It was the 42 days thing that finally killed my long-held tribal loyalty to The Labour Party - a political party i worked on two election campaigns for and thought the best government we'd had since the 60s.
I can't in good conscience support a government that has so little respect for the most basic and fundamental civil rights. And actually I do think Cameron et al do - the David Davis stance kinda proved that for me.
So yeah, CG, you win - I am now a Tory, for the next election anyway. Hopefully Labour will sort their shit out and remember who they are meant to be, who they are meant to represent, and come back in 2014 or whenever with a properly liberal social democrat manifesto.

because I think there's precious little difference between them now everyone's battling for the centre-ground. Seems to me it's better to remove a stale government that has run out of ideas than just to keep it in power and pretend it's still vaguely 'leftwing' and that this actually means anything anymore in the British political spectrum.
But I can't bring myself to put an 'X' next to the c word. And then I end up voting Lib Dem every time. Fucksake.

The labour party clearly needs to be chucked out of power and sort itself out again and I think pretty much everyone can see that. And most people still think a lib dem/green vote is wasted, so they'll vote tory.

the older you get you realise that they are mostly a bunch of cunts, irrespective of party.
The way the Tories are laying into Labour at the moment about the economy which is largely attributable to a global crisis is completely absurd. They wouldn't have done any better, and won't handle it better if they get in. I can't believe people fall for it.
But then Labour acted exactly the same in opposition because it is the way of our politics to concentrate on shooting down the opposition rather than debating issues constructively.

The terror bill was a wet dream come true for some tories and you had them all voting against it to try and shame the government.
On the other side, you had a lot of Labour MPs voting for some ludicrous legislation that they probably weren't that keen on to keep themselves in power.
