Thats cause NOFX fucking sucks.

lol
punk in drublic and
ribbed are both examples of how punk should be done. Awesome group though my interest in them has waned in the last five years.... its all mars volta, tool and opeth these days.
I really like them.
I remember the days of listening to Pump Up The Valuum whilst on a school trip to Belgium. Good times. Only heard bits from their newer stuff, sounded ok. Punk In Drublic is class though.
Heavying petting zoo!
I thought it was great when i was like 17!!
Actually, its still great!
i was a HUUUUUGE
fan of all this fat wreck chords, nitro records stuff... i luuuurved NOFX... i even carved their name in my arm with a compass in a maths class when i was 13... i got home and my mum went fuckin' berserk... and i am glad... propagandhi were always my faves...
I like them
Though the Clinton years nearly killed them, they owe their resurgence to George Bush. It did piss me off when I saw them live once and they were ragging on other 'punk' bands for singing about girls and not issues, and was like "Fuck off, 3 years ago you were making albums about clams and sex changes".
I couldn't make their last London gig and they played The Decline MASSIVE SADFACE
:D
"I don't beleive it's selfish, to eat defenceless shellfish."
Still think Ribbed is their best album
'Together on The Sand' is one of the funniest song ever, ah to be 15 again.
NOFX
are completely amazing. Anyone who says otherwise is an utter turd. Monosyllabic girl is one of the greatest songs ever written.
haha
"I take her down to the aquarium, she says "shark"
I take her to the planetarium, she says 'dark'"
I love NoFX. The new stuff is pretty good, Errorism especially, but I think White Trash is my favourite album of theirs. Bob, and Please Play This Song are classics
NOFX
are a bit crappy really.
You're 18 though.........
you would have been a toddler when they were releasing the good stuff.
NOFX & Rancid
were two of my fave bands!! The split/covers album they did was awesome...
Talkin' bout the moron bros', tattooed fingers, tattooed toes!
Haven't bought anything since The Decline in about 2001 or so.........
but, Punk in Drublic is pretty much perfect and will forever remind me of.......
Plan B Skateboards, Independent, Duffs Strombolies, Thrasher Magazine and a time when I had nothing to worry about other than getting kicked out of skate spots by bored security guards.
DON'T CALL ME WHITE
i like the song 'linoleum'. they do grate a bit.
did you ever read sidewalk surfer? i still wear my sidewalk beanie.
Yes!
I used to read Sidewalk Surfer (now simply 'Sidewalk') and can remember when it was called R/A/D...I also vaguely recall it when it was hilariously titled 'Skateboard ACTION!' in the very early 90s.
I always preferred Thrasher to anything else though, that skate magazine introduced me to Black Flag, Sonic Youth, Fugazi, RFTC and much else besides.
you are such a SK8PUNK
i think theyre pretty good though, quite poppy and not anything like my favourite punk band, but youd have to be pretty fucking stupid to say Punk In Drublic is bad
When the pop punk explosion happened
back in 93'/94' Punk in Drublic seemed like the best thing ever!
I've actually only ever managed to see NOFX once, Manchester in about 2000.
I think I probably preferred Pennywise to be honest, but that was before Pennywise decided to write, record and release the exact same album with slightly altered lyrics EVERY FUCKING YEAR!
Oh, Pennywise...
If it ain't broke, don't fix it! You have to admit though, they're consistent. Bro Hymn is a massive tune though.
Yeah, Full Circle was a good album.....
as were About Time, Unknown Road and the S/T, but they're taking the piss now!
Every album since then (and that's got to be about 5/6 now?) has covered the exact same themes, with the exact same chords and ever so slightly altered lyrics.
Still, the kids seem to lap it up all the same!
I agree! I've heard snippets
from their new stuff and it just sounds like their re-working the same thing over and over: "STAND UP AND FIGHT! MAKE A DIFFERENCE! YOU GOTTA TRUST US! SOMETHING DEROGATORY ABOUT BUSH/USA!"
etc.
They are very much a one trick pony!
As long as that trick continues to impress people though I guess they'll do alright.
I think they're getting their own signature classic Vans son though, which tends to be a sign that retirement beckons!
*soon
'We threw gasoline on the fire..'
their best song. Lost interest altogether roundabout 'Pump up the Valuuum' but I love that band regardless of the aloof bastard that I've become.
Favourite albums 'White Trash..', 'Punk In Drublic' & 'So Long..'. When he wasn't thinking up excruciatingly bad euphemisms, Mr Mike could write pretty decent lyrics too .
