Shouldn't I be getting bored of 'The Boxer' about now?

It's been out for ages yet it still feels as fresh as a dewy spring morning and I can't get enough of it.
Has anyone actually managed to tire of it?
Yours scientifically,
Sean
p.s. walk away now, if you're gonna start a war...

Ok you need to start 4 simultaneous threads here

1 for people to agree with you
1 for people to say 'Alligator is better'
1 for people to say 'The National are dull'
1 for people who are too apathetic to post (this may not get many responses)

If you try and fit all these responses onto one thread they'll only bicker.

yeah and also the

thread for people who think they're just a second rate Interpol who in two months time will come back and post saying how very wrong they are and how they no longer even like Interpol.

Since when did Interpol = The National?

I like both a lot... :|

I think I'm the fourth option.

I've never actually listened to The National. I get the feeling I'm missing something good... am I right?

Do you mean Boxer

or The Boxer by Simon & Garfunkel?

If its the first, then no you shouldn't be getting bored of it. To mention Interpol straightaway, Boxer has taken a similar amount of time to settle/grow on me as TOTBL.

It's not immediate, and the dark nooks and crannies, and clever little variations on melodies only really reveal themselves over time.

thank god for pedants

yes i added the The in inverted commas

sorry it was supposed to be a joke.

Back to the handbook...

presumably not the simon and garfunkel song?

presumably the album by the national? i don't have it, but i like Alligator and might buy it before i see them at green man.

Both the album

and the song are absolutely amazing.

I'm not bored of either yet.

Di-de-di- (tsh) Di-de-di-di Di-de-di

there was nowhere near enough tsh on that cymbal sound

di-de-di TSCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

see also the liberal use of reverb on "bridge over troubled water"

When I get bored of the Boxer,

I just put Alligator on and vice-versa. Interpol get crowded out.

Very impressive at ATP.

No

But it's possible that you should be getting bored "with" it by now.

errrr..... so....

alligator is better :p

nope

i've had boxer on pretty regularly since it leaked back in Feb/March last year...

I am equally

"unbored" of it. I think it's a beautiful record...and I look forward to their Sunday headline slot at Glastonbury.

i assumed this was about the Simon & Garfunkel song

not the National album which is called "Boxer"

it looks like at least four of us cracked the same lame joke

within about 15 minutes of each other.

HIGH FIVE!

I'm fairly new to The National,

can't get enough of Boxer or Alligator. next on the list for me to purchase is their debut, then seeing them at Greenman in august.

Their

A Skin, A Night dvd/ Virginia EP has just arrived in the post, so I have that to look forward to. The cd has live versions of Fake Empire and About Today on it, so should be brilliant enough just for them!

yeah

I find the National a weird mix of really quite good and instantly boring.

If I think I'm getting bored of the National

then I listen to Brainy. Or Slow Show. Or Karen etc etc. Awesome band.

Best discovery of the last year or so for me, one of those bands that literally blows all others out of the water when you start to get into them.

I can't get enough of the National...

Was obsessed with The Boxer for about 4 months prior to ATP (got into it late), but after seeing them there I can't stop listening to them. Alligator is excellent but has a totally different feel - also really loving the debut right now.

Truly great band!

^

i cant believe it took me until minehead to see them. need a london date!
