My first reaction (and for about two weeks after the announcement) was that it was fucking awful, and I would've got a refund if it weren't for the fact that there were so many of us going
BUT
When I actually sat down and looked at the amount of bands that I was up for seeing, it's nowhere near as bad as I first though, and still beats most festivals
Just think how amazing it would be if you were given the chance to curate a festival as big as Glastonbury
LCD Soundsystem headlining the dance tent would be my first shout
Yeah, I'll still have a great weekend. I didn't go to the main stage once last year. And seeing as the Hold Steady and Jay-Z are on it this year, I might even make an appearance over there
there is no way i will have a chance to see them all, but i will catch most of my faves so that's quite alright.
last year was actually incredibly frustrating. there were probably about 100 bands i REALLY wanted to see. and as such, i missed about 80 of them. which sucked more. I'm pleased my decision making will be less of a stress this time round. It was torturous in 2007!
about the line-up. more fun to roam the festival freely and see what you come across. loads of great bands playing smaller stages. If u can find the late 'n' live stage, it's got some ace new bands playing after all the bigger bands have gone to bed. Fight Like Apes, Orphan Boy, Gideon Conn, Ten Bears, etc. If I tell u check these out, it contradicts what i said at the start of this post, so check these out.
yeah
the main stages are shit but they are some cracking little bands around, just start drinking earlier
