverage has been very dull so far (however, I will check out Rob Da Bank's highlights show), but I'm wondering about how much of the content will appear online (on iPlayer or bbc.co.uk/glastonbury)?

im getting pretty envious

watching this Kings Of Leon set, mainly because I would have been seeing them at oxegen but now can't afford to go. grrr.

Unfortunately

these are the only stages the BBC are covering.
They seem to be filming the majority of later acts on said stages.
I'm not loving the coverage however the bands featured may not be your cup of tea but surely it's better than just the highlights on BBC2?

I'm watchin BBC2 now

and well its boring. Kings of Leon are making me wish Jonathon Ross hadn't just finished its that dull.

I tryed watchin some earlyer on BBC3 but they kept playin crap like fritellies and editors, the only saving grace was a little bit of lupe Fisaco and he wasnt all that.

KoL are about the best it's been

other than we are scientists who had two or three songs earlier and KT ... jimmy cliffe is on bbc4 probably best to abandon the others and stick with him

This KoL song is quite nice

Milk, I think it's called, but the rest of the coverage has been dull. BBC4 are showing Jimmy Cliff, but I wish they'd dedicate some time to the more non-radio friendly bands.

the crowd

just aren't moving to KoL, this infuriates me for some reason

they're still recovering from being

literally bored stiff during the fratellis

Not up to your standards?

I think KoL are brilliant, after watching the coverage I now really really want to see them live. And well it's hard to tell due to the darkness On Call at least was a massive singalong.

annoys me how they interrupted the set for the bad sound of Jimmy Cliff, no offence but he is a bit past his prime

I'm not a fan of KoL

I saw them live once at Leeds and they were just boring and bad. I have one of their albums but I kinda wish I hadn't hehe.

was that 05?

I thought they were boring then as well, I'd just come from the arcade fire though so was still picking my jaw up off the ground. I really love their last album and would love to see them now they've got it in their repotoire

Never been

any kind of KOL fan but have to admit they sounded pretty darn good.

I think it was 05 yeah

they played before Foo Fighters who I didnt like either hehe

I havent really listened to them since then so I wouldnt know about the new stuff. Not realy my kinda thing I guess.

i was at The Tears

when the Foo Fighters were on. Me and about 50 other people..

Oh Lord

On Sky now, there's 2 red button channels showing The Enemy. What is the fucking point of showing the same fucking set on two channels?!

They need to hurry up

and show some decent highlights

^this x1000000

Can't wait to see them at T in the Park.

Hello

What channel are they on?

They've finished now, sadly :(

But BBC2, in case they come back on. I wish they just showed their whole set.

I personally thought the Kings

put in a stellar performance, there was an air of Glastonbury magic. From my seat anyway.

The crowd wasn't physically that reactive but the overwhelming singalongs for 'Milk', 'Fans' and 'Charmer' really surprised me and surely prove that they were after all big enough to step up?

What a surprise

Last night's coverage was mostly wall-to-wall Editors.

and

Kate Nash opening the festival
The festival was opened by Kate Nash
This is how the festival was opened, by Kate Nash...
Did you see how brilliant Kate Nash was when she opened the festival?
etc...

i am enjoying

the fact i'm only just watching any coverage now this morning, on the red button iPlayer thing, and being able to fast forward through the Fratellis set. Technology is ace.

on the internet

there are now available performances from MGMT, Editors, Candi Staton, The Ting Tings & many more.
check out: http://www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury/2008/videos/

All the interactive

channels are showing tennis.

Seen as though everyone pays for the BBC (well, not me being a kid..) they should try and cater for everyone too?

why is anyone suprised by this?

getting worked up about them ignoring a band that is ignored largely anyway is KERAZY

Where's the red button on the iplayer?

...or isnt there one?

there isnt one...

its an interactive service... why on earth would it need a red button?

.

no i mean u can't see all the 'red button' footage if u have no tv. :(

franz new song is here in case anyone wants it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skNwIY0hox8

Oh lord.

Did anyone see the coverage of Estelle?

She was fucking awful and her patter was terrible.

Radio 5 at work this morning

A mildy irritated Shakin Stevens
The Young Knives playing a Shakin Stevens song
The Radio 5 presenters taking the piss out of Shakin Stevens
A roving reporter telling us that Shakin Stevens is late starting
The Radio 5 presenters not knowing what Glastonbury Tor is
Seasick Steve told he looks like the granddad from Dukes Of Hazzard

i just want them to show the national

and i'll be fine with anything else they put up.

p.s. edith bowman LOVES EDITHORZZZ. who knew?
