Work complaint (sorry)

A colleague of mine took it upon herself to 'tidy' my desk while I was on holiday a few weeks back.

Apart from this being a really patronising, unwelcome thing to do, she seems to have thrown out a lot of information that was pretty important to my work (left on my desk to remind me to work on it after the break).

She's been at the office the longest apart from my boss and she takes this to mean that she is the most senior member of staff in here, even though she is only in the same role as me. She will definitely deny chucking anything away if I cause a fuss. She also gets on well with my boss, having known her for years.

What should I do? Should I just suck it up and go through the process of getting this information again (annoying and time-consuming) or should I report her to someone and look like a bit of a cock?

Sorry this is a long post but I've never really been in this position before and some advice would be good...

:D

i do this a lot with people i can't stand.

a 'parrrrp' or a 'waaaaah' usually does the trick.

You have to say something to her

otherwise she might do it again

^ Probably the best thing to do

is bring it up with her. Going straight to the manager is a bit playground

i was about to....

suggest doing a shit on her desk, till i saw yr post.

pissing would be more considerate i think as a big poo could be quite smelly

Also

Can people please stop leaving coffee and brown chunks of wet sugar in the sugar tin? A bit of respect for the sugar is all I'm asking!

^This

I lietrally laughed my coffee out my nose.
Very attractive!

can you bring it up in a

non-confrontational way?

ie if you know she definitely tidied your desk, just ask her if she 'happens' to have seen the missing info? and maybe mention how annoying it is when things get moved around?

she probably won't admit she threw it out but it will hopefully make her think twice about being so interfering again

what a good suggestion.

Very mature.

annoying american girl that used to sit next to me

used to take it upon herself to dust my desk while i was trying to work all the time. yes i'm allergic to dust mites, but FFS, get your wandering hands off my desk!

My supervisor did this last month

I'd asked her if I could finish two hours early, and she agreed, so long as I tidy my desk. I told her that my my desk was an organised mess as I was incredibly busy at the time, and needed all my notes out. When I came back from lunch she'd thrown all my notes in the bin, which were pretty vital to what I was doing, and, to add insult to injury, she said "I told you you should tidy your desk". I was fucking livid.
