still the Felice Brothers, self titled. Best gig of the year so far: their show at the 100 Club. come on, any love out there?

never heard of it.
album of the year.....???
hmm hard choice, alot of talent out there. No Age is great, Bon Iver is getting there.....
I massively love the Deerhunter leak, but will wait till release to make my decision on just how great it is.
I pretty much guarantee the best album this year will be the new Animal Collective record. New live songs are massive heart emoticons.
I'm thinking Josh Goldberhg, ay tee em
although it does wane a bit in the second half :(
*Goldberg
i haven't hearf of him.
what's he like?
Lo-fi, punky-wunky garage rock
You can download his album for free from his MySpace: http://tinyurl.com/65k9df
i will make the decision
deerhunter is the album of the year so far
also, i really love crystal castles and times new viking
i'm so conflicted with the new deerhunter,
i love it, but i feel i'm trying to love it a bit much and want to skip the middle few tracks. Still 'Saved by Old Times' and 'Agrophobia' totally do enough for me to be happy
So Deerhunter's good then?
I'm going to see them next week but never heard any of their records..
Deerhunter is sublime
I love the new one alot. Its a diffrent direction too. I might get to see them live soon, they play Leeds in the next few weeks I think. Hope there are tickets left.
I was on their myspace earlier
I think it's next Tuesday they're in Leeds.
sweet
I will get on the case tomorow :)
hear Cryptograms
I'm going to be very boring
and say No Age.
Bon Iver
Hammock, Mono In VCF and Frightened Rabbit are right up there though
I'm still growing more and more and more in love
with Fleet Foxes' debut.
Shortly behind - Bon Iver, No Age, Why? and Cut Copy.
And These New Puritans' debut, a tad underrated I think.
The Hammock album is utterly gorgeous.
Times New Viking FTW
and predictably Bon Iver.
this thread
needs more Why? and someone to say "it's only june" and someone else to say exitingARM and also maybe tom whyman to say jofo.
"JoFo"
Did you really need the quotation marks?
these get my vote so far
Atlas Sound
No Age
Deerhunter
Flying Lotus
there has been loads this year already.
I have never heard of Felice Brothers but the tuens on myspace are pretty boarin' from a little listen. Is this a JAG?
been quite poor so far
i'll go for foals or crystal castles
quite poor?
you are certifiably insane. 2008 so far has been fantastic for new albums. i've purchased like, 40 already this year, about half of them released in 2008.
I have been buyin a fuck load this year
:-S its been insane.
I could easily do a top40 albums of the year so far heheh

Hmpf
Bon Iver, Why?, Fleet Foxes, Times New Viking, Deerhunter

joan of arc and mystery jets
The She And Him and Nicole Atkins albums are fighting it out
for album of the year in my home.
With FleetFoxes and Sara Bareilees following closely behind.
I'm cheating slightly though as I had the US versions of Sara and Nicole's albums last year.
The new Tilly And The Wall album is also growing on me a lot so i expect it to barge (or tap)it's way near the top in a few weeks!
The Whiskers
The Mae Shi
Guillemots
Los Campesinos!
Tokyo Police Club
Nick Cave and the Bad Seed
Probably overs
yay
The Mae-Shi they can go in my list to as they are so much fun :)
I agree with a lot of these
but I'm not hearing nearly enough love for Nick Cave. C'mon people it's great!
Vampire Weekend
by a mile followed by Blood Red Shoes!
Join With Us by The Feeling ...

Elbow.

Bon Iver

She & Him
Frightened Rabbit
Titus Andronicus

Time New Viking
I LOVE YOU LIST THREAD
The Portishead album never really grew on me.
It's not that i dislike it as such (and i'm certainly not saying "YOU'RE WRONG FOR IT BEING YOUR FAVOURITE!"), but i just felt so deflated upon its release and it hasn't grown too much.
It's one of those things
that might well be more a product of my own expectations than the, uh, the objective quality of the album itself. I loved their earlier darker stuff, so it was instantly 'there' for me; I find the atmosphere of it incredible.
yeah, i can definitely see that
with some of the tracks. As i said, i certainly don't think it's bad by any means...perhaps i need to listen to it in a dark room doing nothing else whatsoever. In fact, that is a plan for tonight.
Youthmovies - Good Nature
or maybe
Pg Lost - It's Not You, It's Me
Anders Ilar - Sworn
Yasushi Yoshida - Little Grace
I forgot to mention
"Tuned to love" from The Loose Salute.
I picked up the US release last year but it's out in the UK next week (which is strange as they're a UK band!).
It's a great country tinged Pop classic and will also be hitting my end of the year top 10.
>_
For me, it's 'Tyrant' by Down I Go. Perfect combination of heaviness and historical facts about 12 Tyrannical leaders in just over 30 minutes.
Hot
Chip
.
Charlottefield, Why?, Lemuria, Hot Club de Paris, Johnny Foreigner, Stapleton, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, Algernon Cadwallader, Dananananaykroyd, An Emergeny, Frightened Rabbit, Sinaloa, No Age, Times New Viking, School of Language, Meneguar, Sun Kil Moon and Subtle
off the top of my head
Erm...probably Los Campesinos! so far
Bon Iver

List threads rule
So far I'd probably say
Mars Volta
Blood Red shoes
and The Mae Shi
really looking forward to the sigur ros album and hopefully the rolo tomassi album.
That Mae Shi album
fuckin' rocks.
No-one has mentioned
Silver Mt. Zion?
its rubbish except fot blind blind blind
but that song alone makes it a contender.
I'd vote devotion by beach house
can you remember
any part of Devotion except 'Gila'? i really struggle, and i loved their first album.
'you came to me' 'turtle island' 'heart of chambers' are the ones that come to mind
none of the songs stand out or are that memorable but together they blend into a wonderful album. It is no progression on their first one really, but still really great
i honestly cant remember
any of the songs, ive listened to it quite a few times too.
maybe im alone on it
Turtle Island and Gila are the only ones I ever remember
Beach Houses new album is great when your listening to it but I never WANT to listen to it, thats a real problem because I love the album but never see the need to go back to it until im actually listening to it. It has to be one of the strangest albums ever in that sense that its brilliant yet totally disposable.
Did your copy come without
'1000000 died to make this sound' on?
You should take it back and demand the proper version of the record.
and 13 blues
it's too 'rock' its not what they are good at
although it did work great live
