Battle / Battles
(I heard Battle, then got confused when reading a description of Battles. At first I just put it down to overzealous journalism)

Q And Not U / Q Without U
(I might be alone in noticing this one)

Nelly Furtado / Nelly
(Once again I wondered where the familiarity was when first hearing Hot In Herre)

The Prodigy / Prodigy
(Not particularly surprising)

Subtle / Subtitle
(Close enough that ATP ended up inadvertantly booking Subtitle, pretty much)

Field / Field Music
(I assumed someone had missed an apostrophe-s. Thankfully never confused with Fieldy's Dreams)

GZA / RZA
(I'd like to know who was named first)

JJ Cale / John Cage
(This one's probably just me being stupid)

John Mayer / John Mayall
(John Mayer's Bluesbreakers?)

Any others?

kind of similar

a promoter in Glasgow once booked Envy and Other Sins, thinking they were getting two bands. Teehee.

all the wolf ones, obviously

Wolfmother, Wolf Eyes, Wolf Parade

all the black ones too

and the fuck ones.

Black fuck wolf would be the ultimate cool band name right now

Supertramp and Supergrass.

I always confuse the two.. :(

Did you see the supertramp bloke

at the Diana concert last year?
He was awful, at one point he muttered something like "you throw a great birthdya party here" - painful.

GoodBooks

GoodShoes

A few years ago

there was a Welsh power-pop band on the very slow rise called Cartoon, whose chances were pretty much wrecked by that Danish novelty group The Cartoons.

Cartoon!

Ha ha I remember them from uni!

my boyfriend

used to keep thinking I liked Blood Red Shoes because I like The Good Life

(The Good Life -> Good Shoes -> Blood Red Shoes)

^

Friendly Fires/Fear of Flying
Held By Hands/We All Have Hooks For Hands
Little Flames/Flaming Lips

Horse The Band/Band of Horses

There was a guy at the show the other night who thought he'd come to see Band of Horses, he was most surprised when they started playing!

urgh

Duke Spirit - Duke Special
Field - Fields - Field Music

Jawbreaker/Jawbox

Burning Airlines/Jets to Brazil

The Anniversary/The Wedding Present

...

Minutemen/Minuteman

Black Flag, Black Kids, Black Eyes, Big Black, Black Lips...

^

minutemen/minuteman definitely.

Not I: but when mentioning My Bloody Valentine

To individuals who have not heard of them...it occasionaly assumed they are on the lines of bullet for my valentine/my chemical romance disgusting really. Need more education

THIS

this exact thing happens to me on a regular basis, i actually was having an argument with somebody about them for about 5 minutes before i said "you know they're not some my chemical romance/bullet for my valentine type?"

"..oh"

yeh its odd how much this happends

its frustrating because no matter how much you justify their greatness and their sound, they still have quick emo power chords and gerrard way eque frontman in their head.

Surely you confuse

John Cale with John Cage
or
John Cale with JJ Cale

not John Cage with JJ Cale

that is exactly

what i was about to say.

It was inevitable

that I'd get something wrong typing it up.

Neils

Diamond & Young...

my bloody valentine

and my chemical romance. they're like the exact same names!

BARR/BARS

death can dance and

death cab for cutie
gets confusing on my ipod

The Tenderfoot and Tenderfoot

are two entirely different beasts.

Rats.......

Ratty Rat Rat and Ra Ra Riot I always get mixed up, which is embarrasssing when you say that to one of the bands .... "oh you're in Ratty Rat Rat, oh sorry Ra Ra Riot ... oops ... good gig yeah "

Oh and

Rose Kemp / Ross Kemp
