it's just perfect in every way.
after getting that tip top motown compilation i'd get the stax 50th celebration compilation. it's lovely stuff
this old heart of mine...
by the isley brothers is my favourite. oh yeah!
<3 motown
my mom played it alllll the time when i was growing up!
some of my favorites:
"hold on i'm coming" by sam & dave
and later, very motown influenced songs:
"strawberry letter 23" by the brothers johnson
"didn't i blow your mind" by the delfonics
'Didn't I blow your mind' is a BRILLIANT song
see also 'Assembly Line' by the Commodores
There are so many...
"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
"Love Starved Heart" - Marvin Gaye
"Truly Yours" - The Temptations
"Get Ready" - The Temptations
"Uptight" - Stevie Wonder
"I Wan't You Back" - Martha Reeves
"Stormy" - The Supremes
i was literally just
humming 'Heatwave', best Motown song, its proper joyous stuff. And i think the only song to have lyrics worrying about whether the protagonist has 'high blood pressure got a hold on me?'.
there aren't many motown/stax singles that aren't amazing really
i think 'i was made to love her' by stevie wonder is my favourite, though. james jamerson!
