Sufjan faves Cryptacize head to the UK

cryptacize

Californian experimental act Cryptacize have just announced their debut UK dates.

The trio – comprised of former Deerhoof/current The Curtains man Chris Cohen, vocalist Nedelle Torrisi and drummer Michael Carreira – have just released their debut album Dig That Treasure through Asthmatic Kitty, and play the following dates next month:

July
7 Brighton Engine Rooms
8 Nottingham Bunker’s Hill
9 Manchester Kro Bar
10 Leeds Fenton
11 London Luminaire *

* w/Lake, Half-Handed Cloud

And, if you’re the type that needs convincing from enigmatic Michigan songwriters who won't be posing for Playboy anytime soon, Asthmatic Kitty founder Sufjan Stevens has reviewed Dig That Treasure on his label’s website, here. Check the not-so-sly Vampire Weekend dig.

  • I'm looking forward to the Leeds show

everything I've heard from these has been brilliant

  • Sufjan should stop writing and start recording

Seriously what the hell is he doing - doesn't he realise we need more!? Illinois was ages ago now - also how is he going to do 50 state albums before he dies if he doesn't get a move on? (he clearly isn't going to do all 50 states but still...)

  • yes

the london show is with Half-Handed Cloud also on AK.

    • who sounds a lot

like christian anti-folk to me. can't tell if i like him yet..

Half Handed Cloud and LAKE are also playing the Brighton date... which i beleive is gonna be a free show but starting late. around 10.30ish or there abouts.

    • Yeah

the Brighton show is FREE and with Half-Handed Cloud / LAKE. Doors 10:30pm-2am. It's at the Engine Rooms.
