Reverend and the Makers, with a bit of Kasabian. That was my initial reaction when I heard the new album for the first time this morning anyway. The first track particularly sounds very similar to that Reverend and the Makers single Danny The Champion of the World I think it was called.
I don’t think I like it, apart from the intro to Get Through It, which sounds like the Knight Rider theme tune.

Neither of these bands
could ever write anything as good as Walls Get Smaller or Take the Long Road and Walk It.
The rest I'll give you.
Do you
own the first album/early EP's?
Not the EP's
but have the album with Welcome to the North on it. Haven't listened to it for a few years though.
I used to love the first album
Not sure if I'd like it as much now. I'm a bit scared to play it again for fear of really hating it and destroying the happy memories I have of a band I used to really enjoy.
That'll be the second album then eh?
NO
no no no no no.
NO
surely
reverend and kasabian would be the ones after sounding like the music?
Think your missing
That The Music have been going for about 10 years...
Who came first
I was specifically referring to the new The Music album which has just come out and is therefore after Reverend & The Makers and Kasabian, but if I was talking about their earlier stuff then yes I take your point. I need to go back and listen to the early stuff to comment on that.
the first few EP's are immense
you might aswell try to fuck me in particular was a great one, the new album is ok but they just sound too much like themselves, that I couldnt help feeling a bit of 'heard it all before' type attitude towards it, The Delays have the same problem I think.
However 'Fire' and 'The left side are cracking tunes'
