Gang of Four announce first new single for 13 years
Posted: 23 May '08, 14:42
They may’ve lost a pair of founding members earlier this month, but Gang of Four have already re-grouped and today announced the release of their first single in 13 years.
‘Second Life’ arrives in June as the first new material since 1995 and will feature “exclusive remixes by musical contemporaries,” apparently – though whether that means The Mekons or Burial DrownedinSound isn’t sure.
No word of an album just yet, but Gang of Four have scheduled some live dates for this summer. How do they plan to do that without a rhythm section? Drummer Mark Heaney and bass player Thomas McNeice will step into Hugo Burnham and Dave Allen’s shoes respectively at the following dates:
May
23 Ljubljana, Slovenia Druga Godba Festival
24 Skopje, Macedonia Hard-Rock (OFF-Fest)
June
20 London South Bank (Meltdown)
August
2 Pescara, Italy Indie Rocket Festival
