should i sell my victoria park radiohead ticket?

reasons:

looking at atease, it looks like most people are planning to get there about 10am, so would have to do similar to be anywhere near the front, or else barge through the crowd, but no-one likes a barger.

one support, bat for lashes, who is ok, but seen her before. hugely disappointing in the support stakes, especially considering the price.

radiohead on about 8.00 at earliest, meaning, even arriving for gates open at 4 and accepting a place a little further back than is necessarily excting, 4 hours of standing around victoria park waiting (8-9 if you get there early, and i'm going on my own - friends and i had a deal to get tickets but everyone else dropped out when they realised it'd be close to £60 a head).

taking the afternoon off work to do this means losing holiday, of which i already have precious little (and need to take 10 days for our edinburgh festival gig, which i probably don't have left), or else rock up about 6.30 and have no chance of a good spot.

can't take any drinks in, so the only option is to buy the inevitably overpriced stuff they'll sell in there, and this means losing place in the crowd.

i really really love radiohead, but this really seems a bit of a faff for a potentially quite underwhelming gig experience (i'm sure the band will be ace, but i mean everything else). and, given the potential demand for tickets, i do sort of have pound signs in my eyes (don't judge me, i'm hard up).

what do you reckon? don't PM me asking to buy it, just seeking advice for now.

are they

going to have one of those daft crowd barriers or some sort of golden circle do you think?

a 'D Barrier'

i reckon they may well, they had one at south park. 'T Barriers' FTW (if they must have something like that.

shame

you guys didn't get grizzly bear or the liars like we did

:P

fuck

off

i don't think

people who post on atease are representative of people going there.

just go after work. don't sell it, you'll just regret it, and that's if you CAN sell it - tickets ain't exactly gold dust this time around.

tbh

I have simillar concerns with Manchester - it'll be the same 'get there early or look at a tiny radiohead in the distance' deal.

The support is crushingly dissapointing - nothing against BFL, but when I paid fiddy quid for one ticket, I expected a somewhat more established artist. Perhaps even a couple of them.

Also, for all their titting on about public transport, the band haven't given clear indications of when they'll be finishing, etc.

i don't know about manchester

but according w.a.s.t.e., victoria park curfew is 10.30, which is pretty standard, it being close to residential areas and all.

i have seen them before, yep, on the hail to the thief tour. i'd like to see the in rainbows stuff live though, and they're playing at least one track from the eraser too, which would be nice.

tiny radiohead in the distance is spot on though, and they do usually have one of those silly golden circle things.

i dunno. probably won't have made a decision until i'm actually there and can see what the situation is. i really wanted to be excited about this though, and all i can muster at the minute is indifference. maybe it's age...

Fair enough.

You could always sell your Tuesday ticket and see what the reports are like on Wednesday to go pn Wednesday night instead? If you put it on Scarlet Mist under the cost price, you may get a buyer.

I'm waiting for Weds reports - mainly because I may take my nephew and I don't want him to be witness to a massive let-down. But I'm at an advantage / disadvantage - never seen them before and would kill myself if they split before I do, but also live right in front of Victoria Park so I can probably wander along and buy from a tout.

designated zones, plural, not just a golden circle?

that doesn't fill me with confidence.

christ....

that looks terrible, why have the running track?

It

sounds to me like you've already made your mind up.

"no one likes a barger"

What are they going to do, barge past everyone who YOU barged past just to give yourself a piece of their mind?

um... NO.

MTFU

yeah, maybe

failing that, there's the buy three beers and wander back towards your "friends".

Doing it with three beers would be tricky

I'll give you that.

I find I enjoy barging past people who don't look like they give a fuck about the music to get to the front of a crowd though. (It helps that I'm a bit of a runt)

"i do sort of have pound signs in my eyes"

tickets are going for less than face value on Ebay so you're not going to make a profit. I'm not even sure they've sold out. They hadn't last week.

_

not sold out

seriously

with big gigs being at the front isnt a huge issue.

To be honest, your not going to be able to sell your ticket unless you know someone who's actually going to buy it - there are so many spares on the net its ridiculous (but good as it fucks touts over)

If you don't want to take leave, seriously, just go after work. Bat For Lashes is going to be mediocre but Radiohead will be worth the sum of money. They'll do 2 1/4 hours and the fact that In Rainbows is so brilliant is just a good indicator that this is going to be a great gig

if i was you, i'd just go after work. If your by yourself you'll probably be able to get a half decent spot.

oh yeah, take a hipflask. Obviously.

Don't go!

That'll really show those radioheads who's boss!

Knocking on £60

and only one support act, and a pretty underwhelming one at that is pretty abysmal. If it's true Radiohead have really fucked over their fans, maybe it's to make up for not making as much as they would've if they'd not done a Radiohead for In Rainbows?

I agree

sell your ticket Garry, Thom Yorke's pissing me off these days. If we go and have a drink and sit outside at the fountain we'll be able to hear them for free anyway... By the way I can still hear after MBV. Maybe because I'm young and healthy...

or because you're a wuss and wore earplugs*

i dunno, i'm gonna see what the crowd's like. i can't get the afternoon off work anyway, so we'll see.

*this is just a jibe, i don't want to start another earplugs at gigs debate.

I didn't

wear earplugs, I dropped them trying to stick them onto my tongue. So I'm hardcore like you. Young, healthy, and hardcore.

why would you try and stick earplugs on your tongue?

did the holocaust confuse you that much?

Hahaha

no, this was pre-gig. When are we going to go exploring? I'll make a picnic.

soon, soon

i've got to move this week, and finish my film over the next few weeks. argh.

you are of course invited to the housewarming - date pending.

Don't sell it

I saw them in Dublin and was quite far back and it was still amazing, the stage show is excellent this time round. They also played some completely unexpected gems. Just don't do it.

There was none of that golden circle area either, my mate took photos and it was just a standard pit.
