I just learned the start of Gimme gimme by dirty projectors. It's pretty impressive. He's probably the best guitarist i've seen live, or possibly omar who knows.

Other than that i can do this pretty easy but flashy classical piece and of course, wind machine solos.

yeah.

I don't play guitar but I do play bass

And I can play lots and lots of stuff by Half Man Half Biscuit.

And a couple of things by Cable.

Go me.

The good bit in Folsom Prison Blues

only I listened to it the other day and realised I'd been playing it wrong

This Charming man

......the bass

Kumbaya

I've learnt two songs from the DEP/Mike Patton E.P

I was really chuffed with myself, as I'm not very good on guitar. I also learnt all of Sir Duke on bass. Back of the net.

...

I can play Here Comes A Juggler by the Harvey Tennerton Band.

That's way impressive.

Happy birthday

I so win!

That sound fun;

did you do it by ear or find a tab?

I used to be able to to a rubbish version of Tears In the Rain (a surprisingly beautiful Satriani classicalish piece). I've even forgotten that now.

ear

listening back to it i'm missing a load of grace notes and stuff, but its really funny. you get to twang about and go all the way up and down and weheeeee

Ace!

I'm having a listen to it now; I'd be lost trying to figure that out. He's got that thing of using lots of double notes and triads in lead that really fucks me over.

The solo to 'Freedom' by Rage Against The Machine

or at least, I certainly used to be able to when I actually played guitar regularly. I should probably pick my guitar up sometime and see if I can actually still play anything.

I can do anything

Request me. I'm the best guy at your party.

Amin7

:D

*applause*

...

I thought he was in FYC.

theme tune to debbie does dallas

dum dum dum dum
dumde la la la la dun

Actually, scrap my previous answer

the best thing I can play on guitar is the theme tune from the snooker.

My friend can play the Star Wars theme tune on guitar

Both parts. It's pretty impressive.

troublemaker by weezer

or something else

might as well make this a general cool guitar stuff thread

hey when i the last 10 minutes of Boris at primavera i didn't think i liked them at first then I realised that he had a DOUBLE NECKED GUITAR and a BIG GONG. then I thought they were ok. then I think i did the devil horns sign which i havnt done since 2003.

i'm basically the worlds greatest unknown tastemaker

me in 2006: proper lumberjacky check shirts
others in 2007: proper lumberjacky check shirts back in style

me in 2007: light blue levis
others in 2008: light blue levis back in style

Me in 2008: devil horns
others in 2009: well, you get the idea

probably the start of classical gas

but not at full speed, and crappily

i mostly play improv so i know very few tunes, and theyre all acoustic singalongs like someday and king of carrot flowers

thats the "easy but flashy" classical piece i was talking about

but I can play it whole way through. Fuck yeah, i am a nerd.

F5

should have sweared or something

then you'd get yr F5

I thought as much.

*leaves thread trying not to look scared*

nothing.

But I did learn some of the Star Wars theme on the stylophone the other day, that's pretty good, right??

hello

I'm a rock god

i wish hahaharoldramis was here

he plays a mean acoustic version of the hollyoaks theme.

the best i can do is sweet child o mine on guitar hero. :(

the f1 song.you know the fleetwood mac one

and also that ocean colour scene song.the one from lock stock and two smoking barrels.river boat song! i dont play the guitar

hhmmm

bass: lateralus stuff
guitar: probaly breaking the girl on acoustic, i can do that well.

ive been playing for 12 years yet still can't pl;ay any songs all the way through

used to be able to play most of thru the eyes of a ruby by the smashing pumpkins which was probably as good as I got

i wanna be adored

and a bunch of joy division, but that's not too impressive.

on the bass, i can play loads of BRMC songs which are basically just loads of riffs.

my lovely horse

by father ted..

thats it.

i want to shower you with sugar lumps

and take you to the horse dentist.

remind me to learn that one!

Doctor Who Theme

sort of...

if bass counts

i can play the solo in no one knows?

erm

the solo in time for heroes.
i can almost play the intro to this charming man too.

at eits atp

we were at a chalet party and my friend did an accoustic version of the home and away tune, which everyone sang along to.
then we were promptly ejected, after someone bellowed "GET THE SCOTS OUT".

dicks.

lift to experiences album

thats the only thing i really play written by anyone else.

I'm not cure I can play anything properly impressive

But I will never forget the absolute joy I felt aged 11 when after hours of practice and coutless failed attempts I mastered the DUN DUN DER-DER DUN DUN DER-DER bit from Mission Impossible

thanks, two years of guitar lessons

People who don't play the guitar think it is impressive but you may have realised it's mostly just a load of easy hammer-ons. It is a load of guitarry toss.

I would like to be able to play 'Peon' by Cpt Beefheart. I learnt about 30 seconds of it ages ago but haven't bothered to try the rest. Five seconds of Peon is more interesting than all of Gary Moore!

I am still impressed by that

I hated your kind: those guys that sat about in the guitar shop playing the most expensive flying v and just shredding on it for hours. Even though i'd hope i was an ok guitarist nowadays i still can't shred for shit. It has no appeal to me. I should probably get actual lessons one day, I can play alright but its so sloppy and just doesent sound very swish.

I am no guitar shop guy :(

That's what guitar lessons did for me. Evil! It sticks in your muscle memory forever. I wouldn't bother getting guitar lessons unless they are from some cool zen monk who knows nothing of shred or 80s Ibanez guitars. Otherwise it's like learning that competition karate that is basically dancing instead of learning how to kick ass.

I try to swear by

http://www.halfjapanese.co.uk/how-to-play-guitar.php

but Gary Moore and inferior versions of Jimi Hendrix solos lurk in the background constantly :(

...

I wonder how many people have been taught to play guitar under those principles? I'm getting a guitar in the summer and i'm gonna try and learn basic technique but it's mainly gonna be that approach, i'm damned excited.

All of Your Hand In Mine by EITS

Not all on one guitar though, obviously.

I started to learn Avril 14th by Aphex Twin before my high E snapped, which was ludicrously complicated. Should be getting that string replaced tomorrow so i can commit another day and learn about 10 secodns of music...

it's not what i play

it's how i play it

^ this

or Capillarian Crest

the c chord

i really need to get round to buying a guitar. RECOMMEND ME A CHEAPISH GUITAR TO LEARN ON!

get a second hand acoustic

you can't go wrong. They always sound good.

D Major chord

but then I can play piano and double bass so what do I care.

A terrible version of The Libertines - Don't Look Back Into the Sun

I haven't played guitar in about three years...

not the most impressive

but the must enjoyable to play
Blackbird and Don't Let Me Down - The Beatles

i cant think of anything impressive i can play right now....

Some songs from the Final Fantasy's 7 to 9...just to impress my mates, really.

I've never been a technical guitar player though and it's very rare for me to learn songs nowadays, and i tend to fuck around more with sounds and writing music in my bands.

He-man Woman Hater

by Extreme. Impresses no-one except for myself!

I can play "When I'm President"

and the obligatory 'More Than Words'.

Don't knock More Than Words

it's been slaying the ladeez since 1990!

paranoid

android.

quite well.

but i haven't picked up a guitar for about 5 years. so maybe not.

i can't play anything

but what i really want to know is... why can't i fucking strum this ukulele? i'm really shit at it :(
