Gig I have ever been too. Simply amazing.

  • It was absolutely amazing.

I noticed a lot of people with camcorders. I hope some of it ends up on YouTube.

    • aye

there were several cameras upstairs too, some of them looked "official" so maybe they recorded the show for a dvd or something.

what amazed me about the show was how incredibly polished they were about everything. it was just perfect.

      • <3

        I agree. It was perfect.

      • They were official

One of the camera guys upstairs implied the footage was intended to be used as bundled/fee material rather than a full blown dvd.

They are releasing the new album in an expanded package later this year, wouldn't be surprised if some of it ends up on there.

        Great gig, great venue.

  • god i would have loved to see them again.

    this sounds amazing.

    did you catch olafur?

    • heh

it wasn't olafur. it was Helgi Jonsson.

incredible. Definite 'once in a lifetime' feeling. The venue was absolutely fantastic and performance was utterly magical from start to finish.

        • aye

that second burst of confetti at the end of gobbledigook (sp?) was just incredible. there was a genuine feeling of joy around the whole venue.

          • oh shut up

            :(

            • well

if its any consolation - the seats were designed for really tiny people... i was in pain by the end of it and you're quite a bit taller than me.

              • Not a problem

If you're standing 10-15ft from the stage with a direct, unobstructed, head on view of Jonsi :D
                My god, it was perfect.

He looked so pretty. So so stylish too.

          • There was.

I was alreedy lost by the first confetti burst though.

      • Yes.

Really sweet kid. I say kid but he's probably in his late 20s?
        Very powerful voice indeed.
I picked up his EP. He looked so grateful to get such a warm response from the crowd.

He plays trumped for Sigur Ros in case anyone didn't catch that bit.

      • heh

sorry, think i read he was supporting on here :)

        will check out the helgi.

  • remind me why i didn't go to this?

oh yeah it was about £40. if only i had known... :(

  • Not quite the best gig of the year for me

but pretty fucking close. The run of Olsen Olsen, Hafssol (which I've never seen live before, and desperately wanted them to play), Gobbidigook and Untitled 8 was basically the best thing EVER.

  • Bollocks

Didn't go on the grounds that I couldn't justify the expense with Radiohead tonight an' all.

    Should've bitten the bullet.

    TITS!

  • Decent write-up & set list here

    http://ovrdrv.wordpress.com/2008/06/25/sigur-ros-westminster-methodist-central-hall-review/

The only thing I'd disagree with is the crowd's reactions to the new material. From where I was standing, they went nuts for it - and the look of glee on Jonsi's face when it became apparent that they weren't going to fail was pretty special.

    • I stand corrected

As the author of the review you've linked to, I'd like to offer my thoughts on your experiences of the reaction to the new songs:
I agree that the standing part of the crowd were dead keen on the new stuff, and so were the seated elements. I was merely commenting on the difference in reaction between these and the classics. I think it's inevitable that it will take a bit of time yet before they become ingrained in the mind, but they're definitely cracking songs.
      Cheers.

    • Was it different at the front?

I was near the back and everyone i could see had their arms folded and were swaying, not that i didn't do the same/wish i wasn't.

      • Well.

I for one was hypnotised, so it was natural to dance. I guess you feel less of a connection the further away you are.

        • Oh :(

maybe i should have just ignored my discomfort of lonesome waiting and charged to the front.
I wish i had a better view of that amazing marching brass band.

  • amazing night

only my second time seeing them, and I stood there with my spine tingling for most of the evening

    roll on Werchter!

  • awesome

    awesome show! yeah.

  • Flicker album:

  • IM TRYING TO FIND KEITH!

I met someone last night in the queue called keith, he was a librarian and really awesome.
me and my boyf are really trying to remember his dis name and wondered if anyone knew him!

i think he said he came from chissick. maybe! argh.

    also;
    the gig was lovely.
    i wish i caught the bow. :-(

  • wooooow!

they were magnificent! one of the best moments was when they had a 15 seconds silence during one song and the crowd was as still as a mouse. wow!!!!!!
