anyone else fucked theirs up this week like me?

jono_key | 18 Jun '08, 13:55 | Send note | Report this | Reply

Yeah all of us

as this is www.alevels.com

Who cares, its easy to get into uni even shit ones

people moaning about fucking up exams

especially nice middle class white boyz

is incredibly boring.

Please don't do it. I doubt very much you've fucked them up and I'm sure you have an honourable career ahead of you as a vague politician, Brother Nigel.

I know

I messed mine up twice and the first time I was renting a bedsit paid illegally by signing on and pretending I wasn't at college and not having mummy and daddy mopping up my self obsesed fringe of future banality.

You'll live - you'll just have to stay around Wanktown for another year whilst your friends go off their heads on new people's genitals in a strange new place

exactly

it's not so much i hate middle-classdom, because I am the most ridiculously typical liberal arts middle class boy imaginable.

But, i hate that taking for granted, laughably self-deprecating attitude where people who are going to do fairly well and already have their life sorted because of their background moan about "fucking up" exams. Seriously! the worst you're gonna have done is get 3 Bs or something

It's not like A levels mean anything now everyone has 3 As anyway

Like why don't you jsut be proud of the fact that you are probably fairly academically gifted

it's our fucking culture that makes people think being stupid is a GOOD thing.

Let's face it, you actually vaguely revelled in announcing that you'd "fucked up" even when you haven't, didn't you jono_key?

I'm bloody glad

we have a self-depreciating culture rather than a self aggrandising one. Compare:

'I've probably messed up my exams'

with

'Woo! I ACED my mid-terms. RULE. YEAH. GO ME'.

I know which I'd rather punch in the teeth.

it's more that I feel there is a culture that condones stupidity

to the point people feel the need to say they've fucked up exams, even if they probably haven't/

quite an assumption

I remember genuinely thinking Id fucked up my exams for what I maintain are valid reasons (the exam board disagreed) but I hadn't. Perhaps this was my pessimistic nature but it certainly wasn't for effect.

maybe i've met too many people

whose weird self-deprecation is often masked arrogance.

i think you're way off.

and stop complaining about middle-class white boyz, it makes you sound like a high-order twit. especially as you seem to think Bs are the minimum grade - they're not, people do do badly, often these people are middle-class. grow up and leave off people genuinely worried about life throwing a curveball. things will work out sure, but i'm sure you're always philosophical and never flustered by a thing.

it's just so fucking boring!

OMGZZ you think did bad in exams!!!11!

well:

1) exams aren't everything
2) you probably didn't. especially if you're posting on drowned in sound

Seriously, whine about girls or something instead. It's far more interesting, and often involvez pix.

"especially if you're posting on drowned in sound"

i had no idea this was an affiliate of MENSA.

i think it's tedious to argue about what constitutes a legitimate concern - threads about not being able to talk to girls make me want to headbutt a hedgehog.

true

but i've yet to meet a pathologically stupid indie kid.

i would say look in a mirror

but i just can't bring myself to ; )

you're ideas seem sound, i just think you confuse articulacy and indie-sensibilities with doing well in examinations. in my experience there's not much correlation.

really?

in my experience it's the total opposite. As long as you can articulate yourself well, you'll probably do well. Unless it's Maths or something, but who does that shit.

this might be true in this case, I have no idea

but I think it is a bit off to assume that everyone gets Bs and As.

nearly half of all a levels

are an A or B grade...

wow! half!

so there's a 1 in 2 chance you're wild generalisation is right? i like me those odds.

*YOUR

piss off Tristan

not a lot of the things you moan about are particularly interesting.

:'( at this post.

serious.

Nope.

I revised two months in hand. I don't care what grades I get now because I know I worked as hard as I could.
It'll be worth it.

No

I cheated.

I watched a documentary last night on BBC4

about pupils at school in the 80's and it made me remember the trauma of getting A-level results. They probably are the most important exams you ever have. So relieved I don't need to go through that again.
Good luck! No point in worrying too much until you get them. Even if you have messed them up there are loads of options.

this is very strange

i revelled in it did I? you really think I enjoyed sitting in the exam hall knowing I'd wasted the last two years... very strange logic you have. you people are very presumptuous when you want to be

was this a reply to me?

I don't think I said any of that.

no no no

it was a reply to rock n roll massacres' torrent of abuse

seriously dude

you did fine

now man the fuck up and have a drink

i hope

rocknrollmassacre is marking my exam paper, he seems to have unprecedented faith in me

Yeah I do actually

You're from a satellite town, you're clearly intelligent and articulate and a-levels aren't particularly difficult

You will have done perfectly OK. Perhaps not done amazingly, but you haven't fucked anything up.

in a satellite town?

is there any colour?
or sound?

I love how the most effeminate man on here

just told someone to man the fuck up and have a drink. You also moan more than most on here.

Ironic lolz.

i am well aware of the irony

Anyway who are you?

And I don't think i'm quite the MOST effeminate

I didn't do very well in my a-levels

so I went to music college!
Yipee!

Me too!

I just wasn't cut out for Psychology and Philosophy. Music Tech was a joke- we had no teacher for half a term and missed deadlines as we weren't told about them. Finished my AS levels with Two U's and an E. Music college seemed like the next best option :)

I hate to be one of those horrible dogs

but the first two of my four went really well. As good as I could've hoped. Media was always going to be easy. But Law was giving me nightmares.

I've got a resit on Friday. Hoping I'll ace it. English on Monday is going to be the main hurdle. But in the first half of the year I got something like 86/90 so maybe I'll be ok with a shitty C or D this time round.

But I know lots of people who are saying they've fucked up.

For the record, I don't think any of them could be classed as strictly middle class. Apart from me, of course, hah-hah.

nope

i fucked mine up three years ago.
c ya

Like Fullerov I cheated

Mine was for my History coursework. I shouldn't have even been allowed into uni to be honest.

I fucked up maths

but, hey I knew I was going to. I aced Biology this afternoon though, I wrote a pretty good essay...
They'll probably let me in anyway :) I hope...

I have one more left.

I'm demoralised and tired.

yeh but think about the

months and months of nothing you have to do afterwards.

Shit, A-levels seem so long ago...

I've just done my finals, and I now have to enter the real world. And from what I've gathered, the real world is rubbish.

OH GOD, yes, me.

I totally messed up my politics exam, by writing the totally wrong thing for the question worth 60% of the marks. CRY.

and i would much rather be saying

how fabulously well it went, but it's not the case.

Fucking up exams = SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Fucking up politics exams

I can relate to that!

AQA

Had my USA/UK comparative and political ideologies exams today

ahhh, i'm edexcell.

That course sounds so much more interesting, though. Annoying.

Ah well, all be over on Friday.

I'm about to

I've got 3 hours of chemistry tommorow morning and if I don't get an A the uni wont let me in :(
