anybody got any recommendations? i want something circa 1980, something really stupid and not that scary at all. not a teen horror either, probably something about the spawn of satan or something along those lines. i did think of watching gremlins (thanks jimitheexplorer), but i now think a good horror is what i need.....ideas?

poltergeist

or the amityville horror.

actually, poltergeist is scary as hell.

oh cool

i like the weird pig thing at the window.

though, is it the remake that's on tv?

I think it might be the remake

i just noticed it while flicking through the tv times

ACTUALLY

amityville horror got me thinking of children of the corn. although that might scare me.
candyman, but that's scary too. choices choices...

you can't go wrong with candyman though

or hellraiser? too much?

oh god no.

pinhead scares the hell out of me.

i watched the original stepford wives the other night

sooo creepy. i'd recommend it.

When ur in uk

invest in sky then proceed to zone horror!

i'm rarely in the mood for horror actually!

i'm squeamish, otherwise i would have become a doctor. true story!

Parana

or somat like that is meant to be well funny in a cheesy jaws kinda way... oooo jaws

no idea how to spell that

nasty little fish :(

piranha?

nom nom nom.

that looks more like it

and I love the added nom noms hehe

Leprechaun 1-5

race with the devil

it's more late '70s and is a horror-thriller..

American Warewolf In London

now that is a classic... I love that film so much and its got Wolves in it so it must get some points with ya hehe

anymorrreeee?

i can't think of the name of the one that i want to watch.

what's it about?

vague description?

ummm, a child who is called damien i think

and it basically the devil and he tries to kill his mum. about all i can remember. i want something with as little gore as possible. might go for stepford.

oh

the omen

The Omen

thats damien

BRILLIANT.

thank you! now i just have to find it (thanks jesus_son as well) huzzah!

yay

:) enjoy there are quite few of them I think. number one is the best I can remeber though

oh blah, they only have the 2006 one

that will have to do :(

i aint seen that one

Im rubbish at finding films on line too hehe or I would look for ya.

don't do it

hold out for the original

i wanna watch it now though!

plus it has the ginger guy from band of brothers in it (i think) and i <3 him. will report back periodically.

hmm

i'd have gone with stepford wives if i was you.

or pet semetary if you're in the mood for stephen king.

i'm gonna go watch the 70s version of invasion of the bodysnatchers, with donald sutherland and jeff goldblum. can't beat jeff goldblum.

enjoy though, night.

that would be horrific,

and not in the gory way.

eeeck indeed

even worse if they turned the k the rong way round aaaauuuurrrrgh!

Omen

thats the spawn of satan?

EVIL DEAD

and the puppetmaster series. pure cheese.

evil dead?

that scared me stupid when I tried to watch it a few years back. I think it was a combo of the music, the fact that I couldn't see anything happening and me being generally a bit skittish

hellraiser!

nonononononono

pinhead is terrifying.

it's not 80's

but flight of the living dead/plane dead is amazing. watch it!

Toxic Avenger

is absolutely crap but very funny.

the saturday morning kids cartoon

was pretty good too.
nowt like the film obviously

what about reanimator or something?

or braindead or nightmare on elm street?

man i wish i had gremlins to watch, hmmm.

braindead

is so good

I recommend

the Hammer House of Horror series. The word horror should be used very loosely. I think they're late 70s/early 80s and so very stupid but highly enjoyable.

Was his death an...accident?
No, no
Was he MURDERED?
Ye, yes
Did YOU kill him?
yes
VERY WELL THEN!

That dialog courtesy of a ridiculously stereotypical Indian swami performing a seance in one of the best, or worst, scenes

necromantic

^

but if one more person comes up to tell me they like the nekromanitx when i am wearing my nekromantik t-shirt i will just scream

the following:

club dread (american pie meets scream meets total shit film)
dead and breakfast (zombies meets country music)

spring to mind (i don't really have much of a mind but they're definitely both NOT circa 1980 - sorry! The latter could be though)

see if you can find 'Raging Angels'

soft rock stars vs badly superimposed demons ftw.

wizard of gore

clearly this is the best answer. juno loved it. i love it. nothing is more cheesy than it. herschell gordon lewis is the man (see also gore gore girls, which is fabulous, and colour me blood red)

alternatively, watch IT'S ALIVE - demon babies, it is THE horror movie, i'm not kidding
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1189/1430093443_fb45c9f923.jpg?v=0
then you can also watch the 2 sequels and love the fact that in number 3 there is an island of those little demon baby bastards. pure movie bliss.

good call from whoever said reanimator as well. jeffrey combs said i was cool once, that was a 9 out of 10 moment for me
x

Warlock

it has Richard E Grant in it and everything
