Just watched Creeping Death
what a set opener. I used to love that song and it's still sounding good.
wwwwwwww
kkkkkkkkk
\m/
i'm so excited about seeing them again at Reading, and the new album is actually sounding like it might be thereabouts!
Jesus fucking Christ
Master of Puppets sounds brutal - I wasn't really excited for them at Leeds, but shit.
Okay - I confess, I have no 'Tallica. Where do I start?
Master of Puppets
is the best, most consistent album. get that.
Get Master of Puppets first, it's one of the best complete records of all time
And Justice For All is my favourite though. Mmmm, cold hard metal.
...and justice for all IS their best album
(except for the production)
too many double shotgun blasts to the midriff
it's clearly a toss up between puppets and lightning
no, it's not
you are clearly not being right!
I have
MoP, Ride The Lightning (both great) and Black Album (which I'm not so keen on). Is it worth getting ...And Justice For All? I like Blackened and One.
the production is a bit iffy
but the songs are some of the best stuff they've ever done
Yeah
I'm aware of the production problems, especially the lack of bass. The idea of long, complex songs doesn't really put me off.
After that there aren't really any other 'good' Metallica albums, are there?
Kill em all!
do it!
actually, Ride The Lightning
is my favourite album
MOP is great, but the overall sound is so crap, that I never really liked it
Kill'Em All is fucking fantastic
AJFA - good, shit sound again, the last "classic" album by Hetfield & Co
try to get Garage Days Re-Revisited too, some great covers by Killing Joke, Budgie and The Misfits
The self-titled
is good too although I know it's thought of by some as the beginning of the end.
The 'Black' album
is rubbish. Stick with the first four albums and you're all set. 'Battery' fookin' rules.
see, i know deep down this is a good album
but soured i think by too many plays as a youngin' or Bob Rock's hair maybe
I'd really like to see a reissue of AJFA
it sounds so tinny, and it's a bit annoying seeing live versions of 'One' and the like, and they don't quite sound as brutal on record.
I actually love you
for posting this!
I just started listening to Kill em all again and it's got me so excited about the new album and now this.
My love for Metallica is quickly coming flooding back.
Yay
I've got the urge to listen to them too
it may have been helped by 'Some Kind Of Monster', which is hilarious!
God Bless Metallica
I reckon:
1. Master of Puppets
2. ...And Justice For All
3. Garage Days EP
4. Ride the Lightning
5. Black Album
6. Kill 'em All
I wouldn't bother with anything else (although obviously I would buy a record of them farting the batman theme tune if they released it)
shouldn't you have Justice top with a name like that?
meh
You have to say that, they would sue you if you said otherwise.
a cheap shot
indeed
you're not wrong
I still love 'em even though they treat me like shit!
They need to
bring Dave Mustaine back.
No way
did you see him whinging like a baby in Some Kind Of Monster?
But he's got his own coffee club now though!
(Despite admitting that everything he touched 'turned to shit' :S)
I reckon meh also
Lars is still a shit drummer. Bring back the days of Hetfield spitting on him to stop him slowing down!
Kill 'Em All
awesome album - and they were barely even born or something when they made it. First three albums are genuinely ground-breaking, Justice has great songs but no bass , the black album is good but has a very different 'we want our MTV slice!' vibe and everything after that is leaden toss. They'll do fine live as their own covers band but any more studio albums - unsure...
it's worth noting
that when you see them live they play next to nothing post 'black album'. Maybe 'Fuel' and possibly 'St Anger' but the rest is pretty much ignored. It's for the best.
hear here
i like it when they play Hero Of The Day though
i just pretend it isn't the same band that wrote Whiplash
The Memory Remains
Was fucking brilliant at Wembley. Might wanna stick that one on the 'good songs since the black album' list.
Have to admit
I like quite a few of the songs on Load. Is Until It Sleeps not a good song? Dunno, it's so long since I listened to it, I may think it's rubbish if I listened to it now. Also, I only found out recently what the picture on the album cover is. Urgh.
Load is a decent album
i saw metallica on their
tour of the uk in 1995/96, its the last time they played manchester, and it wa immense, explosions, great monster of a setlist, a bloke on fire swinging from the rafters, stage in the centre of the venue, couldnt really go wrong! also i got to fuck up a tune when jason newstead came to the barrier palyin his bass lookin cool and me bein an idiot started slappin his bass strings, cue a shit load of bouncers punchin my arm and a load of noise through the PA in the MEN arena haha
I have an urge
to sit infront of my master of puppets guitar TAB book for the rest of the day. Megadeth were better though!
THE DRUMMING IS STILL LAUGHABLY CRAP
on nothing else matters (that's the only one I watched)
Up to and including 1988
Metallica are untouchable. So so good... but after that... urghh. Black Album is one of the worst records I own. It's awful!
fuck the haters
i dare you to find me a band as big as metallica who are anywhere near this good in concert, and who's fans are even half as loyal (and forgiving)
i grew up on metallica
my first concert was the and justice for all tour w/ faith no more.
i love everything up to the black album.
i will not forgive them for being fucktards about downloading music.
a better band: slayer. same timeframe, BETTER live, loyal fans, and stayed true to what they were.
FUCK METALLICA.
i think
they might've gone about the downloading thing in a stupid bungling hamfisted manner but i don't think they were completely wrong to raise the 'stop stealing our records' issue.
as much as i love slayer you'd never see them headlining anything as big as donnington, reading or wembley stadium, which was the point of my post there.
so i say again - there is no one as big as metallica who are as formidable live or could command the fanbase as rabid.
What a fucking
awful band. Quit, please.
Ludicrous statement
Metallica pwn most things. Let me guess, you don't consider metal a credible genre...
i think they are up against rollins at reading
on the sunday. only one winner there for me.
seriously?
fuck if i was going i honestly don't know who i'd choose.
I love both :(
im not really a huge metallica fan/ ever listened to them
but i want to see them live. rollins though is pretty much the man i would be gay for if i had to be gay
Is he doing his spoken word thing?
Pick metallica!!!
Yeah
but its henry rollins!
and his stand up
can be really entertaining
