Crikey!

http://www.list.co.uk/article/8567-tom-waits-to-play-scotland/

I foresee a weighty ticket price, a testing dilemma, an impulse decision, an overdraft extension and then a very, very special night.

Who cares what it costs....

a ticket must be got!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

....

This would be pretty appalling if it was to be confirmed...no?

That's nearly twice the price of tickets in the USA.

...

Dublin dates are 30th and 31st I believe. I think this has already been "confirmed" by various Irish radio stations.

that news

has made me physically sick

£95?

That's a fucking disgrace.

That's fucked

but if it really is his only UK date, I've got to go.

It'll be an adventure. I've never been to Scotland...

2 birds 1 stone....

and all that.
The thought of seeing Tom Waits live gets me very very excited.
How fucking hard will it be to get a ticket?

think carbon steel

and then think a bit harder than that

ADAMANTIUM

Wolverine's unbreakable bones and claws level of hardness.

Fuck, there's no way I can justify this. Fucking arrgrhhh. Surely he'll do a real tour within a year or two???

is it £95?

nothing is worth £95

or

75 pound, which is only slightly more than last time really

there's literally a bazillion people

who will be more than happy to pay that price so fair enough really

There's no way I can afford that!

Damn him. Although it's only a few days after my birthday so some quality hinting could land me a ticket. Now, just gotta think of someone I know who likes the Waits.

£75/95

That IS a fucking disgrace. Love Tom Waits, love Edinburgh, but that is WAY too much money to shell out...

agreed.

surely it doesn't cost 95/75 x amount of people they can fit in venue.
So someones making a massive profit.

that'll be without booking fee etc

I love the guys music but fuck paying that, 50% more than I paid to see Aretha Franklin in New York in March

I can go and listen to

Toy Mic Trevor in the town centre for a fraction of that. I am sure if I chuck him a bottle of Johnnie Walker and a copy of Raindogs to scat along too he'd oblige.

The Hammersmith show

in 2004 was just sublime, I was lucky enough to get a ticket.
Including booking fee it was almost £75 for that gig, which is easily the most I have ever paid for a single show, but it was worth it.
I wanted to see Neil Young again when he played Hammersmith in March, but when I got through to buy tickets, it worked out at £84 a ticket inc fees, which is just fucking wrong.
Paying £95/£75 plus booking fee for Waits seems in Edinburgh is way too steep though.......
The capacity of the Playhouse is just over 3000, which means he'll gross somewhere in the region of £250K PER SHOW!
Obviously, he doesn't pocket all that, but it makes you think what he does earn... is any artist 'worth' that?
I can't think of a single performer that charges more (except Madonna I suppose, but if your idea of a night out is Madonna at £150 a shot, then you've got too much money or a fool....)

Im actually sick

with excitement.

I said edinburgh as a joke to my friends.

who's laughing now?

Not me, im too nervous.

demand?

I'm hoping to get tickets to either night, anyone have any idea what my chances are like?

fuck this again

my favourite musician ever is a fucking money grabbing cunt and can fuck off

OH MY GOD

GOES

Wait

£75
I actually feel like crying now.

think yourself lucky you dont live in france

the best tickets there are £130. Yet the cheapest are £40.

What gets me is the fact that the tickets to the US shows were all about $80-$85 dollars- thats £40 a ticket.... which is about ok.
I can't possibly believe they 'forgot' the dollar is worth half of the pound and even less vs the euro- have they just changed the monetary signs (like some US tour bands do with their merch....)

anyhow- the fact that they are employing 'anti-scalping policy so the real fans get in seems a little hollow when tickets are more that a tout would play anyway....

OH MY GOD

so excited, i live in edinburgh, and assumed there'd only be alondon show so ticket cost doesn't bother me as now no need to pay for travel or accomodation, win win YES!

might try

for another european country if he does them

ebay

The ONE day that I can't be home to buy tickets

and they have to go onsale that day

WHY?

Utterly rubbish :(

Tickets must be got though!

i REALLY want to see him but don't think i can afford flights and a hotel for the night in edinburgh.
i suppose i'll have a check on expedia to see what sort of money i'll be looking at.
