Hey Glastonbury 08 attendees! Great news!

I know these things are pretty unreliable, but the signs are good!

  • :|

    what the hell, man!!!!!!??

    • If this prophecy comes true,

I'll try to leave early. If by Friday, we have rivers of mud again, I'd be very, very content to be on a bus back to Manchester.

      • this is bad news

        ]:

      • god i wish i could do that

im stewarding. so i have to be there until monday. ANUS.

        • Do you get to sleep in a hut or caravan or something?

          • NO!

if it rains like that im going to seriously consider plonking myself in my tent/ john peel/ hare krsna for the entire time im not working.

            LAME!

  • My meteorological instincts

arise once more to scream 'it's going to rain' relentlessly until someone heeds my words and takes precautionary measures in advance.

    • look mr

      you seem lovely

but please. do you have to talk like this all the time?

      • It's a permanent infliction.

Learn to adore it or avoid my posts altogether :)

        • well.

          then.
          let the adoration begin.

          • :D

I was expecting an argument. You paint a positive picture.

            • i dont know how to argue

im the most hopeless case of wanting to appease and please everyone ever.

youd never know both my parents argue for a living.

    • *sigh

      still anorack weather

      • Well

I think it rained on Friday in 2004, but was fine afterwards.

I can handle anything, just so long as the soup isn't there. There'll be a lot less people there this year, so that's a bonus.

    • lamest site ever ^^

the latitude 2008 page has the 2007 line-up

  • everyone

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140237326005

these are the only things that will keep you dry. invest.

  • Last year....

What got me through the 4/5 days of continual rain was knowing that before I had left I had sealed a pair of trousers, socks a tshirt and top in a black bin bag with duct tape to open on Monday morning.

Having clean clothes, dry clothes locked away for the journey home is a good tip. I'm going to Latitude instead this year in the hope it wont rain in July.

    • i will be doing this for shirley

      thankyou

      • any threads on glasto tips?

        best pos. to camp etc

  • Metcheck

are rubbish any more than a week in advance.

    • ^This man knows

It uses the GFS model which doesn't have much skill for Europe beyond 5/6 days. Look out for the UK Met and ECMWF forecasts, they're better but still pretty rubbish about three weeks out.

  • From today's Times

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/weather/article4036305.ece
Sounds like they're hedging their bets.
Could go either way, but I'm predicting a scorcher.

    • has anyone

      checked this recently?!

      http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/event_forecast.asp?eventID=559

      Maybe. Just maybe....

      • God. Let us pray.

Its going to be blisteringly hot though, don't worry. I know these sorts of things. I knew the twin towers would come down WELL before 9/11.

      • This is like

        That champions league final.

When I saw the forecast last week, it was like 3-0 down at half time.

Todays forecast is like Stevie G making it 3-1 and you're thinking......"surely not?"

  • In the last week Met Check has predicted Biblical storms

and issued a heatwave warning the the last week of July.

It's the most unreliable thing ever.

Wait till a week before, then we'll know

    • :D

      • it cant be worse than

        last year

as long as you have wellies, a coat and camp uphill

        • People keep saying this

But really, it can be a LOT worse than last year. Aside from the last day, it didn't exactly rain constantly, did it?

In fact, I'm pretty sure 2005 (or was it 2004?) was tons worse than last year

          • Sunday

was just about the best day last year, Friday was the worst it rain constantly from about 11 till 7 and very nearly flooded my tent!

            • Thanks for reminding me about that.

I spent all of Sunday vomiting into a bin bag in my tent. Great times. Glad I missed the only good* day of weather for that.

*this may not be the usual definition of 'good'

              Joe - www.anewbandaday.com

            • Sunday was the best day?

I spent Sunday evening battling in the driving rain to push people's cars out of the mud. It was the worst for me!

I mean, not only was I fatigued, filthy and horrible, but I longed for my bed, the bands were universally dreadful and the rain came down at about 8pm in buckets!

              • I've just

remembered I spent most of Sunday in the Left Field Tent nice and dry with a hard floor!

          • 195% of the avergae June rainfall came down in five days

If it can get worse than that, the festival truly is cursed!

            • It can get worse, and has been

              http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/4619449.stm

Last year really wasn't that unbearable. Shitty, yes. But for people to be assuming that last year was as bad as it can be weather-wise are sadly mistaken

              • I'd still rate

2007 as worse than 2005. 2005 had one spectacular storm, but that was overnight. There were long dry spells, and by Sunday afternoon quite a lot of the place had dried out. 2007 was just constant rain nearly all day every day, spoiling every band I wanted to see. Combined with the overcrowding, I actually rate 2007 as the worst I've been to - including 1998.

                • Yes, it didn't get any better all weekend

In 2005, it wasn't too bad after the friday if you camped uphill and had a pair of wellies, which admittedly wasn't the case for many people. It got better throughout the weekend. Last year it rained heavily every day and the mud just got worse.

              • All my chums went to 05.

One of them's tent was in THAT field and was on the internet. As was a photo of him swimming out.

Even they say 07 was worse, because didn't the storm happen overnight in 05?

                • yeah.

and it was pretty much constant for 07. i'll be happy with just one day of sunshine! or raining and WARM. it was so cold last year...

  • stop your whining

    • oh boy

you have GOT to be kidding me...

  • The sun will shine relentlessly

    Or it will rain relentlessly

    Or somewhere in between.

Whatever, you can't do anything about it.

    • it will

rain relentlessly and THEN the sun will shine relentlessly

  • the likelihood...

of any forecast two weeks in advance being accurate is minimal.

  • I love how this thread now starts with loads of

    "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" replies.
