My first Glasto, any tips

this will be my first ever Glastonbury. Any tips about what to take that and what to do? Someone else is taking the tent so all I'm really resposible for is my own personal stuff.
Been making a list for weeks but I'll bet there's something I'll miss.

  • try and get a hotel

    caravan or winibago
    failing that
    wet whipes

  • Wellies always a good idea.

As is a silver space blanket. Seriously. They weigh nothing but will keep you so warm at night...

  • Wet wipes

    loo roll
    toothbrush/toothpaste
    Wellies
Loads of socks (you can never have too many
    Black bag (for wet clothes)
    Sleeping bag/Rollmat
    Suncream
Waterproof top (poncho would also do)

    • this ^

      and a torch

    • ^^^I always take really good paracetemol like...

solpadeine max for those troublesome mornings.
Also the antibacterial handcream (the stuff that doesn't require water)

There is so much to do and see, so I would suggest just going with the flow. Walk about and just see what happens and where it takes you. Don't make too many plans as you can never stick with them.
Go and see things you would never normally go and see.

  • If you're driving

leave as early as you can on Monday morning, even after the bands on Sunday if you can. Getting out of there is a living hell.

    • so this

leave before sunday night headliner. we got back to cambridge in about 3 hours. beautiful.

  • Head torch

    thermal long sleeved tops
    A hat
Thermorest/air bed as it gets so cold at night
    Painkillers
    Wind-up phone charger
Bag that goes over your body and is waterproof

  • nirvana smiley tshirt

    doc martins
hooded sweatshirt/plaid shirt tied around waist
    head for banging

oh its not 1996 anymore :-(

    • this

      is what i have packed

      • Ta very much

Somethings up there I hadn't thought about. Thanks.
Is there much thieving on the site? Any valuables I take will be on me at all times but I'm thinking about stuff I might not need. Like wellies or waterproofs, wouldn't need them unless in rains and I don't want to carry them around with me if it's sunny.

  • Bring some Nitrous Oxide canisters and a despenser

sell Noz baloons, make a killing on the black market

    • Did you see that bloke on Current TV last night.

Clears a grand a day doing it and takes 30-40 hits a day.

      • I did it at Reading last year

it paid for my whole weekend, I spent £120 on supplies and cleared £300 which went on the weekend.

  • Don't take bog roll or jonnies.

They give them away for free.

    • don't assume they won't run out of bog roll when you need it the most.

      take some.

  • heckle Jay-Z with

WRIGHTYLEW DOESN'T OBJECT TO YOU BEING HERE BUT THINKS YOU SHOULD BE ON THE OTHER STAGE

    • :d

Its probably a good thing to be fair. It'll mean me wandering around like a magic puppy instead of doing what the other million people are doing.

      • The wandery bits

are my favourite of all; sounds so cliched, but finding little pockets of fun down little glades and that.

The music might as well be Chas'n Dave - 24/7 - as far as I'm concerned.

  • YOU WILL NEVER HAVE ENOUGH LOO ROLL

I guarantee that however much you take, it will not be enough. Also, don't rely on the free loo roll they hand out. I dashed down pennard hill with the shits one morning only to find they didn't have any of the free loo roll left. NOT GOOD.

Take a head torch. It will be a godsend. Take a SHITLOAD of binbags. they come in handy for so many things. Take a pair of 'monday clothes'. Take loads and loads of cash - the queues for the on-site cashpoints can get pretty hairy (best time to go is middle of the night).

Hmm, what else? EAR PLUGS. EAR PLUGS. OMG EARPLUGS. If you want to sleep, ever. take them.

    • Yes....

Lots there I need to consider. Feel like a veteran already with all this advice.

      • oh, and another one.

don't camp near any of the stages. or more accurately, don't camp anywhere that could be part of someone's route to somewhere else. less chance of getting your tent gashed up this way.

and don't camp at the bottom of a hill. and go to nutter's cafe near the jazz stage for your morning cuppa. make sure to watch sunrise from the stone circle at least once. take blankets. i could go on...
